  1. Thanks everyone. I've already got the Behringer P2 for "silent" practice at the drummers house and I use my Ashdown Meters Headphones with that. I was thinking something wireless would be better, it's a bit clumsy with the cables. I don't wander off often but found going wireless on my bass really liberating and don't want to go back to being hardwired to something, and this is where the cost concerns are!
  2. SOLD PENDING PAYMENT ETC Never been out the pack. Bought for a project that won't happen now, sadly. £26+ postage, just trying to recover what I paid out for it. Listing other parts too...
  3. Bought for a project that never happened. Black jazz neck from a Chinese eBay seller. Maple neck, rosewood board. Decent quality, tuner holes are in line and fit Fender replacement spec tuners (have tried with Sadowskys). Plastic nut installed as a "reverse" so it's upside down for left handers or ready to go if you're doing a reverse headstock thing. Just trying to recover what I paid for it at £65+ postage.
  4. Now £40 plus postage. Just trying to recover what I spent on this. New old stock never used Hofner 189 body. These were jazz style basses but the routs are big enough for something more fun. Bought for a project that never happened. Other bits going up for sale soon...
  5. Well, some people never learn do they??!! Having been patient in putting together the parts list I'm now left to nurse my pride and temper my over excitement. The cost for the bits I can't do is prohibitive. I've got to kill the project and try to recover what I can from parts that can be returned and refunded, and the rest are at the mercy of the Marketplace/ eBay. Sad, but I can't sink £500+ into this.
  6. Mooer copy of the Boss Acoustic simulator. Originally for electric guitars also sounds pretty good on bass! Surplus to requirement. £35+ postage. Site not letting me add photos but can send if wanted.
  7. Andy Baxter has one up for sale if anyone is feeling flush.
  8. Yes - it makes them appear married, and thus, unavailable to the groupies..... Yeah I was not alluding to that! They're respectable, decent men.
  9. It's a great idea!!! Just over twenty years ago I had the idea to have a rock band that played covers of songs from the Vietnam war films, all dressed up as American GI's of course. Then there was my acoustic duo where we wanted to do loads of 80s electronics but with acoustic guitars... Didn't get off the ground, sadly.
  10. I'm left handed so it doesn't affect me, but the right handed guitarists in my band both remove theirs to play because it causes them issues.
  11. Yes I have. But the venue having a sound limiter has nothing to do with my pedals being either on or off when I plug them in as I don't crank my amp to gig volumes then ram a load of noise through them willy nilly, or power off my whole board mid gig then back on again for a "surprise" mix of effects that could cause volume spikes. I don't see how a venue having a sound limiter has anything to do with the issue of whether certain pedals are on or off by default when the board is powered up. My point is a typical effects pedal can only be either on or off, there is no other state. Some people will want them all off when plugged in, others all on so the manufacturer can't win in setting the default for their products. In the grand scheme of things I just don't see how it is causing anyone an issue other than having to turn on or off whichever pedal they don't want to be off or on before they play.
  12. I dipped into it. Have to admit that while I'd happily take a good set it they were given to me for free it's the thought of spending astronomical money on them that is the main thing putting me off.
  13. Wowsers. This whole IEM business was making me uncomfortable anyway due to the astronomic cost. This thread is helping me waste my money on more basses and effects rather than IEMs that I REALLY don't think I need!
  14. Bought a US Fender jazz from them earlier this year, all good. Have bought other bits from them in the past and will continue to do so in future. While I'd find it difficult to pay custom shop prices without having seen the bass in person there is something to be said for the distance selling regulations that protect online buyers more than those who buy in person which could be a better bet when spending that kind of money.
  15. My approach to a bandmate with awful backing vocals in the past band was to ask "were you trying to sing higher or lower than the lead there?" And the answer of "I dunno, just singing along" led to others saying thanks but please don't. Job done, we then talked about who does which bit and how, practiced and got better.
  16. Well! We had a bit of a issue before the gig in that I snapped a string on my US Jazz and used my reserve bass, a fretless, all night. This meant changing the LMB-3 settings to enhance (as in the manuals recommended settings) rather than any kind of compression because that's how I like it on fretless. So now my Boss Tuner and LMB-3 are before the Microbass, everything else through the loop of the Microbass, and this seems to be a lot more effective. There's still some low end loss when using the DS-1 but this is the beauty of the Microbass being able to dial up or down the effects loop mix, so when I know I'm going to want the DS-1 I'll take the effects mix down to 60:40 wet:dry and hopefully retain enough low end but keep the gnarliness of the DS-1. Gig on January 5th to find out!
  17. Hi everyone. The band are trying to persuade me to try IEMs. My singer has a transmitter, a Shure PSM200, and he uses a P2R receiver. If I get a P2R and some headphones I can also go wireless IEM with a few limitations that I can live with. Here's the question.... The P2R is discontinued but I can see P3R and P4R units for sale second hand. Does anyone know if they will work with the PSM200? Thanks!
  18. You got the whole rig for £150????!!!!! Bargain.
  19. If that plays half as good as it looks..!!!! Lovely rescue job.
  20. Well, there has been a lull in activity on this one but a long night unable to sleep and a bit of online shopping and I'm a microstep further along by buying the chrome bits I need. Now, all that's left to procure in terms of parts are the pots and wiring. I will do as much as I can with self assembly, which won't be a lot to be honest: fitting the tuners to the neck, fitting the strap buttons, shielding inside the pickup cavities... That's about it! Because the body has never been used it's not even been drilled out for the bridge so that needs properly measuring, with a original neck that needs some fettling I want to hand this over to a professional. Once it's all pieced together and functional then I'll see how it is, see how I find the pickups and when I'm happy I'll make cardboard templates for the pickguard and send these to gig.ink to get made up. The interesting part will then be looking back at what I've spent and once again comparing it to what I could have bought from Sire! Easily a V3, but if it gets into brand new V7 money then I'm hoping it's a really unique bass in terms of sound and playability, not just looks and back-story.
  21. I don't understand why it's an issue? Unless you arrive at a gig with just enough time to plug in your board before the first note is played? Plug in the effects board, some effects light up and are engaged straight away, some don't, turn off the ones you don't want. For me the ones that don't automatically turn on I have to give a little check to make sure they do so I know that no leads have slipped out in storage or transport. Really failing to see a problem with this whether they're automatically on or off.
  22. Yes you can use the Boss software. Maybe instead of "needs" the external software I should have said it's highly advisable to use that because it's way, way better than the Boss software. It's also free. And I was talking about the GT10-B not the GT1-B.
  23. These are fantastic if you can find one reasonably priced. However, for what you describe I'm not sure it's the right unit. It also needs external software made by some chap on talkbass and hours upon hours of studying if you want to create your own patches for things like synth sounds. There's better tech in a smaller footprint these days.
