  1. I think there's a HUGE difference between the real US made Musicman and the Sterling/ Sub/ Sterling Sterling by Ray Sterling or whatever they want to call it. IMO the Musicman three band EQ is fantastic, rolling up the mids really changes the bass when playing live, though a lot prefer the two band. I love the EQ on the Sire V7s also but it's far more subtle and tame. From reading your post you already have both basses so.... What's your view? I would think the two, while having some overlap, probably have a lot of difference either way. Then there's what you can do if you use flatwound strings on one or other. What is it you want out of the Musicman that you're not getting from the Sire?
  2. I'm not sure I could do it to myself... But the logic is that selling off all my individual pedals will more than cover the cost. I should then no longer have multiple points of potential failure or having to keep buying new effects for a particular sound then selling it to get one I like better, upgrading certain pedals, and the latest problem: volume differences across different pedals. So frustrating.
  3. The more I think about it the closer I am to buying one... And undoing almost three years worth of work on my pedalboard!
  4. My band money is paid to the singer. We work on the understanding that 50% goes to a band fund for costs, the other 50% is distributed to us when there's a decent amount built up. Band costs are things like XLR cables, insurance, website costs, annual guitar servicing, mic stands... And an annual trip to Amsterdam where the gig fee is only about 20% of the cost of the weekend.
  5. The entire Street Survivors album is fantastic. You probably want to listen to the Hotel California album too by the Eagles
  6. Agree it's odd, I wouldn't have expected them to continue down this route when they have a high tech option, but I also expect they've done their research and these things will sell. Know what you mean about the presents but on my old GT10-B which was a phenomenal bit of kit the presets were actually usable bass tones on the most part and very well thought out, instead of wacky nonsense just because they could. If it has the functionality and some of the presets of the old GT10-B but physical knobs it will be awesome.
  7. I'd make it the drummer's problem... Sounds like something metal needs to be hit with something else. Or, if your drummer has a sample pad or any kind of electronic drum kit it's easy enough to do.
  8. I agree there's "better" tech out there but this probably sits in the middle: great sound quality but physical controls so you don't have to be programming for hours on end. I can see the appeal of both.
  9. I've never needed to use them for repairs but this is why I bought new Ashdown amps: if anything goes wrong I can phone them and get it sorted.
  10. Earth, wind and fire. I'll get my coat.
  11. Lovely looking bass! Now rip the sleeves off your denim jacket and get shredding
  12. I had the lefty version, very, very nice bass. I'd say that's a decent price too, everywhere else seems to want a lot closer to £1000 for MIJ basses these days. Mine had a solid neck but not too thick and chunky, decent hardware, great clarity of sound. I'd snap that up if I were right handed with £825 to spend on a p bass.
  13. That's it!!!! It was a few months ago and I never had chance to look it up. Just listening to it right now. Guess I wasn't concentrating enough to understand the message but listening now... Yeah, I misread that one!
  14. Agreed. When I need to use my wife's car I suffer Radio 1, I am forty so it's not aimed at me but the sheer vacuousness of the presenting, the music, and even how they have to explain the news... It's quite sad really. One Sunday morning they were playing Wet Leg and then a song came on, some singer songwriter type thing where this lad sings about breaking up with a girl he met in church and how that made him question his faith and it really hit me. Not because of the message itself but because it was on Radio 1 at hangover time and I thought it was incredibly profound for that station at that time of day.
  15. Probably a smart move though. Some won't want the features but do still want lightweight and "five hundred watts" (please, nobody touch that can of worms). Looks like they've now covered what they wanted to make and what a wider range of people will want to buy. Interesting that the matching 1x12 cab takes 500w so it is a proper portable rig without needing a second cab to get the full Welly... From what I understood.
  16. In my office, where all my music gear is kept, I have a Positive Grid Spark for practice. It's a great piece of kit but doesn't really have any heft at all so I've got an SWR Working Pro 10 which is a fantastic little wedge combo amp and is adequate for gigs where there's decent PA with subs.
  17. This literally was in my (spare) bedroom.
  18. Phwoooooooaaaaaaaaarr
  19. @Happy Jack gave me good advice on this type of thing before and has some nifty videos of himself doing what you describe...
  20. I'm pretty sure there's one of these on eBay right now. Caught it out the corner of my eye before I could filter to left handed.
  21. In seriousness I always thought the Antigua finish had a green hue to it, not this weird khaki brown. I like the original Antigua, but if I had one of these I'd get a custom pickguard made that features chunks of carrot, urinal cakes and cigarette butts.
  22. Try immodium. Take two at the onset of illness and one after each loose movement.
  23. I am pretty sure there was a Steinberger Spirit twin neck headless in the early 2000's. Definitely a guitar but I think a bass too....
  24. I also have a big brother. I have two older brothers but only one of them is bigger than me.
