1. Hi guys For those of you that are into building your own speakers.... As well as selling my fully functional Peavey 410 TVX bass speaker (http://basschat.co.uk/topic/175793-peavey-410-tvx-bass-cab-for-sale/), I am looking to also sell a 1 x 15 Peavey speaker cabinet. The issue with this speaker however is that the speaker does not work - the speaker has blown and needs replacing. After review, I realised it was not worth my time/cost of replacing the speaker, however I thought the cabinet shell may be of interest to anyone who wants to use it to build their own speaker. Specifications are as follows: 78m (30.7 inches) tall 62cm (24.4 inches) wide 44cm (17.3 inches) deep Colour : Black The cabinet has handles on either side which make it easy to carry and is covered in black "fur" (ie not a hard finish). The corners of the cabinet are protected by metal covers which show minor amounts of wear and tear as a result of extensive gigging. I am selling the cabinet for the princely price of £5 (pickup only - I live in Twickenham, South-West London). If anyone is interested please let me know! Thanks
2. Hi guys As the title suggests, I have a Peavey 410 TVX bass cab for sale. Specifications are as follows: 4 x 10 bass speaker Max Power 700W (350W RMS) Impedance : 4 Ohms I bought this speaker brand new about 7-8 years old and I gigged regularly with this for about 3-4 years. I used to run it with a Trace Elliot AH300-12 with my Status Series I and it produced a cracking sound - I was actually surprised with quite how good it sounded! Given the extensive use, It does have some exterior wear and tear - some of the metal corner protectors are a touch worn and there are a few marks on the cabinet itself (as would be expected from gigging). There is also a slight metallic resonance at the back of the amp from the input when certain notes are played - however I would stress that this does not detract from the sound of the speaker itself, which is in perfect working order! The only reason I am selling it is because I have recently bought an Orange OBC 410 cab and there is not enough space in my spare room for the 2 of them I am looking for £100 for the speaker. I am based in Twickenham, South-West London. Given the size of the cab it is not really suitable for postage/courier however I can try and arrange that for extra cost if necessary!
3. Hey guys - a good friend of mine has said he can get hold Orange bass heads/cabs at knock-down prices (all perfectly legit, I promise! ). I'm playing in a rock/pop/alternative 5-piece, nothing too heavy but the bass sound I'm looking forward to is a decent punchy bottome-end with nice rounded mid to high end tone. I play a Status Graphite Series I, originally through a Trace Elliott AH300-12 (sadly now defunct) and a Peavey 4 x 10 cab. I'm looking to play small to medium-sized venues for now. For those of you who know the Orange amps, would the Terror bass 500 head carry enough punch for these size venues (I presume at 500W it would be!) and is it suitable for the tone I'm looking for? Ideally I'm looking to avoid that "metallic" sound that some amps naturally produce (eg Ampeg). Any thoughts much appreciated! Dave
4. Thanks for your ideas guys. I did read about the LMII the other day and there seems to be a growing consensus amongst people I've spoken to that this is the best amp the money and style of music I'm playing. (plus it's very light!). Chris - thanks for the offer, however for another £130 or so a brand new LMIII becomes available. Will consider your offer though! Mog - I'll have a look at the Profet, thanks for the heads up. Ray - Aguilar heads do sound great but I think they may be out of my price range? PS Good to hear from a fellow Twickenham-ite though ;o)
5. Morning! I just found out my trusted Trace Elliott AH300-12 head has gone to the great head unit cemetery in the sky - well, not quite, it needs a new board which TE are mumbling about producing, which could take several months! In the meantime I need to acquire a new head unit and I was hoping to get you guys opinions. The music I'm playing is a rock/pop/alternative 5 piece (with 2 guitars) and I play a Status Series I 4-string. I have 2 Peavey cabs, 4x10 and 1x15 (likely to only use the 4 x10 the majority of the time). I'm looking for a punchy sound to bottom out the 5-piece sound, but also something smooth with good tones in the mid/upper register. I play with fingers only (don't believe in those plectrums!) and am looking for a "non-metallic" sound (not a big fan of Ampeg's, for example). After some initial research I've got the following on the shortlist: Gallien Kreuger 400 RB-IV Markbass Little Mark 250 Would be much appreciated if you guys can give me your thoughts on the 2 above and any other possibles? Looking to spend £500 max. Dave
6. Hi guys... Thought I'd introduce myself - I'm Dave and a 31 year old bass player from London. I've been searching for a suitable forum for discussion and advice for a short while and this one seems to be the best one ;o) A little bit about my playing - I'm self-taught, having played since I was 16, having been classically trained on piano and trombone, as well as singing in several different groups with many different genres! I've joined a new band 4 months ago in a more rock/pop/alternative mould which I'm hoping is going to be very successful - the right elements are in place so fingers crossed! My gear: Status Series I 4-string (Graphite Thru-Neck) (currently eyeing up a 5-string Warwick Fortress to add to the family) Amps: Trace Elliott AH300-12 (currently in the shop after it blew up after several years of trusty service) Peavey 4 x 10 Peavey 1 x 15 Bye for now! Dave
