1.
Not so talentless that he couldn't hold down the job for close on forty years. Not my cup of tea but the idea that he is no more talented than a bag of spanners is ridiculous. Is that the highly talented guitarist etc from Muse?
My mistake.......I meant bassist Chris Wolstenholme......I read comments such as, he's an ok bass player but I hate the way he nods his head. Personally I think he's an excellent player and I don't see how he looks should influence my opinion. No I don't have links, these are comments I've noticed over the years, Clayton in particular seems to extract the ire from a lot of people, personally I think it's petty jealousy! As I read the tinterweb Bono wrote the lyrics and U2 the music, therefore it seems he (Clayton) has been involved in writing some of the biggest single and album hits over the past 3-4 decades! So many one note 8 to a bar players in famous bands and he gets it in the neck most on here.............strange!
 2.
Had to fix that for you Barney. You had Jaco in the wrong camp.
😀
 3.
Got any links? can't say as I've seen it - especially on BC.
No specific links, just comments that come up in general across the years.
 4. Adam Clayton.........apparently talentless? Mark King.......sounds like a bag of spanners? Matt Bellamy......nods his head funny!! Why so much hate for these and other players? It seems you have to be, oh say, Paul Turner, Pino or Jaco et al to get positive comments on here......or to avoid negative comments! Now I'm not a U2 fan by any stretch of the imagination but what has Clayton done to earn such vitriol? I don't know if he writes or co writes the songs but he does just what is needed, what's wrong with that? Please someone tell me? This place cracks me up sometimes!!
 5.
Nice pics. This is probably a Marmite observation, but looks-wise those Status basses have stood the test of time.
They certainly have, there's not been many variations on body shape but they still remain popular and current!
 6. A few from a festival we played last weekend, Ash Festival! A bit of concentration here! 8.
You can use a compressor in many different ways to shape the dynamic envelope of the notes you play (which reach the threshold). There are so many different ways to use a compressor, I find it crazy that people think they can summarise this whole world of possibilities with statements like "it kills dynamics" - well obviously, if that's how you've set it!!
Sometimes the biggest knob is the one behind the bass guitar!!! 😂😂
 9. I took a chance on buying a Spectracomp compressor as I'd liked the one on the BH500 head which is sold. Not looking back, it's a great across the spectrum unit! Only problem is every little bum note can be heard :-) My other half says she hasn't heard me so clearly in all the time she's been coming to gigs, especially the individual notes not just the low end rumble! Horses for courses, doesn't work for everyone, it does for me!!
 10.
I'm currently using this mini rig. Weighs in at 16kg in total and easily loud enough for my needs with no perceivable lack of "heft".
Pedal board looks interesting!! 😂
 11. If you fancy some excellent female fronted classic rock my little band have a gig or three this weekend!! 12.
Like dood, I've been checked-in here since the heady (and much quieter!) days of BassWorld v1... remarkably I've not actually spent much in the marketplace over the years, but hey, there's plenty of TIM yet
I sososo haven't got TIM for effects, unless they're good for metal!!!
 13. In excellent condition, boxed with instructions and batteries!! Woohoo!! Looking for £39 posted to uk or £35 collected from Addlestone, Surrey. Bank transfer preferred, no trades, sale only. 14.
Hey dude, was playing in the band before you (Solice) - sounded pretty good from behind the marquee when I was packing my stuff away and ain't nothing wrong with being loud! Loved your cover of The Chain" btw!
Cool stuff!!! Loved your set, your TC rig was loud!!! I had the same rig at one time but wanted a lighter weight set up!! Everyone loves the Chain, it just has to be done!! It was a great day!! Keep rocking dude!!!
 15. Best rig I've had by far!!! LM3, Shroeder 212pl 800watt 4ohm, Status Series 2 5 string, a bit of Spectracomp one knob compression and it's a killer!!
 16. So I've got my rig down to a nice lightweight one speaker solution, Markbass LM3 and a Shroeder 212pl 800watt 4ohms. Mostly been playing pubs since getting it together but last night played a largish marquee tent for a charity festival. Oh my, what a sound! No PA back up, just vocals and a bit of bass drum through it so I cranked it a bit thinking I would get a bit lost with everyone (guitar/keys) turned up to push the sound out. Normally have the volume on about 10 o'clock and that is at the most for a biggish pub, went up to just before 12 o'clock and my girlfriend who was sat right at the back behind quite a big crowd said she had never heard me so loud! Great fun gig, we were second last on so chilled with a beer to hear the final band, had a little boogie! Louder than all the other bassists apparently!! I can live with that!!
 17. Status s2 Classic 5 string. This one's a keeper!
 18. He's a damned good backing singer too!!
 19.
Okay. So had rehearsal today again. To cut a long story short. Whatever the issue was last week, it was sorted...and then some. As far as I know, everything was hooked up properly last time and the only thing could have been position of the cab and/or eq. I put the cab on top of an unused one to begin with, turned gain up/volume down, played until clipping light came on, rolled gain back a bit. Kept eq flat with VLE & VPF off. Turned volume up to 9 o'clock (where it stayed for the whole practice!!!). Rolled off some lows and that was it. Perfection!!...and really loud. Thanks everyone for the tips and advice. The whole thing seems a bit bizarre as I can't really explain why I had to crank it up last time. The settings and positioning of the cab/amp this time shouldn't have accounted for the massive difference but that's just how it goes. Absolutely bowled over with the sound and extra headroom I have now. Awesome, powerful setup!
Great stuff. The VLE and VPL can be tone killers if used badly. I have a smidge on mine depending on the overall sound out front. Mostly I just need to give the low mid a shove to cut through.
 20. Have managed to get my gear down to a more manageable level. Lightweight Schroeder 212 with a trolley if needed, LM3 in a padded laptop bag, leads in a pilot style bag with only what's needed plus a few spares, small Stagg case with 5 pedals including radio link. Mic stand, stool and a small fan. Two trips with stuff loaded onto trolley with cab if needed. One trip if girlfriend with me. Finished gig last night at 11.10 and was in the car on the way to a kebab at 11.45! Going lightweight and convenient has been due to health issues but means I have more stamina during the gig and feel better at the end loading at out.
 21. I found that after I'd got the rig together as mentioned in my previous post the loudness was there but to cut through I had to tweak a bit. A bit more low mid, not push the vpf too much and then I have a graphic pedal to scoop the mid if I'm slapping a bit, with a bit of volume pushed on it to compensate.
 22. I can't quite see what amp the OP has, MB LM3? I was the one who had the slappit and it cuts out problem, turns out the old speaker I was using was at fault. I got myself a 800watt Schroeder 212pl 4ohms. Perfect one speaker solution it seems, I play with a pretty loud band, pre-gain to just below the clip light and master on maximum 3 so far. Played a dep gig at the weekend, massive pub/club, 3 was too loud. Admittedly not the rock stuff I do in my regular band but still needed some ooomphh to fill the club. When I had my TC BH500 rig I ran a TC2x10 and a BF Compact, it would deafen at 20 yards+ I'm of the same opinion of most on here, another speaker giving 4ohms load and the amp should be ticking over at moderate volume with some to spare. Maybe you could borrow something at a rehearsal just to see if it works, otherwise your band must be epically loud!!!
