1. I recently picked up a TC Corona just to have a decent chorus on hand in case I needed one at some point. As it turns out, I messed about with the tone print and now I have that set as a killer flanger. I have it in a parallel looper with a bit of clean and it's my new go to sound to beef up my sound during guitar solos, with maybe some dirt added too. The chorus isn't too shabby either. But I really love my flanger.
Did you measure the bias voltage or just adjust by ear?
I asked Peter at VFE and his advice was to use my ears. I did mark the trim pots though, so I can get them back to their original settings, or at least close to it, if I ever choose to.

Also, most effect models have a wet/dry blend. I don't know what kind of sounds you're in to but be sure to play around with this, it's a great feature that most of the original pedals didn't have.

When you've created a new patch just save it where you want , for example, A1, A2, A3 etc. This replaces the factory preset. For stand alone effects do you mean move them around in the effects list? They can't be moved but you'll soon get to know the order of the list and it only takes a few seconds to scroll round the list to find your favourites.
5. What about a dedicated boost pedal? It's up to you how you set it, subtle or big boost, depending on your needs. I use one to just when I want 'more' of whatever sound (clean or driven) I'm using at the time.
6. I remember seeing one on Gumtree a few weeks ago. They do come up from time to time. Also keep an eye on Coda Music second hand section.
On testing last night I found with the gain low it sounded FANTASTIC. As soon as gain was over a quarter it farted on every note.
My Ginger came with the biasing already set to the ROG specs (I had mine made by VFE) and it had pretty much no clean at all. I've since adjusted the biases back a bit and it's brought the pedal to life. Mine doesn't start to break up now until the gain is at 9 o@clock. I love it.

9. I picked up a Sonic Blue CV 60's P here last year. It's my go-to gigging bass now. The pick ups sound great with my rig. This one came with a Tonestyler 10 tone control which is way more versatile than the standard treble roll off. The only major thing I've changed is the neck, I put a Mighty Mite J on it, I prefer J necks on my P basses. I get a lot of positive comments about the sound and it looks great too.
10. Don't be worrying about something that hasn't happened yet. And yes, go have some fun with them.
11. I saw this TC BH250 review the other day. Around 1.50 he puts in an octave toneprint which tracks down to the low B, and it tracks chords too. I haven't used this octaver myself so I can't comment on it further but having picked up a Corona chorus recently I can say the tone print thing is great and very tweakable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WFrPr_40d8
12. I beg to differ, it is a guitar, it's a bass guitar. And I play one. I don't care what I'm called, unless somebody ignorantly spells it 'base'.
13. Back on topic, when you eventually get a new guitarist and realise that he listens as well as he plays & he's fun to hang out with, then you'll wonder why you took so long to get rid of the plonker you have now.
14.
How do the iem work? Can you just use Bluetooth headsets?
If you use IEMs they would plug in to an auxillary output, so you'd either be cabled or you'd use a standard transmitter/reciever system. I don't know of any system that would work with bluetooth headsets. Maybe somebody else knows more than I do about this though.
15. There can be some crap to put up with, but you'll find that in any job I guess.
16. I've tried out this pedal and it's a cracker. As Dannybuoy said, its a brighter version of the Blueberry, and he's spot on there. Somebody snap this up. Have a bump on me
17. I gig for a living and I certainly don't feel it's another form of rut. Saturdays and some Fridays are my bigger earning nights doing functions, the rest of my gigs are generally pub/bar work. Like Blue, I love what I do. I may not be a rich man but I'm happy in my work. I approach my gigs with the attitude that I'm going to play to my best ability and put on a good show, like most of the musicians around me. And after all these years I still get excited getting ready to leave the house for a gig. I don't have time for half-arsed performances and attitudes. I do take my work seriously and yes, it's still a job, but it beats doing 40+ hours a week in an office or warehouse. I know this because I've done both. I have the best job in the world and long may it continue.
18. Give yourselves extra time on the set up & sound check on the next gig or three. I found that it took a few gigs to be good and quick getting sound check done. Make sure you ring out the monitors too. And tell the band to be patient with your sound guy, he's got a learning curve ahead of him but he'll get there soon enough.
19. I had a go on a PJB Bighead recently. It was fabulous. My bass sounded amazing. Definitely worth the money if you can stretch your budget.
20. TC Mojomojo overdrive (this rocks on guitar & bass), 3 Leaf Groove Regulator 2 filter, TC Corona chorus, Bearfoot Blueberry overdrive.
21. Something like this maybe? http://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_xenyx_302_usb.htm
22. Big Muff for me. A close second is my old EHX Double Muff pedal, raw & nasty, lovely.
23. I've been using a Mackie DL1608 & iPads for a year now with my own bands and as an independant PA man. It's brilliant. Proper Logic style EQs wipe the floor with the traditional Bass/Mid/Treble found on analogue desks. And I have 6 auxes. The interface is easy to navigate and it didn't take me long to get to know it. Actually, I'd downloaded the free app before I got the mixer & iPad so I knew how it worked before I even had the hardware. I even use it on bigger 7+ piece bands down to small 3 piece pub gigs because it's just so good. You can save everything - EQs, comps, gates, whole channel strips, complete mixes (incl auxes), which makes life really easy. The wireless mixing thing isn't for everyone, but I'm sticking with my Mackie.
24. That'd be right up Tom's street. A Tubescreamer with bass/mid/treble/presence, blend, and maybe a HPF on the wet signal too? Hmmm, could be tasty!!
25. From my experience, the stock Bad Monkey doesn't retain much low end. It may work for you if you're thinking of blending though.
