1.
Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) from Star Trek TNG is in this vid.
He should have left his VISOR on!!
 2. Not sure how busy they are but Colin who runs this company sorted me out a decent bass rig a few years ago, he's a bassist too. They might be specialising more in PA stuff than repairs but may be worth a look. Just near Thorpe Park, Chertsey. http://www.cpsound.co.uk
 3. Just ordered one as my G30 is getting a bit flaky! Not gigging for a month or so as had a major op but will give it a good home testing before I head into weekend warrior land again!! Sounds like it's the business! I'll run it with its own power supply as my only pedals are a spectracomp that sits on my amp and a B1on that's on the floor by my mic stand and they both run separate supplies so shouldn't have any issues there. A few people mention the battery cover looks flimsy, has anyone had any problems? The G30 has a horrible cover and I have to cable tie it every time I change batteries!! I'm hoping the suction tape will stick to my Status (satin finish)?
 4. I sososo didn't realise that much Tim had passed!!! Happy Birthday to us!!!
 5. We're called Asylum Affair. As the band started our singer drove past a street called Asylum Street and thought maybe Asylum would do. At the same time the guitarist was starting to having marital problems (his wife shagged his old bassist) and despite the singer and guitard not liking each other much which threatened to scupper the band before it really started she let him stay with her whilst the marriage was falling apart very quickly. Needless to say they started an affair and the band name was born. 7 years on, guitard divorced, he and singer married and they have a five year old. Band still going from strength to strength. Bit of a long convoluted story but sometimes things in life can inspire a band name! Oh just to add.............sooooo many bloody pubs can't spell Asylum and change it Assylum!!!! After initial annoyance we now just laugh it off!
 6.
As soon as Living on Prayer starts, it's time to go home
Tough one this, as soon as we get to the chorus the crowd are rocking, likewise Sex on Fire! I hate SOF but my band are there to entertain so if we get to the second set and it's rocking there's no mileage in throwing something too obscure in. We are playing a couple of originals now but they're in the first half at the moment and are more listening songs. We do try to play slightly different rock stuff but some of the classics are what entertain. We generally finish with What's Up which usually turns into an all pub singing session! The more they dance, the more they drink and everyone's happy, especially the landlord!
 7.
Just try not to hit on her ...
Totally misread that as "just try not to hit her" Now that could be interesting!!
 8. I had an issue last year when the status DBE strings were unavailable, clicked on the button for the Elites and after over a week I phoned up to find that "the other guy was supposed to ring you to say they are out of stock" Give them they're due though, they did supply another make priced at nearly double for the same price for the inconvenience. Just pressed the button for some Hotwires DBE from Status, after a week no money taken and no contact, emailed them, Dawn was supposed to contact me to say they're out of stock! So it happens all over really! Not many other choices really! Best boil up the set I've got on
 9. Yup, played a pub in south London a couple of times, drew a good crowd but we're not the type of band they like in there, too classic rock as opposed to blues we guessed looking at the band list playing there. Another pub didn't want us as the (large-ish) crowd we bought were watching, clapping and cheering as opposed to dancing and getting pissed! Oh well, we have plenty of other venues to keep us going, but two ends of the spectrum with those landlords, one, we're the wrong type of band despite the crowd and the other we bring the wrong type of crowd!! Strange!!
 10.
I always keep my gear in the house. I bought a couple of cabs once that had been kept in an unheated garage over winter and they smelled musty and damp. They worked OK but surely on a long term basis that can't be good for them. Apparently our cat used to get into my 118 Mesa Boogie cab through the large slot ports at the bottom. I discovered this one night when it appeared in front of me on the pavement after I'd just unloaded outside a local gig! I managed to catch the thing and get it back into the car and back home before I had to start playing.
Our keys player keeps the PA tops in his garage. He noticed a local (hairy) cat had been in and noticed said hair on one of the cab covers. When we plugged in at a gig later that day and the singer switched this cab on there was a big flash and loud bang. On further nasal inspection it seems the cat had pissed in the top flap onto the amp section of the cab!! Beware the hairy pussy!!
 11.
He was in a wheelchair.
It does say in an article with the pics of him in a wheelchair he'd pulled out of some gigs with severe bronchitis so maybe (hopefully) it's just a passing frailty. At 71 that sort of thing can knock you for six even if you are God!!
 12. I'm a youngster of 56 and dreading the next couple of months, we have a very full diary but I'm going to be laid up for a good while as I'm having major surgery week after next. My health problems restrict me in some ways, no long walks or flights of stairs but I've been able to gig and work ok. Both these are totally out of the window post op, going to be a tough few months. I did my last gig last night and it was a cracker, a bit bittersweet though, it'll remind me of what I'm missing. I intend to gig on for as long as possible, when I look at some of the guys on here it gives me a lot of encouragement to do this. Blue, yes you're only 64 but 4 hour bar gigs??!! That's just immense!! I hope I can maintain myself to that fitness! Hopefully in the long run this op will help to do this, I have a singer friend of 78 who is doing a four night tour in Germany soon, he still cuts it big time!! As Magnum(the band) said, "I don't need no rocking chair!"
 13.
I've always thought Thin Lizzy's 'Waiting for an alibi' gives a great representation of a phased Bass sound. Nice and high in the mix too.
Likewise Dancing in the Moonlight!!
 14.
Where do all the locked threads go? I've noticed that they start to bunch together as they can't be replied to. As more of the threads between them get replies and move back up to the top the locked threads end up stuck together forever. Is there a pile of them at the bottom of the canal? .
They'll be swallowed up eventually!!
 15.
firstly, sorry to hear of your loss, my ex died too, ten years ago about watching people at work, I used to go watch my female housemate at her work all the time. Nothing weird in watching her work. oh, did I mention she was a stripper? great days, stripper parties at home lol
Of course you invited all your mates round............ didn't you??
 16.
The thing is i live in central London and walk to work, so i have no need of a car during the weeks, and living where i do i would hav eot pay for a parking permit etc. The GF has a car so it would be pointless me learning to drive now, as i just dont need a car. In the past it was decided that no matter who drove we would only split the petrol expenses between two cars, as we could fit all 4 member sand all the gear in two cars, so again, there was no real need for me to have a car,and pointless me learning to drive if i didnt have one.
No problem Dave, not a dig at you but more at what I considered to be an arrogant post digging at the OP, like I've already said, we don't know what circumstances mean he can't see himself getting his licence!
 17.
Im 54 and cant drive. Ive been gigging over the past 20 years doing functions/weddings etc, but as i do depend on lifts it has reduced my opportunity to join good bands or leave the ones im not happy in. At one stage i had two rigs which i would leave with different drummers from the different bands i was playing with. That saved a lot of hassle. The past couple of years my GF has been our singer, and as we live together its been great. Its helped a lot being in bands with mates, but i know i would have been a lot happier if i had been more independent.
Time to grow up and learn to drive............. apparently
 18.
personally, I don't know anyone over 16 that can't drive. Why do you think you won't have to learn? you will be a pain in the arse in any band you join. Can I get a lift to the rehearsal? I can't get to that gig by bus, can I grab a lift? My fridge won't fit on my bicycle, can I grab a lift? Seriously dude, learn to friggin drive like every adult does. Or forget about gigging. I would never even audition a musician without their own transport. Time to grow up and learn to drive.
Wow!! Perhaps you should get some idea of the original posters circumstances before you start ordering him what to do, lessons are very extensive and expensive, cars are expensive to buy/run and new driver insurance is massively prohibitive. I'm a 56yo with full NCD and a virtually spotless driving record but I don't earn a lot so can struggle to pay the small amount of insurance I have, who knows what the OP can afford?
 19.
Is Guy still on here?
Don't ask!!!! Oh crap, you did!!
