BALLS! No really, it's 'Balls'.
Whereas I'd like to agree, I cannot My Markbass has loads more than the Trace Elliot 4x10 combo or the HH, Wem or Carlsberg things, or any of the other heavy solid state blocks that I've used.

Nice bass, nice playing. My only criticism is that your sound has no bass! Is it on the bridge pickup? Too clangy for my liking. But yeah! Nice playing. W&T make some lovely basses.
-
Yup. Play about until your heart's content & then you'll change the order again within a month! Just now I'm running Fuzz > Flangy EQ (Bass Murf) > Filter (Wah) > Chorus. Every now & again I juggle things about & then revert back to this again. More pedals = More fun I'd stick the [s]Tuna in a sandwich[/s] tuner at the start.

After a bit of time reading things on here, you'll come to realise that "watts" accounts for a small percentage of what the actual perceived volume is. The TC RH450 is a prime example. They marketed it as a 450w head, but it's actually 236w. The problem with trying to sell it to the majority of bassists whom think wattage is the "be all" of how loud a thing is would be that they'd most likely think it only goes 1/2 as loud as something like a Markbass LMII due to it having @ 1/2 the wattage. The RH 450 is (according to owners on here) every bit as loud as the LMII. Just like Budget Surround Sound manufacturers claiming their system is "19000 watts of pure power" or some drivel.

I've never played a SR300, but have you tried raising the pickups up some to see if that improves things?
-
Interestingly,a friend of mine has had two LMII amps fail on him within a month of each other.
Aye, but he was using them as Ramps instead of Amps!

Are you going through a PA? If your bass isn't going through the PA then I'd look at vertical arrays such as 1 or 2 15"s or 1 or 2 2x10"s or 12"s stacked like in Mr Foxen's pic... Maybe not as tall a rig as that, but you'll get a good even dispersion to your audience. A standard 4x10 doesn't have a very wide dispersion (loud directly in front & volume fades as you move to the left or right).

I've has quite a lot of Peavey PA gear, but never had any bass gear (my bro still swears by Peavey cabs for PA). I think there's nowt wrong with the badge & I'd happily have a peavey sub sat underneath my MarkBass (with a Black Widow driver ). More reliable than an Ampeg!
Unless you're like me and have no ar*se. I'm a great big fatty but there's no meat on my buttocks, so nothing to hang trousers on. I have to have my belt so tight that I look like a bag of sh*te tied in the middle. Mind you, it does mean that my overhang protects my basses from my buckles (which I collect so have some interestingly shaped ones). I don't mind wearing braces when I'm in my outdoors/fishing gear, but otherwise I just feel like a prat in them.
Top tip - Get braces & play punk or mod.
Another (sorry) serious one... photograph all your gear, write down the descriptions and all the serial numbers and put it all somewhere safe (www.dropbox.com or a fridge - next best thing to a firesafe). You never know!
I always tell folk to take pics of their gear (for insurance) & pop the pics on a private Flickr or similar.

troy sanders effects? anyone have any idea what he has?
I found this, if it's helpful: http://www.uberproau...r-and-equipment
No wonder he's got a massive sound. Octaver & a POG, Moog delay & Taurus pedals! Those alone would make a massive sound without any of the other things he has (including using a bass)! -
You could move the tuner & octave over & then squeeze a Moog in there! MF101 & an expression pedal on the floor maybe?
-
Just dropped a track in under BassG (or Bassgsj). I've posted it before on BC, but thought I'd share.
-
Ah, you're alive! May the bass be with you.
-
I would hope that you'd be able to hear yourself at practice with an 8x10 regardless of amp! Congrats on finding "Your" sound. Some folk spend an eternity doing that!
-
As long as it's no later than than @ the 9th I should be fine. March, June or July would suit me better as I'm getting married on the 22nd of April & then off on honeymoon & back late May.
-
I've tried telling him, if the PSU don't fix it then the clogs will. But will he listen?
-
have you tried a different adaptor?
-
Soooo, does anyone fancy taking the task of sorting out a bash up this way (Dundee/Perth/Stirling/Falkirk)? I'd do it, but I don't know when I'll get the time to (struggling for band time too!).
-
I'm gonna try & get down, but I think my chances are slim. Will find out either December or January (if there's any tickets left by then). Might have to sort out a more local bash up this way (on a different date of course).
-
Those two should have just taken up guitar.
-
Are you daisy chaining? It sounds like you're not feeding enough amps (mA) to your pedals. Check how many mA the Zoom takes & how many mA your PSU chucks out. If your PSU is only about 500 mA, then you're gonna have problems. If your PSU is all fine, then I'd take your Zoom & jump up & down on it whilst wearing clogs.
-
& you use all that for bedroom practice?! I'm wanting to build a BFM cab one day soon. But then I want a lot of things, so I need to go sweet talk the wife!
-
£70? Tell him to keep it & drop it off a bridge! I'd try it & then see what it's worth to you.
-
That is.... One Tall rig! I hope it's one of those valve amps from your blog that sits atop. Infact no! Make that two of them. One to power each cab! What is the lower cab??? Looks like a folded horn thingy.

Have a Youtube at Miloopa, Nerve (JoJo Mayer on drums), Skrillex, Men Imitating Machines & Shep's band Our Helical Mind for some quality dubstep. If you've got a smartphone (such as an iPhone) install Tunein Radio & have a listen to some dubstep on there (there's quite a lot reggae based). As for gear? At present I have my bass going into a cheap PSK Distortion (which I am very surprised at how good it sounds, but not on it's own)then into the Bass Murf which is set with a little drive to warm things up & most frequencies taken out & the bass boosted quite a bit, then into the MF101 & finally into a Boss CE-2 Chorus. The Bass Murf actually has an LFO, but can't be used to control the 101. However, I can control the rate of it via the 101's Env out & into the LFO in, so the not starts with a quick subtle wobble that slows down as the note fades. & this is before the 101 (so kinda like what Dan does), but then the chorus is at the end (similar to what Shep does). The Murf's LFO moves the selected frequencies range up & down slightly. Sometimes I use the Murf on one of the patterns to make it go WubWubWubWub & have the tap tempo, but I'd need to get a metronome for the drummer. A plan there is to get a cheap drum machine, send a click to the drummer, a hot signal to the murf (to sync it) & a midi lead to the guitarist (he uses a Godin Synth guitar thingy & an Adrenalinn). I'm soon to be the proud owner of an OC-3, so much fun & experimenting on deciding if it goes before or after the Murf. An idea is to have one channel of the Murf putting just low frequencies into the OC-3 & then CE-2 with the other channel putting frequencies @ 500-700hz through overdrive & the 101 so I can control what there is of those & always having that steady sub bass there. I don't use any compression live, although it wouldn't be a bad thing to have one set up properly to keep any peaks at bay. Shep gives good advice on what you need for that dubstep sound. Your 506 should supply a 1/2 decent fuzz or chorus (I had a 708 & the octaver was gantin, so I take it yours will be no better. But a lot of useable sounds on those wee Zooms) & I'd maybe look at picking up whatever one you don't use it for (if you use it for chorus, get a fuzz. If you use it for fuzz, get a chorus or trem) & an octave. I take it you'll already have flatwounds?
