1. Mottlefeeder: It's a great suggestion, and I hadn't thought about utilising the front of the cab but the Tech cab has a curved front so there'd be protruding corners. Not that I'm a Health & Safety nut, but I'd fear for my fragile ickle fingers!! Andyonbass: Good idea! The permanace of velcro as putting me off,and this resovles that issue!!! Off to Maplins!!! Dan
2. I got past this by making sure the opening of the case is facing up, and fishing inside with a watchmaker's screwdriver so the nut's aligned. Then the nut won't drop. Dan
3. Hey guys, Following AlexClaber's advice, I mounted my 1x15 Tech cab onto an angled stand, pointing directly at my ears to get the full range. Problem is, where do I put my LMK250? It's on the floor at the mo and totally unaccessible!! I could put some velcro hook to the bottom of the amp, but has anyone done this? Will it ruin the cab's cover? There's nothing at the back to stop it sliding back when I put it on top, and I can't put something there (like a piece of ply) as it'll block the speakon inputs on the cab and the amp. Post your solutions please gents!!! Dan
4. Sorry I'm late guys but my Warwick Rockbag has an unusual system that would really solve this problem. The nuts for the items are in runners up each end of the case, thereby allowing you to dictate where the screws go. The tension between the nut and runner caused by the tightening of a screw keeps all the gear in place, and allows you to bypass any unusual hole-configurations. Dan
5. Aha!! On the stomp-box modelers, how do I turn on the alternate (delay trails) bypass and what does it do? Alternate Bypass will allow the delay to remain in the signal (fade off into the distance) when the pedal is turned off, where True Bypass will stop the delay as soon as the pedal is turned off. Alternate bypass mode should prevent any drop in volume level when the pedal is engaged. In addition, it will not cut off delay trails in a long delay setting. To switch between true bypass and alternate bypass mode, you will need to hold down the a and c buttons at the same time for at least three seconds while inserting the left mono input(which will turn on the unit) to initialize alternate bypass. It will remember the selected bypass mode. Since it's a simple toggle, if you want to switch back, just repeat the process. Dan
6. Yeah, I do, but most bandleaders only care about the sound, not the label, it's the other band members that get territorial and who can blame them. If they go out and spend £1k on an instrument, they'll be livid when your £300 home-job sounds better!! Dan
7. How about the fact that I would like an SX or a Squier but don't want to show up to a gig or session and be faced with the snobbery of other musicians. My Darkstar Precision is a parts bass, and I took the work 'Fender' off the decal and left 'Precision' as I don't really want to claim it is what it isn't but some of my fellow bassplayers and some of my students have said things like "I'd never play a Squier/parts bass ... but yours is excellent." So am I the snob too because I don't want to be face with other's snobbery? Should I bite the proverbial bullet and smack 'em in the face if they slag off my bit of wood? Dan
8. Yeah, actually you can. I just googled it. You have to turn true bypass off but its not much of a tone-sucker (with my limited testing capabilities .. read 'ears'). Once off itmakes the delays much more pleasent to use, as the lack of trails makes it a bit unnatural. Try the line 6 forums. Dan
9. I'm genuinely sorry Chris, I know I could've been more prompt about things and for that I'm really sorry. I hope you get twice the price you asked for on here, just for the waiting I put you through. Again, I'm sorry. Dan
10. I'm travelling to London next week, and I'd stop off at Milton Keynes on the way. The only way to do it would be a single to Milton keynes (£30), a single to london (£15) and then a single from London to Manchester (£12) plus travel once in london to my destination, plus an adequate case if I'm on public transport. So yes, you're right, it's not the £90 (£25 for each single is what i'd got from thetrainline a couple of days ago) I first predicted but it's more money than I was wanting to spend on travel and it's a lot of time out of my way that I didn't want to spend. I'm actually a bit devastated I didn't get it. It's exactly what I wanted, but it's not an urgent purchase and I'm going to hold out for a situation where all that extra money can go on the instrument as opposed to travel. Dan
11. I am crying as I type (on the inside) as I can't afford the £90 it'd cost me from Manchester to Milton Keynes and back to get that fretless. Crying.
12. Music Ground, just up the road from the Sound Control on Oxford Road, although I recommend going to the Salford SC first, it's much bigger. Dan
13. BB - What K&K did you use? And did you install it yourself? Also, do you mean you put the TI Jazz flats (as in electric bass strings) on? SR - I have tried foam with my DSP but there are some moments in this band that I use my Wooly Mammoth for a full-on wall-of-sound bass tone - totally not possible with a wedge of foam killing sustain. Thanks guys!! I'm at a loss what to do with it, if anything at all! Dan

15. Wow, I guess procrastination really does not pay off!! Glad you've got the bass this soon Andy, I'm sure with the mods it's a beast!!! Dan
16. And so I cry!! Damn late paying councils!!
17. Sorry Andy, That's 19mm at the neck, where the pickup is? Dan
18. Hey Andy. What's the string spacing at the neck? Ta. Dan
19. They sound like a good idea Rev. I'm after something with a bit of sustain and maybe some top-end. I know that I want the sound of the Trubass strings but not all of the time, which makes me think about flats. I also palm-mute a lot of the time. I was thinking of fitting a bass-mute (like the ones Ped has) but since I'm using a piezo in the bridge I thought maybe it would kill the level. Any thoughts my fellow chatters. Also, my threads only seem to get one or two replies. Am I that boring?? Dan
20. Hey guys, I've been playing about with my acoustic Ibanez bass in my Nick Cave/Tom Waits-esque band along with the DarkStar Precision. The Precision's got nickel strings on at the mo, so it's a bit too bright and lively so I was considering a few mods and maybe buying a fretless neck for it but in the meantime I've been playing the acoustic. Thing is, I ran the idea of new purchases by the band and they all said that the acoustic looks great in the context and sounds good too. Problem is, I'm dialling out ALL the mid and treble from the onboard-pre coz the sound is even brighter than the P. So you acoustic users, what you using to get 'your' sound? I have a set of Trubass 88s but there are some times when I need a long sustain, I just don't need all the top-end. Are you using electric strings? I also rarely play it unplugged other than in my room, so volume isn't necessarily important. Thanks!!! Dan
21. Regret saying yes to that singer-songwriter my mate asked me to do. It was Paulo Nutini. I'm 23 and I've turned down Dave Stewart of Eurythmics, Paulo Nutini and Echo and The Bunnymen. (None deliberately though!!!) I'm a bloody idiot. Dan
