1. I was having a wee browse on the Choob, looking for different bass related stuff & typed in "Live drum & bass bassist" & got this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xSCKkJOSlM Well it's not what I expected!
2. The send/return is handy for any rack fx that you might have (usually in the same case as your head). Like Liam says, it is usually a blend of dry & FX. Some amps (such as Markbass) have a jumper/switch to chose between blended or wet (all FX & no dry signal).
3. Another ordinary day for them?
4. Well you do get a month with a BF before you have to commit.
5. PANIC!!!!!!! A 3x10?! You'd barely be heard in a jazz gig with only an acoustic guitar to compete with! What you need is 2 8x10s and 2 2x15s under them with a couple of 10k amps to run them if you're gonna play stuff like GnR with no PA support! Just messin with ya. I've done many gigs with a 2x10 & no PA along with 2 loud guitarists & a heavy hitting drummer & had no trouble whatsoever being heard. Try it at rehearsal, you might just get a surprise.
6. Into the input socket. Just as you would put you bass into it without any fx.
7. Just over a week to go!
8.
I spoke to mine specifically (barclays) the only issue for 'out of the house items' is if I was using them for work. My camera is therefore insured separately whilst I now get paid for jam nights, with the same people, with a predetermined 'jam' list, and a PA that happened to be made from the exact parts each jam member brought along.
If you want your camera covered for business use with Barclays, they can now do it (if your policy # starts with MHO or renewed after May 4th 2011). All they do is specify it & add a clause.
9. If you're covering your gear on your Home Insurance. 1: It falls under Personal Belongings/Possesions. 2: Quite often it will only cover about £1-2k if stolen from a vehicle & quite often will only cover in a vehicle if the vehicle is locked & the items are in a concealed boot (IIRC Barclays is £1500). 3: check if it covers whilst you're gigging. Some will cover so long as you don't get paid, some you need to state business use & specify your gear & others won't cover you at all. 4: Making a claim WILL put your policy up next renewal (or if your renewal is close to the claim date, it could be anytime within 10 months) & there's usually an excess to pay. The good thing is, it's usually relatively cheap to cover gear on home insurance.
10. I'm surprised no one's said Hysteria! A couple of my faves to play (off the top of my head) are: Brown Paper Bag - Roni Size Army Of Me - Bjork Ramble On - Led Zeppelin Sir Duke - Stevie Wonder Peace Sells - Megadeth The Waking - Kurt Elling New Born - Muse New Years Day - U2 Can't think of any others as I mainly play originals & spend most of my time working on them. Although I'm working on a couple of unusual covers that don't have particularly great to play basslines (Satisfaction - The Stones & Crazy - Gnarles Barkley, but we don't cover songs to sound like the originals). Edit - Gotta add some U2!
11. This might be of interest... Click this dot .
12. If they don't know what their cabs specs are, who does?
13.
Personally I think a reheasal room is a harder space to 'fill' than a pub or stage, its to do with the acoustics, the massive SPLs due to the tiuny room size, the fact that everyone is on top of each other (so you end up way off axis to your cab) etc etc etc
Not sure if you're having this issue with your current rig at rehearsal, but it's one reason why vertical arrays (such as a 2x10 or two) are a better option than something like a 4x10. So when you are off axis, you still get a decent volume. I dare say you probably know this, but it might come in useful for those that don't.
14.
Not a bad shout - Delbertnot - you should listen to it, it's good. My choice would definitely be 'I Wish' by Stevie Wonder...........or 'The Dry Cleaner From Des Moines' by Joni Mitchell - live version........or 'Nice n Sleazy' or 'Tom Sawyer' or ....well it depends on my mood I suppose!
I Wish is a good bassline, but I much prefer Masterblaster or Sir Duke. I'm kinda surprised that there's no Jamiroquai or Led Zeppelin on that list either as most of their songs have got stonking basslines. I'd even put a U2 song in my top 10 (No, not With Or Without You!).
15. Cheers man It was a pleasure making those tracks, just with I'd had a little more time to make more (September flew past!). G
16. Just took delivery of a Boss OC-3 from Shep & can truly say he's a gent to do business with, giving me updates & letting me know when he posted it. The pedal was well wrapped & secure & sent recorded. I'd happily do business again with Shep. Buy with confidence. Thanks again.
17. Most of that "Top 10" wouldn't make my top 10.
18. I agree with Dave, unless you're wanting an iPhone, iPad or iPod then something like the Pandora may suit you better.
19. There's a BFM Omni 15 Tallboy for sale on here. Comes within your budget & would probably knock spots off anything else in that price bracket. Here it is.
20. Great basses & if I had the money, I'd buy it & defret one of them. I have an SR1000e that's been my main bass for 20 odd years now. Started life black & is now waxed ash. I'm sure the SR is 9.5 lb (though I suppose after I stripped it, it lost a pound ). All the best with the sale.
21. Something like iRig would allow you to do this. Can be an iPod Touch or an iPhone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J2Jp2nhTdM&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PLAE7BD36A231CC649
22. iPhone? There's many apps for it that have stonking sounds. if you don't need midi, then could be what you need.
23. The only thing that I know of that's similar to a fretless 5 SR is the GWB basses. The GWB35 is @ £600 new... & the GWB1005 comes in at @ £3750 I'd love to get my hands on one.
