1. It depends on what someone is looking for in a bass. Fine craftmanship, superior woods and hardware can be found with high end basses, and if they have the feel and sound you are after can be the best buy you can make. But, I have a number of high end basses and my favourite is still my '62 P Bass, although the Yamaha 2024X I have just got is not too far behind. Ah, but many people would point to my P Bass and say it's vintage and therefore high end. However, my dad paid 100 pounds for it in '75 and it just happens to be a good one, which sounds and plays perfect for me. I recently had a Wal (got it from Beedster) but the sound wasn't what I was after; I had a Celinder and it was nice but never sat well in a band mix for me - so it seems a P Bass (or derivative) suits me best. Doesn't stop me wanting other high end basses - which I have a number

5.
The Basschat 'for sale' section is choka -block with 5-string and 6-string basses. It's a shame for us traditional 4-string players: not much variety or choice there. Do people get fed up with 5 and 6 strings really quickly and go back to their 4-strings? Why are there so many 5 and 6 string basses for sale there? I thought most bassists played 4?
I've given 5 strings several goes but always gravitated back to four. It seemed that I would get a five string, go back to four string selling my 5 string, only to 'believe' I need a five string again! I have decided to keep my Clover Avenger to get me over the sporadic belief that overcomes me that I need a five string and since then I have never had the desire to play a 5 string live!!!!
6.
Thats looks so RAWWWWKKKK! Nice one Sean. So does it live up to everything you hoped (I am guessing yes!)? I think alanbass1 gets his white one this week so there should be two reviews up of this great looking bass.
Got it and it's, well great.....

12" Cabs.

Great job
17. I think Blackie over the '59 purely because of it's history - now, if it was Peter Green's '59 then that would be different
18. Also look out for the Yamaha BB series - 414 or second hand 614. Great basses for the money
19. A lesson we could all take on board. I have to say that my bass collection has doubled the past two years, from 5 basses to 10, and I had also bought/sold 4 basses during this period as well. This was after a period of around ten years where I was 'happy' with my stock. I'm just hoping that I will settle down and not go through the madness for another ten years!
20. Always good to have our colonial cousins on board. Where in the US are you located?
21. Woah, that is some bass
22. Wasn't he playing he playing Alembics at the time
