1.
wash your hands before you play wipe down the strings after you play
Usually go for a pee before I start playing and in between sets, so that covers the washing of hands before playing. At the end of the gig I usually wipe down the strings and bass with a small golf towel.
 2. I regularly watched Rockpalast when I had my old satellite dish. Where I first spotted Joe Bonamassa, Gov't Mule and Beth Hart. I believe it's still going strong and what a great programme to see bands playing totally live.
 3. Jaz Lochrie plays a lot of fretless, seen him on tour playing bass for Paul Rodgers.
 4.
Glenn Hughes was on last night.
He was also on the Friday Night Rock Show this week, a good 20 minute very honest interview. There were also clips of the 1974 California Jam with Deep Purple introducing him and David Coverdale as the new members of the at the time the largest band in the world. He has got together again with Joe Bonnamassa and BCC are releasing a new album in September.
 5. Didn't realise a new series had started, no great loss as I have totally lost interest in it. From the look of last nights line up and comments on here, it was not for me anyway. I now watch the Friday Night Rock Show on Freeview channel 82, great little show with a couple of live bands every week.
 6. Love Living Colour. Used to do Love Rears Its Ugly Head in our band many years ago.
 7. Powered JBL's.
 8. Thanks Happy Jack Wonderful memories.
 9.
Friday night: short-notice gig at the Thistle Park Tavern in Plymouth, due to a cancellation. Did it as our original 3-piece line up as per when we started - a few weeks off 10 years ago! Blimey, where did that go... Really enjoyed going back to a trio, and the punters loved it too. Must do more as a 3-piece!
Not great news for the forth or fifth member of your band 😂😂😂😂😂😂
 10.
I smell Troll.
Because folks have a different opinions, it does not make them trolls. I personally have no time for rap, don't get it and that's my personal choice, but I respect other people's choices who do enjoy it.
 11.
'Songs Of Yesterday' by Free.
Cracking song, played it loads of times in the Free tribute band I was in.
 12. Spirit of Radio by Rush. Time signatures, very difficult to nail.
 13.
Well just when I thought my new band was coming together it all goes tits up really the singer as no PA that he said he had the guitarist whos very good as buggered off with another band all from join my band think I'll go as a one man bass band as trying to form this new venture just not happening I do miss the city sometimes for the music scene I love my little town but finding musicians who haven't been snapped up already isn't easy I'm even thinking playing guitar again and getting my mate in on bass sad times indeed but needs must I'm afraid can someone talk some sense into me before it's to late and I cross back over to the dark side oh bugger, any other band forums kicking about for my never ending quest before it's to late
A singer with no PA, come across loads of them. It would be like me turning up for a band audition with just my bass and no amp.
 14.
Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone else is in a band that pretty much doesn't practice. I recently joined but am now leaving a cover band. It's classic rock stuff, some of it slightly tricky some of it difficult. They gave a list of about 45 songs to learn and we had one run through quietly at someone's house with electronic kit etc, and then straight into gigs. I've felt like I'm constantly depping at short notice, always playing catch up. I'm used to bands that rehearse their arses off so they can perform not just play. It seems to suck the passion out of playing. I've played very well in some great bands over the years and done hundreds of gigs, both cover and original but I'm genuinely struggling here. I've been through and through the songs but find having no full rehearsals makes it very difficult to get a feel for how the band play it. Has anyone else had this experience? Thanks for reading. Cheers
The rest of your band mates seem to come over as selfish ars*holes. To learn 45 songs seems over the top for a Rock covers band, are all the songs about two minutes in length ? Twenty five songs would be ample for a two set gig in normal circumstances. We would give any new member at least six to ten rehearsals to get up to speed, it's only fair.
 15. Two bands come to mind from the 70's who I really liked. Sassafras Snafu
 16.
I had a poster of their album cover on my wall at university. Had never heard the album, just liked the Roger Dean artwork.
Yes, I remember them, also around the time of another band Greenslade.
 17.
People in good, happy, settled bands should be grateful. Once it is over it can be very hard finding or starting another. I know this from current and past experience! Sometime the planets just align and everything falls into place. Not very often though... There are a lot of unreliable time-wasters and dreamers out there (particularly on Join my Band, but that's another story!).
Totally agree with your comments about Join my Band, the amount of dickheads I encountered on that site was unbelievable.
 18. Free or Bad Company Played in Free and a Bad Company tribute bands, know the stuff inside out in the original keys, so I could just drop in a do it.
 19. No. We are a 4 piece band, what's the other two got to do.😀😀😀😀😀
 20. Absolutely love the Southern Rock stuff, been into it for years, Capricorn record label and all that. Gifted musicians with so much feel. A current band from that area are Black Stone Cherry, similar feel with a heavier sound.
 21.
It's nice enough music of it's type, but what does a second drummer add to it?
The Allmans and the Doobies done it. It worked for them.
 22.
The reason they are 'not quite Kossoff' is their use of effects. Effects will never give you the sound of Free.
I played bass (SG) in a very well respected Free tribute band a few years ago and we were pretty unique that we also had a keyboard player in the line up, listen to a lot of Free songs and it's surprising how much keyboards are featured on the recordings, Hammond, piano and mellatron. Our guitarist played through a UK hand built boutique Cornell amp, totally dry with a small touch of reverb. He played a custom PRS (more versatile) as he didn't particularly like Les Pauls and his sound was vintage Kossoff. We also had the benefit of having Jeff Rich (ex Status Quo) on the drums.
 23. I have seen Paul Rodgers on a couple of occasions with excellent guitarists, Geoff Whitehorn (Back Street Crawler & Procol Harum) first, secondly Howard Leese (Heart), not quite Kossoff but very close. Saw Howard Leese with him again on the recent Bad Company tour. I'm surprised Simon Kirke is not doing the drumming duties on this tour, maybe he needs a rest after the Bad Company one, these guys aren't getting any younger.
 24.
£65 in Pompey - for a tribute band?!
Maybe, but they will be top class musicians backing one of the greatest rock/blues vocalist in the world.
 25. Tickets arrived this week - whoopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
