  6. But, the thing about TOTP was that it was part of the fabric of everyone's lives for decades. every Thursday evening the programme aired for 30 minutes. Whole families warched it. Some acts were pop dross, some were good, and sometimes there was sonething whuch blew your mind and created memories whuch still resonate decades later. Because it was on BBC One, it was something which the whole nation saw, and inevitably created a point of conversation afterwards. Fridays were spent at school or work talking about what was on. Music was a main talking point which no longer is the case as people aren't given music as a main part of their day to day lives anymore. the Cowell crap-athon now only presents acts as being worthwhile if they have a "back story". Any melodic factor is secondary to the tabloid garbage. "Later..." has many faults, but its the only ongoing live music programme around in the UK right now, and I'm glad it's there.

  8. I enjoyed it. Having acts playing live, with mistakes and fluctuations, is still preferable in my opinion, to the homogenised Simon Cowell fayre on offer elsewhere. Passenger - nice track. Lloyd Cole - I enjoyed the rawness of the band. I guess I'm just a fan of hearing people make a musical noise. I've been this way for 35 years, and my delight in music hasn't faded yet.

  11. Apparently my monthly bandwidth resets on the 28th of each month. I was thinking of upgrading the photobucket account, but its just something I use for fun. Vant see the need to pay out for something ive used for many years on a free basis. Anyone know if another free photo hosfing site?

  13. I hsd a Custom Shop '61 Jazz with a quartersawn neck, and yes, it did make a difference to the sound. The extra stiffness made the bass a bit more "lively" than on the equivalent flatsawn version. the sound wasn't "better", but it certainly made a difference in that the bass had more overtones than the flatsawn version. To my ears it sounded a bit more "modern".

  15. The clear gloss on the neck has been applied. I've also rolled the fingerboard edges to give the neck a played-in, comfortable feel.   16. Thanks matey! I'm now resigning myself to the forthcoming wait for the lacquer to dry out before final flatting and buffing. I'll get the Olympic White on the body flatted tomorrow, then get the clear gloss topcoats on. I'll then need to leave it all for a few weeks to harden properly before final flatting, and then buffing to a shine.

  18. Okay, on to the body. I've applied a thin coat of white primer, time now to apply the Olympic White - slowly does it. I've used a '62 style one as the build is influenced by the 62 body layout with a '66 style neck. When the decal has dried out I'll apply clear gloss iver the Olympic White.   20. Okay, masking off edges before spraying. Here are some pics to show you what I mean. I've used a pickup routing hole as an example. first, apply some masking tape to the area, ensuring some of the tape goes over the edge. This wears away the tape at the crease, which allows you to peel off the excess easily. Thevrnd resukt being a neat masking of the area in question.   21. Here's the trick - you simply use a single piece of masking tape which covers above the edge. Then, use a small file (or something similar) to rub along the covered edge. The file wears away the masking along the sharp edge. You then simply peel off the excess, leaving you with neat masking right up to the edge of the headstock. I'll post some pics later showing what I mean
