1.
Dan, I think some of the hate and complaints come from those that never quite caught on or life circumstances prevent them from getting into the money making side of their skill. Or those that live in areas where the business is not there. And there are some that will only play genres where there's no business to be had. I can only think those not in it for money are not out there playing 4 hour bar gigs 3 times a week hauling lights and PA for free. Just a little personal history. I'm not sure how I made it through working in the corporate insurance industry for 30 years. I was never much good at it and I hated the work. I was ashamed of it. Now, I have a life. I love it when someone ask what I do for a living. I can proudly say; "I play bass guitar and sing in a rock & roll band." Blue
Living the dream Blue, living the dream!! 👍👍
2. Not a classic but I saw a Samsung advert come up and really liked the sound track, turns out to be Royal Blood who I'd not heard much of before but this got my interest!
3.
It's the last note of the verse. Everything lifts into the chorus. Except the bass. Just because you can play a note doesn't mean you should.
I'm sure David Gilmour would have said if he didn't like it!!
4.
Damn I wish you'd asked him where he got his t-shirt from!
😀😀
5. Me and the man himself!! Top bloke!!!
6. Local-ish gig for me, Lion Brewery, Ash nr Aldershot. On my way messages start coming through that keyboard player has broken down near home at a petrol station. So we have played as a four piece a few times so it's no great problem to juggle the set but we have just rehearsed six new songs all of which need the keys and his vocals. Gutted was the word and our singer (drama queen) was not a happy bunny, she seemed to think he could just abandon the car and get another out of thin air so the atmosphere before we started wasn't great. Now this isn't a great paying gig and we tend to try new stuff on the locals who know us well to gauge opinion. I'm a driver by trade and as far as I was concerned sh*t happens and we just get on with it. So we plough through a first set which still went down well and come off to texts that he's managed to get the car home and chucked his gear in his missis car who luckily wasn't gigging herself. 10.50pm and he turns up, about an hours drive away! Fair play to him. 11.20 and he's rushed his arse to set up and away we go. At the end of it the new songs went down a storm and by the time we finished at about 12.30 we were buzzing and the pub was rocking. Got another tonight, more local to me, hopefully he'll be able to sort something as its a new one for us.
7.
This is more interesting, IMO. She's clearly very talented. http://youtu.be/qCIpqwJe-6o
But using a music stand???? 😎😎
8. We had a band on before us at a charity gig where the bassist was doing a twelve bar shuffle during Rocking All Over the World by the Quo! I had to walk away and wondered how the rest of the band let him get away with it. To me it was the equivalent of someone slapping over a Beatles classic!!
9.
The 1975 sound a bit like Walk The Moon to me. I don't think they have much to offer other than nostalgia but then I can be very critical. I love Peter Gabriel's music. Some of my favourites are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0GcqYGv1AA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1bMpke0yVs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JY42nrt_nIc
An absolute vocal, musical and visual genius!! I did two nights at Wembley Arena in the round, best gigs I've ever been to!!
10.
Phil Campbell "couldn't make it"...seriously? WTF
Phil was under doctors orders not to fly, Fast Eddie had visa issues due to "past sins" http://classicrock.teamrock.com/news/2016-01-11/phil-campbell-explains-lemmy-funeral-absence
11. Lbc and Metro on Facebook. Seems genuine! Gutted! RIP David Bowie
12.
Here she is:
Phwoar!!! I get me coat!!
13. Oh and if you find Dave on Facebook you'll find he is a very big classic Ibanez fan.
14. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/275694-guess-the-hootenanny-guests/page__pid__2942304__st__30#entry2942304 There's a sort of pre Hootenanny thread in off topic that has spread into the new year! Personally I was blown away by Beth Hart and Jeff Beck......man that girl can sing!!!
15. A few years ago at a gig someone came up to me in the break and told me how clever it was to put the F1 music into the last song we did. You can imagine their surprise when I told them that The Chain was the whole song, F1 bass line included!! Not a young person either! At the same gig we were asked by a youngish lad if we could play it again as it was his favourite song since it was played at his uncles funeral who had died in motor racing accident. He called his dad to come down to the pub to see us play it again!
16. What an absolute gem! Well done stumbling across that, bought a tear to my eye!
17. I have had a loading bar or sometimes two or three across the screen when using the mobile site for ages, have to click round it but it's something that never went after the last upgrade. Any idea how to get rid of it, see attached screen shot!!
18. There is a bit of a theme developing here, as much as we can give them credit for sorting the problem out they are still damaging our goods!
