1. Do any of the Dave Hall (DHA VT) pedals have parametrics on? I'm not sure. If not, you might have to put a valve preamp & a parametric EQ in an FX loop pedal, one with a wet/dry blend.
2.
I have several cool basses, amps and a nice effects pedal board. I'm not buying anything. Blue
This is exactly where I'm at now. And I'm very happy with all my pedals and basses. But why am I still checking the classifieds here and elsewhere just in case something interesting comes up? I guess 'fracking' sums it up. What hope is there for me??
3. I just bought a pedal from Tonteee. He's quick to reply to PMs and the pedal arrived fast. It was really well packed too. Definitely recommended. Thanks Tonteee
4. The Ginger and the Blueberry both do warmer valve type grind. Although they're great at what they do, neither of these have a blend. If you're after a bit of gnarly treble bite blended in with your clean sound to help with note definition, then the Bass Soul Food will absolutely do it. And it's dead cheap. I wasn't sold on the BSF until I used it at gig volume - it really comes alive when it's loud, and mine's not moving off my board anytime soon.
5. My COG Knightfall 66 still has me grinning every time I turn it on. A close second is a recent purchase - a VFE/Runoffgroove Ginger. A lovely pre amp that's inspired by the Ampeg Portaflex. It breaks up really nicely across all the strings, subtle at times, but so effective.
6. That'll teach me to pay better attention lol. It's the JHS pedals that I'd love to try.
7. The Crayon and Colour Box both look like cracking pedals.
8. Yes!!

Zoom B3

Straight into the input will work just fine.

Zoom B3

You might be pleasantly surprised to hear the new breed of digital multi effects. They're not the hissy tone suckers that they used to be. Things have moved on a lot since the bad old days. I don't gig my B3 any more as I have an MS60B on my board that does what I need right now just fine. Although I'm a pedal nut too, if I had a gig where stage space was a real problem I'd happily use my B3 instead of my board. It is that good IMO.

Zoom B3

I never found the B3 a problem to use live. They're not fiddly at all, easy to tweak on the fly too.

Pedal preamps?

I recently got an Xotic Bass BB pre amp pedal. It doesn't overly colour my sound and the drive is lovely. I'm sure there are loads of You Tube videos demoing it. It's definitely worth considering.
13. I hope you all have a merry Christmas. I'm about to crack open a large bottle of Baileys, the one I was supposed to be saving for tomorrow. Yum yum. Cheers
14.
From what I have seen and read about Mark King he's a good guy, who isn't afraid to laugh at himself
Actually, he's got quite a reputation for being a grumpy f****er.
15. AKG D112 here - for live work it beats my DI sound hands down. For recording I always use DI and a mic.
16. Talk to Tom at COG Effects. That'd be an easy build for him, and possibly pretty small too.
17. This is currently in the classifieds: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/274160-providence-dual-bass-station-2-input-2-channel-3-band-eq-with-sweepable-mids-pedal-l140/

Diabolik!

That's good to hear. I've been thinking about getting one for a while and the YT demos seem good. It'll be a toss up between the Diabolik and a Duality. Although my only other Darkglass experience has been a VMT and I was really disappointed with it.
19.
My Squier P Bass Special would fit the bill if you can find one second hand. Precision body, Jazz neck like a matchstick and PJ pups. Cheap as chips and sounds great with a set of Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders slapped in it.
I've gigged and recorded with one of these for 15 years, with the same SDs in. Plays and sounds the business. Better than a lot of Fenders I've tried.
20. A couple of months ago I got a Squire CV P from the classifieds here. I loved the bass but didn't get on with the chunky P neck so I got a Mighty Mite J neck (cost was a tad under £100). The bass plays like a dream for me now, it's become my main gigging instrument.
21. I bought a Hofner travel bass a few months ago. It was going stupidly cheap (and I'm a sucker for an impulse buy). I thought it'd be good for taking on public transport, cycling, living room rehearsals, tour bus, stuff like that where a full size instrument would be a pain to carry or play. The tone from the humbucker is a bit thin. It came with rounds on which I quickly changed to flats. That helped a bit with the sound but it's far from 'deep' tonally. It's a handy tool for occasional use. I shouldn't like it but I'm happy I have it, but I'd never gig with it.
22.
I do sometimes wonder can McCartney slap?
You nearly made me spit my coffee all over the place!! Ha ha. Seriously though, if I ever heard him slapping the bass I'd hunt him down and slap him myself.
23.
an opening chord that does it, and probably the first time such an intro was used, though no doubt someone will be along very soon to prove me wrong, again, A Hard Days Night,
This one does it for me too. I just found an interesting link that tells the story of that chord - http://www.beatlesbible.com/features/hard-days-night-chord/
24. I wonder, did Leo Fender get a reaction like this when he went to Musicman, or started G&L?
25. I've no idea who these guys or gals are, but I've just seen this ad on Gumtree and I thought I'd share it on here in case somebody is interested. They're in Paisley, Scotland.
