1.
I find it highly amusing...... Not that I play many pubs but we do try and play around ten pubs per year so that we can invite potential (mostly wedding) clients too. I always go in with the same blurb that we are not your average pub band (we play predominantly Disco covers) and that always gets raised eyes from the landlords/ladys. That'll never go down well here mate, they love the rock'..... I always make a bet with them there and then. If we don't entertain your punters as well as the best bands you have in here then we'll play for free. So far (7 years) we've not had to go down that route. It does amaze me when you see 90% of the bands playing the local circuit that have a similar set.... why is it that bands think they have to do this.... Are they worried to go outside of their comfort zone? Any way here's our set list - Carwash Play That Funky Music Ladies Night Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Groove Is In The Heart Turn On Tune In Cop Out We Are Family Jive Talking Get Down On It Kiss Kung Fu Fighting That's The Way I Like It Get Down Tonight Night Fever More Than A Woman Signed Sealed Delivered Pick Up The Pieces Treasure 1999 Good Times I Want Your Love Le Freak Move On Up Superstition Disco Inferno Funky Town Mighty Real Long Train/Jagger Uptown Funk Staying Alive You Should Be Dancing I Wish
Let me know if you need a dep.......love that set list!! We play classic rock with a girlie singer, yes we do bloody sex/mustang/Dakota if needed but also try some other stuff that we think other bands don't play, Patty Smith/Pat Benetar/Heart etc, we also do stuff that is male singer driven but hopefully a bit different, ie Unchain My Heart by Joe Cocker, AC/DC, Springsteen!! We are playing a festival next weekend and we're on about 4th from 6, guaranteed that sex/dakota will have been played once or twice already! I'll be begging my singer not to include them if so, myself and the guitarist hate them with a passion! At least I know the headline band won't be playing them as its my mates band and I know the set list!!!
2.
It's a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, 1.2 GHz Quad Core
Any good for metal??
3.
I'm a terrible bass player, musician and person so I never even try to learn most bass lines! I much prefer making stuff up on the fly so I learn the chords (roughly) and then just throw in the odd riff reminiscent of the original to keep the rest of the band off my back
You're not the bass player I saw a few years ago doing a walking bass line to Rocking All Over the World by the Quo are you??
4. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Wells Great violinist this girl......I'm going to see her in concert soon!
5.
In my Floyd tribute band, we were playing the whole of Dark Side. I got some funny looks when I kicked off side 2 when the rest of the band were only halfway through side 1. Ah well, time is money....
BRILLIANT!!!
6. This thread is better than counting Sheep, it's really hit the wall!
7. Repetition seems to be a common theme on here!
8. Repetition seems to be a common theme on here!
9. Mavericks....Dance the night Away......dead easy to play, but again the constant repetition makes it a nightmare!!
10. BUMP! Have some free dates this year, would be good to pick some extra work up, mid to end June plus odd other dates.
11. In Eastbourne later until Saturday and wondering if there's anything on at all, prefer rock/pop/soul covers type thing, hopefully not far from the pier so I can have a beer or ten! TIA!
12. Saw Nathan East using the Ditto at his bass clinic in Guildford last week, most excellent!!!
13. Fantastic night! What a player and what fascinating stories to tell!
14. I think there were some others on here that were going, I briefly saw Hamster supping a pint in the foyer!!! And strangely ended up sitting next to two guys that knew me from my band!!!
15. Great night with Nathan showing his stuff last night. Run by Andertons with TC and Yamaha he demoed some of the gear and kept us enthralled with stories of his career. A smashing bloke and a fantastic player, so grounded considering the stars he's worked with.
16. So as per my picture I stack my 2x10 on top of my 2x12 end on, as I have no PA support I'm cranked up to project out to the massed throngs in the Dog and Dinnerplate most weekends so of course get quite an earful of myself when playing a tight area. I'm going to experiment laying them side on side at the next gig. How do you stack yours? And how does it sound?
17.
Living Next Door to Alice. Ouch! I feel your pain
Oh no, you lived next door to her as well??? Nightmare!!
18. http://news.sky.com/story/1484379/blues-legend-bb-king-dies-in-las-vegas Sad news :-(
19. Tickets bought! Look for the big bald bloke in some sort of bass related t-shirt!!!
20.
Supposing he breaks your toilet?
Has he put on weight??
21.
I wouldn't be able to do it these days Blue. It would mean retirement from gigging for me. I had to rest up all day yesterday to recover from a 2 hour 30 min gig on Saturday night
^^^^ This!!!!
