1. so heres my board fully loaded the riser being built in is an amazing idea! andy
2. cant wait to gig this bad boy!!! so happy with the pedal board from charlies pedalboards, all power supplies (2x diago powerstations) and thumpinator hidden underneath. and the obligatory night shot if peeps want to know signal path the mesa, spore and root are in the loop of the bright onion blender which is inserted into loop 1 of my cog custom (red 5) so its before the fuzz, so they have a clen blend, then it goes to the primer, then heliotropic, apocalypse, tu3 and the thumpinator underneath the board. andy andy
3. loved mine used to use it with a swr headlite, very gd cab for their value! andy
4. totally agree about pick choice, i actually switched to a thinner pick after watching a video by nolly getgood of periphery fame, as i abuse basses and pick hard with out a comp things can get a bit spikey however using a thinner pick actually evened out the attack! ( as nolly said it might) kinda acting as a comp, flexing more on the harder hits. but on the eq i find that i can get a bit more of a grind when using a pick and need to back of the treble abit and use the mids which i always have pretty high on my terror, and as all above have said the stingray does like to be a nice aggressive sounding bass, maybe try using the tone to drop alot of the treble might get rid of some of that? andy
5. my soon to be pedalboard quite horribly laid out on the floor of my lounge! lots of fun sounds and alot of love for uk based companies! new board coming next week aswell as some planet waves cable to make up some leads andy
6.
Here ya go!!! 183 and a standard 130-30 6 string bass set. Low F sharp up to C
have just got a set of the roto's for my incoming 6er 175 low string which im looking to try for my low E as we tune down a step, bit scary to think i might need to go for the 190!!! andy
7. been wanting a bit of a better pedalboard for a while, as the one i have a 24 quid roadcase style board is a bit of a pain! been thinking about getting a pedaltrain but managed to find a different company an grabbed a bargain. http://charliespedalboard.com/ got myself a c3 coming, looks like a decent build quality and got room underneath for the power and the thumpinator so will save a bit of space! andy
8. can you not just retune for the single song? andy
9.
Is the T-65 a clone/based on anything specific? Also; are there sound clips of it online somewhere yet?
its part of my custom "red 5" pedal from cog heres a link to the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amu-lBeX4R8&list=UU2nph-mPlvZFfBPyj1ADc3Q i believe its loosely based on the pearl octave pedal. please excuse the chatting and playing lol, also has the tarkin bass fuzz and the chorus he made for me in there to! andy
10. totally agree with tim, was nice to see how people tailor there gear to there gear to there needs, and the talk on the retrovibes was awesome! even took the jokes well! v interested to see the super p bass idea that he spoke about! andy
11. what an aguilar chorus! andy
12. I use a cloned of the old brown boss chorus with a few tweaks, But the Tc chorus is also nice Andy
13. was a good afternoon! nice to put some faces to names! def up for doing this again! andy
14. im not a fan of this kind of music but bashing something for not being as good as the original seems a bit pointless to me. if you got nothing nice to say dnt say it! as i said in a earlier comment it erks me that no real rock acts were represented in the track thats really my only problem, i mean dave growl got one line! andy
15. just picked up my stuff from practice studio today, so got all my pedals and my 810 ashdown and 1000w bass terror andy
16. if you cant hear anything obviously wrong then your fine, also as you said you not clipping the input then you arent putting in to hot of a signal. another thing to think about is that your hartke pedal could be adding a bit of eq to the signal say a mid boost and this could be the volume increase your hearing, andy
17. thanks grangur ive sent them an email advise them of what i plan to do, ive had things not fit quite right before ie a 135 wouldnt fit the bridge on my modulus so had to file that slightly to fit it in. dnt mind having to get a spare for the future if i go back to a more standard tuning, im basically now 99% going down the route of having to lower string rather than one high one low, so ill have a low A and a low E, as we tune down a step. andy
18. managed to grab a bright onion looper of a fellow bass chatter which has the phase switch now its just an afternoon of finding out what pedals sound gd mixed and if they need the phase switching! so much to pick from! death by audio Apocalypse, lateral sounds, root and spore, fuzziorious heliotropic, and my cog effects custom red 5! think i need a bigger board! as thats leaving our the wah, lateral sounds primer and my mesa fluxdrive! :-/ andy
19. anyone aware of what the nut is on these basses? im considering a stupid tuning which will involve a 175 gauge string! so may need a replacement nut andy
20. Def try adding a second cab, sometimes it's not wattage but speaker area I think I rem somewhere seeing the actual db raise between an amp at 250w compared to 500w isn't double the volume. Not wanting to confuse tho, try an extra cab of similar size (speaker) to yours and see how that goes? Or just by an 810 all your volume worries gone! ;-) Andy
21. awesome about the basses this should be fun! andy
22. its not that bad, bit of a shame that rock didnt have more of a showing, sadly it was to be expected that radio 1 would shy away from that. andy
23. hi guys! so as the title says looking at ways of blending my distortion and fuzz's together rather than running one into the other, looking at the boss ls-2 as a affordable way of doing this however im wondering if i will come into all kinds of phasing issues? it would be different pedals not always the same ones all the time so setting up for phase stuff could take a while is it best to just get a sound that works with the boss or maybe try and get something similar with the phase switch? andy
24. i use mine as an always on effect, makes for a fatter dirt sound and also adds a bit of clarity aswell, but also makes my clean sound awesome! mines is a clone of the old boss bass chorus made in by cog effects andy
25. i would agree with the eq comment as even a low power amp through a 410 should be able to make some impression, from experience ashdown stuff flat is a bit dark so maybe as was said look to the mids and highs also if your guitarists are using alot of low end in there sound then that wnt help, also not to tell you to suck eggs or anything but a sound that works on it own will almost never work in a band context. andy
