1. I've ended up with a Markbass LM3 and a Shroeder 212pl. Cab is rated at 800 watts and 4ohms so will take anything the MB throws at it and is very light. MB goes in a laptop case with my Spectracomp, tuner and radio receiver. Did an outside (open ended marquee) gig with no PA support and my gf said I was way louder than the other bassists that played earlier. Strangely I've just added a Hartke vxl pedal to get my tone!! Another big up for Barefaced though, I had a Compact and it was a one finger lift and punchy as hell, skintness forced me to sell!
 2.
Panto is awesome. I go every year without fail.
Oh no you don't!!!
 3. My band, girl singer and guitard hubby get it all!! Only time I get talked to is if another bassist is in the house which is rare. One time though I remember a guy coming up afterwards talking about his guitars etc essentially boring me to tears when he made a comment that really stood out for me, "your playing was excellent and you make it look so easy, at one with the bass! Fantastic!" That really stuck with me because although I'm not a great reader and don't practice a lot when I think about how I'm playing I realise what he was saying!
 4.
I should add it was the photographers idea and they did ask our singer (standing guard in the background) while the rest of us were outside. They didnt make any noise and we all very grateful and brought us drinks all night. And yes, she look a lot more natural on the bass than i ever do. Will and Janine Usher by Dave Pearce, on Flickr I always find it a laugh to let seem of the audience play with us, but we rarely get asked for instrument's its anomaly peoples who can "sing". Had one one guy ask to play bass on a song, I let him have my 5 string. Watched as the look of confusion crept over his face and he decided he was too drunk and couldnt make out where the strings were so gave it back.
I hope she's not a slapper!! I'll get my coat!!
 5.
I usually try to talk to the bass player after a gig, just to say 'well done, wherr are you playing next' etc. I don't tend to ask if they're on BC and I never talk gear unless they do. I've always tried to go up to at least one band member and thank them if I've enjoyed the gig, from long before I ever picked up a bass myself. I was almost put off continuing to do this after a thread on here where several individuals professed to feeling awkward when punters talked to them, or finding it tiresome in one way or another. But eventually I thought 'sod it, life's too short, if I want to compliment someone I will' And hope that deep down inside they actually appreciate it in some way.
I usually get a cuddle!! Mwah!
 6.
Can only describe our gig on Saturday night as 'Sick' (not the hip kids vernacular 'sick' either). Singer threw up on herself 10mins before show time (not nerves). I had to leave the stage during the last song to throw up (again not nerves). Drummer was pale as a pale thing the whole gig, but got through it. Only our guitar player got through unscathed, and he got the number of a delightful young lady in the audience...
Was she a nurse??
 7.
Shag his mrs and excuse yourself by telling him you're just giving her a go
I think a little wee came out!!!!
 8. Many moons ago I was in a crowd of people, mostly friends, at half time in a gig when I heard the bass firing up. I casually walked over and said to the guy playing it (Musicman Stingray 5) that it was a nice bass and how long had he had it, he then said oh I'm not the bassist I'm just giving it a go, at which point I got in his face and gave him some real grief just stopping short of throttling the bloke. He was a bit sheepish to say the least and couldn't be more apologetic after we finished the last set. All's well that ends well but I very rarely stray far from the stage/pub corner and tuck my bass behind my gear as much as possible. I sometimes think I should buy a £200 bass and a couple of hundreds of pounds worth of sound gear when I think of some of the places I play!!
 9. Total swings and roundabouts with my lot, in a 5 piece and tonight got a 40 mile-ish round trip for £60. Bit further for the drummer, considerably less for the rest. Next Friday about a 10 mile round trip for £50 and Saturday even less for £50. Most of the pubs we do pay between £250-300. Clubs a bit more. I'd say £70 per head is pretty good going, obviously I don't know the distances you travel but most pubs just pay what they pay irrespective of where you travel from.
 10.
Even his son needs a bank loan... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Y3AXzZqg2k
I have heard this so many times and it has me in tears of laughter every time!!! It's the way the other commentator casually explains what has happened on the pitch in between the joke!
 11.
There's stuff on poles and stuff on poles. I guess it depends how good the stuff on poles you were running was.
There's always someone blaming the Poles!! I'll get me coat!!!
 12. It's a non story for me too, he's been doing this since 1994! I'm sure he'd have walked by now if it was a problem for him. I feel by describing him as "the black bass player" the article shows exactly what it's trying to infer!!
 13. Don't go too mad though!!!😂 http://youtu.be/30jODCGuVtk
 14. Brilliant stuff!! I had to fix the crossover on my cab and had to leave it for a few hours for the glue on a component to dry. I very nearly walked out of my other half's flat without shutting the front room door. I imagined coming back and finding her cat had squeezed in through the handle or speaker input holder hole!! There's a forum on Facebook called Cats on Amps if anyone is interested!!
 15. There's some stuff on YouTube by Scott Devine that looks pretty good, you could sign up to his lessons too, costs a bit but seems to be rated by people on here. Also I used this back in the video days, don't know if it's available on DVD but it helped me a lot, http://youtu.be/BMTgvcX6bts
 16.
Here's a few snippets of a dep gig I did last weekend. The band & set are great fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2Xc20kBpeA
That Handbox really sounds good!! The GAS is rising!!!!
 17. Have a great piece of kit bump! Lots of pre programmed sounds available using the app. If you don't want the hassle of setting up your own sounds using a laptop there's plenty there for you!
 18.
I have done that too! cable plugged in at the amp hanging there but not connected... it took me a few minutes to realise that one. So yesterday it was probably the second thing I checked.
Actually a little bit OT but I had two TC speakers in my rig and I had just bought a B1xon multi effects. Set up a load of sounds at home and got to my first gig with it to find it was the most nasally nasty sound ever. A friends band came up to do a few in the break and I was disgusted with it. Went to pack up at the end and still disgruntled I realised I hadn't plugged in the 2x12 on the bottom. 2x10 on top, all midrangy and right in my ear and no bottom end at all!! Oh well, time for the funny farm I reckon!
 19.
Last night's gig... set up and sound check. Problem... no sound. I use a reasonable pedalboard for this band (RATM covers band)... I bypassed it and there is sound. Hmmm, another band I'd just go without but without the various overdrives, wah and phaser it would not sound right. So I start to skip pedals to troubleshoot while the band looks worried at me. I could hear a very faint 'pop' when I slapped a string hard, just that. I traced it to the second to last pedal in the chain: my EBS Multicomp compressor. It's a shame as I like it a lot, but at least I still get all my sounds on tap. It's also a shame as I had two until a week or so ago when I sold my spare one. So I ripped it off the board, put it aside and we played. I did the first set without it. Then during the break I had an 'inspiration'... you see... sometimes the knobs on the pedals move a bit despite being protected in the case. Maybe while packing, cables etc... So I was having my beer in the 'green room' and I went out to fetch the pedal. Brought it back into the light and... yup. The gain knob was at minimum... Under pressure I did not even think of checking the level of the pedal... I hope I remember this one next time!
Sometimes it's the most simple things, I've set up before now with no sound and spent a good ten minutes swapping out leads etc before realise I hadn't plugged the damned speaker in!!
 20.
Heard Barry Gibbs new single on R2 the other day "In the now" Oh the autotune!
Heard one of his new singles I think on Strictly a while back, in all honesty I thought it was awful!!
 21. I played Last Man to my girlie last night and said guess who, she wasn't sure, played a bit of Muddy, still not sure. Played This Old House and she said she was going to say Shakin' Stevens but would have felt stupid if she was wrong!!
 22. Had a band support us once, they did Rocking All Over The World by the good old Quo, bassist did a Johnny B Goode type line over the whole song!!! So all I say is, I'm not a fan of U2 but what AC does just works for what they do! I could never imagine the other guys coming to the studio and saying "hey guys I have this great song called In The Name of Love (insert any U2 song here) AC stick a really cool walking bassline of the first verse and slap the hell out of the chorus and second!!"
