1. It would make a great coffee table type book!
2. weren't the living end a punk band? From australia, I vaguely remember the bassist playing a chequered upright
3.
Let me know if the buyer for your bass falls through
ditto!
4. Pah! there's something sly and underhanded about emails... its like getting dumped by text message. gutless! All the best and keep on keeping on.
5. I cant say it sounds anything like a cranked up overdriven ampeg and Im not sure what exactly a Gallien or Trace sound like. I have been told its great for Jazz though! I found it loud enough when I gigged with it... I played in a kind of space rock band with it and it did me proud. for me it was albout the clean and warm loud sound. I can't say I've ever really played with the controls and tried getting that kind of rocky sound. Someone else may be a better judge of its good for rock I let a friend do two gigs with it who plays in a hardcore/ metal band - he liked it but wanted an ampeg sound so went out out and bought the ampeg whole kit along with an 8x10 cab Here's a link to some stuff I use to play and it suited it fine. 10. sorry if this has been asked before but whats the deal with the little routed round hole on my Fender Jazz under the pick guard? its about the size of a 10p and about a centimetre deep I bought it in 2000. Is it something to do with an active version of the bass? (mine is just a standard passive red wine Jazz) I'll take a photo of it if its an anomaly but methinks its probably quite common on this model? thanks Stu
11. All very nice but can I ask exactly what is the maple ramp for?
12.
Remember over here a new MIM costs 750 and a MIA costs 1450 just about
sheesh quite expensive! I bought my mex Jazz bass in 2000 in Cardiff for £340 so there's inflation for ya! Im not sure what the prices are like now but a few years ago when I lived in west wales I managed to get a foot passenger ferry and rail return from carmarthen to Rosslare (including a bus to Wexford) for 13 pounds! if it was still that kind of price I'd say come over and get one. (I doubt thats much of an easy option though!)
13. It seems a bit pricey to me considering its missing tuners and electrics. I'd say you're looking at roughly an extra 30-40 pounds maybe a bit less for those bits plus then consider you may want to change the pups. body doesnt look in particularly good nick either... I'd reccomend doing a search around the for sale section for past mexican Fenders that have been sold recently for a good idea. perhaps put a post in the wanted area? I vaguely remember seeing a working one that was a little tatty cosmetically go for around the 200 pound mark. I have the same colour and looking at it, roughly same age mex jazz. I changed the electronics and love it. I'd say buy one thats complete and usable now and then start tinkering with it.
14. blooming ell!! 560 dollars (or 340 quid?) crazy money... I'd like to email whoever wins this to see if they will be doing anything with it and perhaps maybe do a restoration diary!!!
15. Anyone else seen this? (apologies if its been posted before) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1958-Gibson-EB-2-Bas...%3A1%7C294%3A50 its in pretty rough condition- I'd love one but I dont think I'd like to touch this one though (I wish epiphone would reissue their rivolis again!)
16. he looks a damn sight better than the pics I remember seeing of him a while back on a bbc story (edit here's the link http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6131854.stm) awesome chops, in more than 1 way!

19. I nearly bought one in 2000 brand new but chose a Mex jazz bass instead. I remember them being labelled Fender Corona Jazz Bass... The bloke in the shop at the time said it was mexican bits assembled in the US or did he say american bits assembled in mexico?
20. Its got to be worth more than £350 although I'd agree it does depend on how quick you want to sell it. Ive seen them online from around £520 upwards. Ive seen one in a local shop a few pounds shy of 600 quid. if its mint and you have an invoice with the setup work thats been done , surely its worth a punt offering it for near that price and see what happens. People can only haggle it down then.
