  1. Problem solved... Have bought a bass specific drive pedal. DG Alpha Omicron
  2. Harley Bentons are very good just stock. I don't think you will get a wildly different instrument by making upgrades tbh. I have gigged my Harley Benton a few times this year, no modification at all required.
  3. In terms of layout, controls and size it's similar to the old Darkglass Duality which is an absolutely phenomenal pedal so I've got big expectations.
  4. Arrived in the post this morning. Going to test it out tomorrow hopefully.
  5. Nice! I need one for my jazz, where did you get it?
  6. Music, and jam nights especially, are not the Olympics/ Superbowl/ FA Cup Final. Nobody is paying to watch and there shouldn't be a competitive element. In my first ever gig I fluffed a song I knew inside out having practiced a whole year as a band before the gig, I played a three chord sequence on the A string rather than the E. I left the stage at the end in a huff with myself for messing up but it seems it was only me and the drummer who noticed, and he was laughing it off. The guitarist who was usually a bit of a taskmaster just said "I thought something was off but guessed it was me". Nobody watching noticed or cared because they were too busy enjoying it. Now when I make a mistake I can generally laugh it off with the rest of the band, and work on it later... unless it's a whopper like getting an iconic riff completely wrong, then I accept the bum kicking!
  7. Ah, That's why I like it, Aria SB type position markers!
  8. Updated price Set of four lefty tuners, brand new with mounting screws etc. Chrome. Never used. Got them for a project, considered putting them on my Harley Benton but actually spending on pedals at the moment so need to recover some cash. £50 posted which is a saving of around £25 on buying them new off Thomann.
  9. I don't usually find the Yamaha BB attractive to look at though they sound great, but I really like that, especially the pickguard shape.
  10. Well regarded guitar distortion/ overdrive that sounds pretty good on bass too with it's EQ options. In very good working condition. Photos to follow. Add £5 for postage.
  11. Selling this great chewy distortion. It's a guitar pedal, it's ok for bass, can be modified to work better with bass. Please add £5 if you want it posted. Photos to follow.
  12. And so it continues! BF-3 flanger and Dod FX25-B envelope filter added. No room for the Joyo analogue delay right now. More changes to come, I'm going to move on the Marshall Guv'nor and Boss DS-1, much as it pains me to do so, and replace with one good quality bass distortion pedal.
  13. Listened to all of this in installments. It's like when you go to the pub with a mate but he's got his other mate there and they talk about things you weren't part of and can only relate to a little bit. I had to search out "Voodoo" and will now give it a listen but not knowing that album or it's history made the vast majority of that podcast just background noise, sadly. I'd have loved to hear more about some of his pop work in the 80s and the experience of playing with the Who but it was barely touched upon, unless during parts where I fell asleep.
  14. My JC bass is so pretty I chose that to feature in the estate agents photo of my office. Perched on a stand in front of my amp. Classy, old school, sparkly gold but not brash. It's perfect.
  15. I had one for a brief while. In summary: good for passive P bass, not good for active jazz bass. As with all of these things, you really need to try it with your kit and your playing, because what sounds great for me may be awful for you and vice versa. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but generally I want to love EHX stuff but always end up disappointed, apart from the Micro Q Tron.
  16. I can sort of do that with my preamp pedal but it kind of gives me too weak a version of each. I'd prefer if the DS-1 didn't pull so much of the bottom end and the punch out of the sound but kept the distortion.
  17. Has anyone here modified a boss DS-1 to let more bass through? Is it worth doing? How tricky is it? There's loads of resources on the internet but instead of trusting just anything I'd rather trust advice on BC!
  18. I've got the same power block and use the EU-UK adaptor. Hum is quite rare, even in rooms with lots of interference.
  19. FX25-B: So I had one of these years and years back, inspired of course by the Flea VHS. I loved it but realistically it never got used in a band setting. I've since joined other bands, used wah pedal a fair bit, and got the itch for one of these once more. These days I have more effects at my toe tips and understand creating synth sounds a little better. For me, this and the EHX Micro Q Tron are fantastic pedals, but seeing the value of these sky rocket I thought I'd beat get one and keep hold of it no matter what. But it will appear in my bands set, that's guaranteed! BF-3: Again, I had a Boss bass flanger before, the old brown one, and wanted something a bit different for current usage. Bought from the BC Marketplace and immediately put to use on Wednesday nights practice, the drummer immediately loved the thickness of the sound. I've not done anything crazy with it yet but it adds a layer of texture that will really help carry some songs live.
  20. Beautiful bass! And justify what to whom? You already know you need wildly different settings on this therefore it's sufficiently differentiated from your other basses.
  21. That's pretty insensitive. He is on record, many times, as being very anti racist. There's a very heartwarming old American TV interview where a young boy writes in saying his dad won't let him listen to metal because it's white music, and Lemmy's response is excellent. Anyways, imagine how good Metallica would have been if Lars hadn't kicked Dave Mustaine's dog??
  22. I spec'd one up in the mod shop, but aside from the look is there any other advantage? I thought it looked unique but if they're doing them on standard models now I'm less keen!
  23. Interesting, I felt sorry for Kirk but thought he whined a lot. And his lyrics were utterly dreadful. The therapist guy though... What was he playing at?! The whole thing is an interesting watch. It's interesting to see the bass auditions and how some of the bassists are just awful, would sound bad in a pub covers band, Trujillo is the only one who seems like a professional musician and he is seriously good. I get the impression the others are impressed and a little intimidated by his musicianship and calm manner/ lack of ego.
  24. @TheGreek you must have the pyjamas, duvet set, everything of this, surely?!
