1. Playing with a band called Peach: www.myspace.com/peachtheband
2. Welcome aboard
3. Welcome aboard - great to hear you are on the mend. I play Violin and tend to read only on this instrument and find it exceptionally hard to improvise, yet on bass I just improvise and play by ear. Having said that, not too much call for improvising in orchestral music.
4. I kinda like it myself.

7.
I was thinking Throbbing Gristle...
I think even Gen would disagree there!
8. I like fretless Stingray's - must be the Pino thing. You don't see too many being played
9. I think the key is in the original post; if it's fun then I'd do it. Just because the music isn't to my taste I wouldn't dismiss it as there are other factors that are as equally important - are the other people playing good to hang out with, am I learning anything. The only thing to bear in mind is that you may start to tire of the situation quickly if you find out that you really don't like playing the music you might feel obliged to continue so not to let your mates down kind of thing.
10. Not for me, I think I'm stuck on traditional at the moment!
11. Perhaps one of these: http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/hofnerfs/futurama/gal17.html
12.
I have to hold my hands up. I'd never played a Warwick made after '95 that I liked, but I was in a studio in Stockholm over the weekend and spent some quality time with a Streamer Jazzman 5 and was TOTALLY blown away by it. It was the best setup bass I've ever had my hands on (PLEK'd) and sounded totally out of this world right down to the low B. It's on a couple of tracks on the CD I was playing on and sounds the mutts nutts! Might have to look at getting me one of those...
I have to say that my '00 Thumb NT is a fabulous bass - I chose it from a batch of three that the Bass Cenre got in (when they were in Wapping) and the one I bought just had something. I think with all makers, there are good ones and there are ones that just seem to shine
13. As weight is not an issue you should be able to pick up some good gear second hand - Eden and Peavey would be where I would look to start with
14. Welcome aboard.
15. Hey and welcome
16.
Great to meet you Lo, I've also looked at many of your vids, great stuff. Looking at 'Aint no Mountain' as I have to learn this one myself. Have you ever done the other 'Aint no Mountain', the big one with Diana Ross? Jamerson is masterful and, for me anyway, almost impossible to mimic.
+1 on this
17. Hi and welcome
18. Very nice, just a bit rich for me
19.
Is that Warwickhunt's old Sadowsky PJ by any chance? Very nice mate!
I think it might have been mine that I traded with Beedster for his Wal. If it is the same one I got it new early last year from the Gallery.
20. WHen I bought my HT/EX112ER Bergs I tried the AE112's. To me the HT/EX were smoother, went deeper, were more controlled and had a better integrated/sweeter treble. Also, being front ported they are not going to be as sensitive to stage positioning as the rear ported AE cabs. They are abould 10lbs heavier (for the HT) but the weight isn't a problem as the HT/EX are compact and easy enough to carry. Take a trip to Bass Direct and compare them yourself - which is what I did. It might be that you prefer the more aggressive sound of the AE.
21.
Where in the US are the US made ones, err, made?
Most new Ampegs (since 2008) are made in the Peoples Republic of China
22.
Sorry for hijacking the thread but I have a TC RC4 pedal for sale as I rarely us it with the amp. Comes with lead and original packaging. Not sure of current new price but I'm thinking £100 including postage.
Probably better off putting this in the for sale area. 100 seems quite steep as most people get a deal taking the pedal with the amp.
23. I'm starting to hanker after a Gus....
24. Yep it will be an early/pre '08 model before they brought out the updated version without the S1 switching. Being a chain store they will have a policy of adding a percentage to their purchase price. Andertons have a couple of the early '08 ltd edition telecasters (with the painted headstock) at over 100 pounds cheaper than the newer ones that they had recently got in - same thing.
