1. The SVT200 is an excellent solid state head. From what I understand it was only made for a short time, then replaced by possibly the SVT350... not as good. I was looking for one for quite some time, still haven't bought one but it's definitely still on my list. Simon Gallup still uses 2 of these heads with The Cure, that's some lifespan for a amp that built in the late 80s early 90s.
2. Bassdirect are offering big discounts on the 20 series.
3. Still for sale and still in the box - reduced £49
4. I've just picked up an early Yamaha BB 300 Made In Japan. It has a very comfortable neck, not as wide as BB3000, maybe 40mm at most. It sounds fantastic.
5. Blimey. That's a stunner. Funnily enough. Spent most of last night listening to Japan.
6.
Just travelled 140 miles to purchase a Spector gig bag listed on Bass Directs website. Got there only to be told very rudely "not had them in 3 months" So why are they available to purchase via the website. I stood awkwardly while Marcus & assistant tit tattled about when one was last sold like children. Frankly Marcus seems like a very spoilt, downright rude person who has no people skills, no idea how to treat customers and has no idea how to run a business or a website. I highly recommend taking your money elsewhere, especially if you're looking to buy a new instrument. The Gallery in Camden or Bass Gear are both very friendly and will offer you a brew and a chat. Marcus will offer nothing but awkward silences and rude remarks.
Phone first... it's a 140 mile drive. That way you wouldn't have to put up sales people who on the face of have no sales skills.
7. Oh my...
8. Moon Safari is one of my fave albums ever... top quality
9. Several more videos available on Youtube with well know players giving them a rattle... they sound great to my ears and now with maple boards, nice.
10. That looks like the pedal that was recently getting a run through with Norman Watt Roy. If he signs it off as good enough, it's good enough. Price is a bit rough though.
11.
The Dog House. It's quite a way out of the city centre on Carlton Hill, but for the right band(s) can attract a decent sized audience. My band will be playing there on the 8th supporting one of the versions of Danse Society. I wouldn't bother with the Maze unless you fancy being 3rd band on a badly organised multi-band evening.
Thanks for the heads up. The Dog House looks interesting and that should be a canny night supporting The Society. Have a good one.
12. Oh blimey.
13.
Hmmmm I shall have to keep an eye out for one thanks. ABM600 or AH600? I can see Ashdown on your sig.
Ha, yes I have both... I was talking about the Ashdown ABM 600 EVO IV. It's very good.
14. Yep. I had the same issue. It went back and I bought an ABM 600... now that's an excellent head.
15. The magic of the Flanger. Enjoy the freedom. It's all good.
16. One of my dad's absolute favourites. RIP
17. Oh my goodness. That's awesome. Now... what can I sell?
18. Excellent. Thanks kids.
19. Can any one recommend a venue in Nottingham that puts on original post punk goth type bands? We are looking to travel South this year to spread a bit of Northern melancholy. Cheers
20. £12 for a set of Rotosound strings? I was paying £3 for a single string in 1987... Time catches us all in the end.
21. Playing The Library in Leeds last year for Carpe Noctum. Fantastic venue and great house pa/engineer.
