Free or Bad Company Played in Free and a Bad Company tribute bands, know the stuff inside out in the original keys, so I could just drop in a do it.

Absolutely love the Southern Rock stuff, been into it for years, Capricorn record label and all that. Gifted musicians with so much feel. A current band from that area are Black Stone Cherry, similar feel with a heavier sound.

[/quote] I played bass (SG) in a very well respected Free tribute band a few years ago and we were pretty unique that we also had a keyboard player in the line up, listen to a lot of Free songs and it's surprising how much keyboards are featured on the recordings, Hammond, piano and mellatron. Our guitarist played through a UK hand built boutique Cornell amp, totally dry with a small touch of reverb. He played a custom PRS (more versatile) as he didn't particularly like Les Pauls and his sound was vintage Kossoff. We also had the benefit of having Jeff Rich (ex Status Quo) on the drums.

I have seen Paul Rodgers on a couple of occasions with excellent guitarists, Geoff Whitehorn (Back Street Crawler & Procol Harum) first, secondly Howard Leese (Heart), not quite Kossoff but very close. Saw Howard Leese with him again on the recent Bad Company tour. I'm surprised Simon Kirke is not doing the drumming duties on this tour, maybe he needs a rest after the Bad Company one, these guys aren't getting any younger.

Great gig last night at the Iron Horse Ranch despite problems with our PA, lost all the fold back through the monitors. Full house with a really appreciative audience. Our first gig since October last year and I now have a big blister on my index finger (very sore), will soon toughen up again after a few more gigs.

One of the original founding members (drummer) of the Allman Brothers Band has died in Florida aged 69, reports say he shot himself in the head. One of my all time favourite bands. RIP, you are now up there with your band mates Duane and Berry.
