I might pop down if I can - I didn't know you had a new band. Are you playing DB at all? Not much room for one on that stage! Bit of a funny setup that venue, stand downstairs and I get a good view of your shins, or go upstairs and I can just see your heads! Played my first ever gig there.

Also check out the Status half rounds. They are rounds ground down to be as smooth as flats and sound like a mixture of both.

I have a local shop Clas Olson (like a cross between Ikea, Maplin and Homebase!) that sell the good ol' lead stuff: [url="http://www.clasohlson.co.uk/Siteseeker/Search_o.aspx?q=solder"]http://www.clasohlson.co.uk/Siteseeker/Sea...o.aspx?q=solder[/url] I tried the Maplin silver solder and not only is it hard to melt, it doesn't stick anywhere near as well as the 60/40.

For a traditional P-Bass sound but with a tad more growl and clarity, the Lindy Fralin pickups are top notch (although you'll have to get em from the US).

The 1024X / 1025X is supposed to be pretty much the same thing but without the exotic voodoo wood treatment, for less than half the price. Never seen one in the flesh though, although I really like the chrome pickguard on the X models.

Not that I find her playing particularly inspiring, but overall I have to say my favourite P-Bass player is Ginger Reyes: But if you're talking about actual bass playing, then I guess it would have to be Geezer Butler and James Jamerson.

Only seen em on Thomman.de, but kind live to try one too to see if it's worth the upgrade from the BB415.

I think you made the right choice! You could do with a 15" cab though for proper old school thump!

The Behringer BDI21 is a darn good Sansamp knock-off and is only £22 new. If money is tight, it's a no-brainer!
