I couldnt possibly comment on the Cardiff course but seeing as you are based in Wales, would you get cheaper entrance fees as a result of Welsh Assembly? (this may have changed now as Im out of the loop all things educational) Saying that, I dont suppose its wise to choose a University on financial terms if the course/facilities aren't up to scratch. I did see a performance by the graduating jazz students from the welsh college of music and drama few years back conducted and written by Keith Tippett which was fantastic

Ive got a MIM jazz from 2000 as well. the only mods Ive done is stuck in some SD Basslines pups. Im happy with them but I'd love to try one with some wizards in it just to compare. Ive never had a problem with the bridge so I couldnt possibly comment on replacing it and Im really happy with the tuners.

I have an autographed Elvis album, not by elvis but my mate Dave. I have a polyphonic spree gown and all their autographs nicely framed. a feat considering there's so many of em and a signed Daniel Johnston print which is pretty cool- not to everyones tastes but hey there ya go here's an example of the kind of stuff he does Oh yeah and various doctor who bits and bobs from the last few years as a result of working on it

Does anyone sing or hum the bassline they are playing?Stu-khag replied to Paul S's topic in General Discussion I dont do it with bass although I will occasionally make a monkey face when concentrating. Whenever Ive had a go of a wah wah with a guitar I always make wah wah shapes and noises with my mouth?

tis a sad tale of events and it'll be awful if cardiff loses yet another venue. Great venue even if I have been to only two gigs there since its opened. (efterklang the other week and King Creosote in may). Both were fantastic! Fingers crossed I'll get to see Mabon there next week as well.

I had a similar noise coming out of bass once- turns out it was because I had my mobile phone in my pocket

Where does this get all of these guitars from? Does he advertise specifically? I can imagine it goes something like this- Need Cash? Routed your vintage guitars with a spoon and a metal comb? Painted it 80's style with your own bare hands? Turned that lovely Jazz Bass into a cut and shut job? Don't worry, I won't tell!!!- all guitars picked up discreetly and sold from a secret location in Germany...
Ive got one of the old F*nder headstock Texas Standard models & it blows away any Strat I've ever played. An absolutely fantastic guitar, especially as I only paid £179.00 for it in my local Cash Converters!
Bargainous! my mates just paid quite a bit more for one in cardiff as well. He's got three Blade guitars and swears by them, in fact I really like them too. Ive never played a blade bass but Im sure they're just as nice

I bought a banjo a couple of months ago from the Chris Bryant shop on the corner. I cant say they had much in the way of bass stock but I was really happy with the service in there. didnt feel pressured at all, was welcomed to try whatever I fancied and had a pretty good deal on the banjo with hardcase... I found Wunjos to be quite welcoming but the other shops were awful. When I was younger I always fancied working in a guitar shop- thank God I didn't as I bet I'd end up like one of those cynical grumpy b*ggers. Their hearts must sink when they hear some songs for the umpteenth time!

Anyone know a good source of band t shirts?Stu-khag replied to vmaxblues's topic in General Discussion I had a load of t shirts done through Swansea prison. apparrently there's a lot of small businesses running out of prison but they are not allowed to advertise.

Cardiff / M4 / S Wales Bass Bash venues? Any ideas?Stu-khag replied to OldGit's topic in General Discussion the chapter carpark reopened about 3 weeks ago- I think you are probably right about noise also- they are trying to extend licensing as well so probably would prefer to not P*ss off the neighbourhood- still, you can only ask I guess (1 bonus is they do have the best selection of german beers ever !) another option maybe is the musicbox rehearsal studios off penarth road??? that would I guess cost though and you might get a bit of cabin fever inside! nice place and they have a selection of orange amps- mmm http://www.musicboxstudios.co.uk/

Cardiff / M4 / S Wales Bass Bash venues? Any ideas?Stu-khag replied to OldGit's topic in General Discussion I love chapter (it helps my gf works there also)... I can find out but my only concern for the place is that a.) its being refurbished with an opening at some point this autumn. b.) its an old school so its a bit echoe-y what with the big rooms and lots of shiny surfaces!
