1. Hey guys. I'm looking at getting an amp cover for my techsoundsystems ND115s mini. Its an odd shape so It'll be a custom order. I'd love one for my Hartke A35, but its a kickback design so side-on its a trapezium-type shape. I'd need some kind of clip-system to keep it on properly and I was wondering if the amp covers have any sort of mechanism or design where the case is held together on the underside of the amp/cab? I imagine I can email the manufacturer (and intend to), but I was just wondering about your own experiences. Ta. Dan
2. Yeah, sorry I couldn't make it Ste, I ended up working til late for my students today. I'm definitely interested in another though!!! Dan
3. Any more info/pics on ibanez fretless? Ta. Dan
4. I'd love one of these to match my tech neo 15 but I think the footprint is slightly different, making stacking, aesthetically, a bit off. Dan
5. As a bass player I get a lot of band dep gigs ('Jesus in India' and 'Aristocrash' recently). My brother is drummer and gets similar work. Neither of us ets paid particularly well (£30-£70 a gig and maybe half for a rehearsal) but both of us can play and love a challenge. I say get a dep!!! Dan
6. Dr. Funk: The Axon's tracking is generally good. Oddly enough it's far better with the MicroKorg than the Supernova (which doesn't make any sense midi-wise). I occasionally get problems with double triggering (Notes cut short by two 'note-on' messages) but its not much of a problem. I use the foot controller's 10 buttons to mute and un-mute the 8 patches in 'performance' mode. This essentially means I can have any combination of 8 sounds (1 sub, 2 leads, 2 monophonic synths, 2 pads, and 1 just noise) that I layer up to create a vibe (very important as I use it a lot when improvising and a single synth patch is too rigid). I also assign the two expression pedals to control mod wheel and portamento or lfo rate or whatever to really alter the sounds as I play. Ped: It really is as simple as getting a few bits of gear together then figuring how the hell you make it do what you need it to!!!! Dan
7. My setup is a little more complicated than you've detailed, Tony, but the principle is exactly the same (I run one bass with audio and midi signals). There are a number of complex problems, but if you've got midi experience you should be able to sort it. It obviously goes without saying that the more complicated you get, the more problems arise. My setup is: Midi: Bass (GK3b) => axon ax100 => fcb1010 => Novation Supernova => Korg Microkorg > (audio) LS2. Audio: Bass => Bass POD => EHX Bass MicroSynth => ZVex Woolly Mammoth => MoogerFooger Lowpass => DL4 => LS2 But with some complicated wiring. My tone sucks ass, but my sounds can destroy buildings. Dan
8. I'd bring my MIDI setup and synthy stuff. Also, I'm a drummer with access to kits if that helps any? I'm in Didsbury, Sounth Manc. Dan
9. Hey Bassassin, My 'Custom' Precision has a custom cut scratchplate. I sent the whole bass in with an uncut piece of pickguard from a supplier and my luthier (Richie Thomson, Wigan) cut the new scratchplate by tracing the old one. It was very cheap and its great quality: You can get pickguard blanks from allsorts of places: Basspartsresource: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/pickguard_material.htm Thomann: http://www.thomann.de/gb/misc_guitar_pickguards_acc.html And more... Get them to trace your glued guard, bevel the edges and drill the correctly counter-sunk screw holes. I just realised I'm nailed and its late. Goodnight.
10. I'm after doing a similar project. I'm assuming that once something like the epoxy or the Rustins has been applied, a radius block and some sandpaper is the way you get it playable? Or do you do it by hand/eye?
11. Whereabouts in manc ste? I'm in didsbury and wouldn't mind trying one out!!
12. SteveK are you sure about suggesting he play a minor 3rd scale (blues pentatonic) over a major 3rd chord (C7)? Also, isn't the alternating half-whole-step scale the octatonic scale? With the true diminished being stacked minor 3rds? That's how I was taught it anyhow! Dan
13. JoJo is ACE but for DnB it can get a bit technical. Also the MCs are a bit cliched. I can't believe I'm just dissing it though. It is really good to listen to! Dan
14. That classic jazz look AMAZING. Defo more my colour scheme than the natural one, with that new bridge too!!! I know which one I'd go for ... and I'm a precision guy!! Dan
15. A student of mine boughtan Ampeg head but couldn't carry it home. He left it and said "I'll be back tomorrow to pick it up." This was the day before it shut. His head is in the shop but he can't get it. Has he lost it? And is money? Dan
16. Passive precisions every time. How boring am I???
