    Ah the old lashed up lead singer problem. Had one of those, used to rehearse with a flask of tea and sing like a bird. Come gig day down went the booze and he turned into a complete pratt and couldn't sing bugger all. That didn't last long. Just be careful that it's not a regular thing. But apart from that well done, especially for coping with the equipment problems and getting a call back.

    My Jaydee Roadie fretless bought from Rich a while back. He put an EMG humbucker in with a 2eq stack knob when the original broke, also a Hollis pre-amp to give a kick up the mids. This is my first fretless and I'm loving it. Work is preventing me from getting out and playing more but I'm going to make a serious effort to get going.     Looking to sell for £80 ono I have had the Laney for about 6 months to use at home and get up to scratch again. It has a few scabs here and there but works and sounds great. It's only (I think) 50watts so is not going to set the world on fire but from cranking it up a bit it's got a good punch. As you can see from the photos it has a pretty good tone stage with full input/output gains and a push button pre-shape which gives a mid scoop. Likewise the mid has a parametric type sweep/gain for a good tonal variation. I'm now looking to upgrade a bit and get back out on the circuit.     I used to play in a kicking blues rock outfit and we played at the Skegness Blues Festival at Butlins. We were the first full band on after all the solo guitar guys. It went down a storm and we had a queue of people back stage asking for cd's. More than one person commented on the cracking bass sound but wondered where it came from. They thought I was playing a guitar and that the bass was taped or that the bassist was back stage. When I bought it out they were stunned that such a thing could produce such a sound. I guess people get so used to seeing a Precision or a Jazz playing blues they couldn't quite get used to it.

    One of my biggest regrets was selling my old Status 2000. It just rocked in any situation and was sooooo easy to play. It never went out of tune and I never had any problem with hand positioning. At most gigs it was DI'ed and all the sound men commented on how easy it was to get a sound. It had a great active circuit. I played a five string a few times and that sounded and played great too, the balance was excellent. At the end of the day it's about finding one to try and give it a good try out. As said you don't want to drop a load of dosh without being sure.

    Well as a Woking resident I wasn't expecting that Now here's a thing. The station isn't far away but with say a couple of basses a bit painful so I would be quite willing to run a sort of (limited) shuttle service for anyone coming by train. Obviously I want to be at the bash for as long as possible but if we could sort it for reasonable times it should be okay. I have a Merc estate so should be alright for space BUT and here's the BUT it's an old beast and up for MOT next month. I don't imagine it will be a problem (have some mechanic mates) so hopefully will be sorted for August let alone September. So as long as MOT works out we can work out some details later. Also any gear needed to be collected locally can be done within reason. Colin

    Can I just throw my Woking location in to the Guildford hat............but as said previously by others travelling to Reading or Redhill not a problem. Dates wise just depends on work so no preference.
