2. Sorry CK, But I've never been able to get a looper and drummer working well together. My loops are always a fraction out and after 64 cycles, that a good beat or two away from where you want it to be. I've had a clicked up drummer, but tempo shifts from the drummer aren't a worry, its the impossibility to get it to work within the milliseconds that form 'groove'. Sending a midi click from Ableton and arranging a Behringer FCB to trigger keys on a laptop is a different matter altogether, very easy, but too tech-heavy for gigging. (I gig by the motto "The more technology, the more chance of things going wrong", and I play midi bass ). Dan
3. Ta fellas, Re: Diago stuff - I'm after the red adaptor for the MoogerFooger but they're out of stock. I have a powerstation already but I'm after the adapter for my specific pedals. Re: Industrial Velcro - If Diago had the red power adapter in stock, I'd defo order the velcro from them but as it is, I may just ebay it. Lemmywinks: I'll defo have some nice bits of velcro off you, I''ll PM you. Also (I feel like this is an Oscars' thankyou!!! ) Some of the fuzzy stuff on my board has come loose in transit. Any recommendations about reattaching it so it's firmly stuck? Ta. Dan PS. I'm sure I just need to go ahead and do it, and make the mistakes myself, but I do not want hundreds of pounds of pedals destroyed in the process.
4. Hey guys, I've searched ebay for 'industrial hook tape' and can't find anything. Any pointers? Also, is diago the only place for diago adaptors? Ta
5. Hey everyone! I recently bought a pedal board/hardcase and diago powerstation from John_the_bass (thanks man!!). I use: Moog Lowpass (and expression pedal) Woolly Mammoth Boss OC2 Boss LS2 Line6 DL4 Plus a couple of other bits (Wah, Pod, etc). I was wondering what tips you guys have re: attaching pedals and power? Where do I get hook tape? Do you remove the weird rubber bit from the underside of boss pedals? And more.... So post your nuggets of wisdom, lessons learnt the hard way and big secrets!!! Dan
6. I thought if you were replacing a speaker you had to know the "Thiele/Small" info or it would all go horribly wrong!!??! How are you guys choosing replacement speakers? Just on size and power? Dan
7. I run a studio for young people, have 15 private students, do workshops in schools, do the odd studio session (although trying to let it go coz I can't be fussed learning 15 songs over 3 days for another deluded-yet-well-funded arse) and play in 5 bands (DnB, Glam, Folk, Country, Bad-Seeds). I have no idea how I'm going to afford to insure my car or pay my tax bill next year, but I have two tours of the states planned for the summer (that won't cost me a penny). It's very stressful, but I do sometimes love what i do. Dan
8. I regularly get pains in exactly the same spot as the OP. I'm currently trying a number of different picks, playing positions and gripping methods to try to alleviate the problem. It seems it is a reoccurring thing amongst us bassists, but it appears everyone is trying similar techniques to control the pain and to build a resistance to it. Dan
9. My best ever day was when I had a cold and was gigging in a freezing warehouse. All the ingredients for a crap gig but I was so fast and tight, I truly astonished myself. Since then, I'm only ever disappointed. Dan
10. As CK knows I've been messing about with midi bass for a good few years now. I use a terratec convertor. Its not without its problems but you'll never be able to get a bass guitar to sound like a sine oscillator, through shed loads of routing with anything other than decent pitch-to-midi. Dan
11. I was after one of these a while ago (love ebanol boards, hate sunburst!!) but now I need a sunburst body and a fretless neck to butcher into other projects. The FVMJ seems like a good bet!! Of those of you that have them, could you post pics of the bodies so I can see how the grain of the pieces looks. For me, aesthetics are as important as sound so it is actually an important issue!! Thanks, Dan
12. Bit late, but I just bought a 21 fret neck for a 20-fret Jazz. Today I just shifted the bridge towards the nut and intonated. No worries!!!! Mine's also a cheapo jobby. The neck was 40 quid and the bass 200. I thought I could either source a new neck or just make do. Cheap's cheap. Not fussed about visable screw holes or anything, so job's a good'un!!
13. Just bought A Classic Vibe Jazz of Chris. Legend: Nice, quick, well-cared-for instrument. Great service. Ta, la!
14. I'm a sucker for modding and the reason is as stated above: It's mine and there's not another like it. I get a lot of work because people feel they're buying into uniqueness (NS, Custom Ps). My instruments may not be constructed from woods as consistent as some high-end builders, but their accessories still make them beautiful!! Dan
15. Let me know. If you're in Preston and it doesn't shift, keep me posted!!!! Ta, Dan
16. I want this bass, but being in Manchester, it's too far to travel (petrol would put it more expensive than a new one!!!). Please someone buy it before I sit in my car for a day anyway!!!! Dan
17. Two DarkStars? I was just thinking the same!!
18. Hi Chris! I'll be travelling back from my "Will the label fund the SXSW trip?" meeting tomorrow night but hopefully it'll be on iPlayer. If I see you at the gig, I'll introduce myself. My name is Dan. Good luck with it tomorrow!! Dan PS. Small world... As a Manc Jazz man, I know Luke and John from Cin Orch from years ago!!
19. The Bays and The Heritage Orchestra, Royal Northern, Manc. They're awesome!! Dan
20. Tanuki - Let me know if/when you're getting rid of that bass!!
