I'd love an EB2 or epiphone/ tokai/ jap equivalent. There's something so cool about them... I couldn't justify buying an old one but I wish epiphone would bring out some budget versions- any suggestions much appreciated!
2. hey guys, Ive decided I need to get rid of this. tried selling last year but didnt try hard enough. SWR 350 head (pre Fender, the model after the red one). NEW PICS AT BOTTOM (CAPS LOCK MADNESS! ARGGH!) Ive owned it 3 years. it needed a good service but now in good condition (thanks to Nobles, Cardiff). Ive kept it in a rackmounted flight case. a bit of the front paint has come off the face but not major (pictures to be taken to show this- SEE AT BOTTOM- I SHALL TAKE BETTER PICTURES IF REQUESTED!) In total, its played around 10 gigs since its been serviced as Ive not been doing anything major thats needed me to take it places. Hows about £220? (with flight case, can be sold without) REDUCED TO £200 WITH FLIGHT CASE Im happy to look into the idea of posting this. Due to imminent move Im not able to consider trades for this! CAB IS SOLD SWR Triad 1 Cab. one of the early ones thats in good working order. a little bit rough around the edges due to being through a few gigs/attacked by my old cat (its got that fuzzy lining on it). I have one picture of the rig so far which I will upload but will take more pics. CAB IS NOW SOLD!!!! head is sold. all sold for 350 Will sell as a complete rig for £400 but happy to split. 3. I have a Laney combo that's sitting doing nothing. Not sure on the model number but will check it out later(it may be an RB7) The controls look similar to the head pictured.
4. I have no experience with instruments but I have experience with camera equipment. We took roughly 300 grands worth of equipment and put it all through as luggage. didnt lock any of it but used cable ties. It all went swimmingly however, one of the crew managed to pick up an 80 grand lens from some other company...(apparrently it was on its way to a Madonna video shoot) I'll point out that all the kit was in peli cases with custom cut foam. they are virtually indestructible. If I ever need to take a guitar abroad, Im getting a peli case!
5. Well, probably not as much as I paid it! I'll have to research the going rate for one and get back to you but Im open to offers
6. Well here's my rig. Swr 350 (mk2?) and I think its a Triad 1. Would ya believe Ive not gigged with it in over two years (and it got serviced just before its last outing doh!) It was such a blast playing it live and I love the triad 3 way speaker setup Its currently used as a key stand in my old flat. Such a shame Im not gigging for the forseeable.(Coming to a for sale site near you!)
7. I'll keep my eyes peeled for it here in Cardiff.
8. I bought a job lot of gear a few years ago and it included a 5 string vintage musicman copy... Really nice looker and sounded good to me but Ive never got on with 5 stringers so sold it. the guy I sold it to still has it and its his main axe
9. the only advantage I can see for these is that it wont matter if you knock them about a bit- I find the first few dings on a new guitar quite painful, its only after a year or two that it doesnt bother me.
10. Still havent seen my mate who's back from Marrakech last week. will ask him. Check out Cob records in Bangor. they may be able to help.
11. pre christmas bump before I stick it on ebay in the new year
12. +1 for socket testers. Ive got a martindale which has served me well.
13. Hi guys, for sale one Ibanez SB 7 bass synth pedal. A bit of fun, I bought it from someone on the old bassworld pedal. (cant remember who) Ive used it only a handful times in my bedroom and no problems to report. Its great fun but no use for me as Im currently without band I can post pics (see below) - TAKEN FROM IBANEZ SITE If you're looking for new tones or you're still smoldering with resentment against synth bass keyboard players who took our gigs in the 80's, the SB7 is the ticket. You've got real time feel'in other words no annoying tracking errors and delays. You can even play chords. Then there's a funky auto-wah (think "Theme from Shaft"), an 80's style synth bass sound (now it's our turn to take THEIR gigs), and a deep and heavy synth bass. And although we know it's oh-so-very-crass to talk price when we're talking art, before you shell out your hard earned bucks on a bass synth effect, check the price of ours vs. "the other guy's." H'mmm. Yours for £30 inc postage If you want to pick it up/ test it, Im in Cardiff SOLD!!!
14. Down to 1 again, My mex Fender Jazz. had a Hamer cruise bass and cheapo acoustic but sold em as they were surplus to requirements.
15. I'll speak to my mate who is from Anglesey. (he's away at the mo) There is a bit of a music scene in the area although I dont know how vibrant it is. Worth thinking about that Bangor is just over the bridge from there also. check out http://www.linktowales.co.uk which has a lot of north wales musicians frequenting it.
16. Apologies for putting this in bass effects but I guess those in the know may have some knowledge of guitar pedal resources. does anyone know of a good online effects forum that can help value a pedal for me? its an Ibanez OD II overdrive pedal. Very early seventies (old ibanez logo) and I think pre tubescreamer. Sounds great through a valve amp with guitars but not particularly of use with my bass setup hence no use for it at this point in time.

18. I love the bassline and sound in Kill all hippies. Dirty and full of groove!
19. Im tempted by the Santogold album. Ive bought a few as it was my birthday I bought: Danny and the Champions of the World (self titled)- beautiful and really uplifting The Best of Gong- (I liked the cover and I keep being told I should check them out) Michah P Hinson- (not sure on title, awesome album) Cafe Penguin Orchestra- Signs of Life. good so far. Arcade Fire- Neon Bible. LCD Sound system album (dunno what its called
20. I was going to suggest Sams guitars in bangor but I hear the shop has gone. Was a nice shop if I remember.
21. I was filming in Kew Gardens a month or two back in their wood specimens depository... big lumps of all these rare woods they had collected over the centuries just sitting there. (all under controlled temperatures of course!) I was drawing basses in my head on all the various bits. If I had access to a saw that day goodness knows what I would have tried pinching!

CD Reviews

Cardiff's buzz magazine are pretty good at reviewing stuff. They've got quite a big circulation in the wales and west as well. Mind you, their reviews can be pretty brutal if they don't like it! also check out Adam Walton on BBC radio Wales who plays a huge range of stuff. If its new and from Wales (I see you are based here) theres a good chance he'll play it. this music round table is closed for now but no doubt he will do more if it works. here's an email I recieved from him earlier this month : On Sunday 26th October 2008 we start a new section of the Sunday night new music show on BBC Radio Wales [10pm - 1am]. A panel drawn from experts within different facets of the Welsh music industry will be coming in to offer their objective and constructive advice on your recordings. This *IS NOT* a battle of the bands. No one will be a winner, or a loser. This won't be empty, facetious punditry. The aim is to get you, the musicians, some clear advice as to how you can progress. The experts are: HUW WILLIAMS -- former singer with the legendary Pooh Sticks; ex-manager of 60ft Dolls, Big Leaves, Novocaine etc. Head honcho of Townhill Records. Helped found the Welsh Music Foundation. Worked as A&R for a number of labels, & Sony / ATV publishing. JO BARTLETT -- member of It's Jo and Danny [and, before that, Blue Train]. Co-founder of Wales' very highly respected Green Man Festival. GREG HAVER -- acclaimed record producer who has worked with Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals, Bullet For My Valentine, Mel C, Hot Puppies and many many more. I will play 5 of the most interesting unsigned recordings that have arrived recently to the panel to see what advice they can offer the bands concerned. ** YOU HAVE UNTIL 10PM ON TUESDAY 14th OCTOBER to get your recordings to me if you would like to participate. ** Regardless of whether you want your music played to the panel, if you have a question for one of our experts, please get in touch. Want some advice on how to best present yourself to a record label? Huw will have some good advice. What are the most important things to consider when recording your demo? Greg will have some excellent tips. How should you go about trying to get on at one the summer's musical festivals? How difficult is it to set up your own? Jo, clearly, has bucket loads of experience in this respect. HIGH QUALITY .mp3's & YOUR QUESTIONS to: [email protected] please or, CD's to: Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales, Library & Arts Centre, Rhosddu Rd., WREXHAM LL11 1NF
