1. The memory of moshing to this live in 1999 will stay with me forever. Simply amazing.
2.
Hmmm...who would you rate as being a good female slapper?
Kim Clarke - Defunkt Check out their 1982 album, Thermonuclear Sweat. I love slap and I prefer the hard hitters; Larry Graham, Prince, Flea, Louis Johnson. Not keen on the short strap, bass under the chin typewritery machine gun stuff! I know Sly Stone was talking about sing-alongs but what he said describes how I feel about slap bass; "Now a lot of people don't like to do it, because they feel it might be old fashion. But you must dig that it is not a fashion in the first place, it is a feeling. And if it was good in the past, it's still good".
3.
Tim smith.
I was going to suggest Jon Poole. I know the solo to Fiery Gun Hand is the result of some clever editing but his interpretation live was stunning.
4. Pearl Jam - what beige sounds like.
5. Prince - Kiss A hit. A solo. Played by Wendy Melvoin.
6.
thats made my day!
Watching the drummer watching the guitar go flying cracked me up!
7. No Problem T-Bay, happy to help.
8. PiL - Public Image Nirvana - Breed Motorhead - Ace of Spades
9. Fugazi - Repeater fIREHOSE - Flying The Flannel
10. I've had my 1974 Fender Jazz since 1993. I thought it was old when I got it!
11. Shocked and saddened. One of my all time favourites. Saw Soundgarden too few times, from Shepherds Bush in 1994 to Hyde Park just a few years ago, but they were gigs I won't forget. Was listening to Superunknown last night. Head down.

Got in from work today. A red Royal Mail "Sorry we missed you" card was on the floor. The card said my parcel could be collected from the Royal Mail Feltham Delivery Office. I live in Cheshire. The Feltham Delivery Office is 190 miles away.
13. 12 o'clock. North. Paula Abdul - Straight up.
14. Prince - Another Lonely Christmas.
15.
Yes, they're excellent strings. The only downside is that they don't make an ultralight version like Superwound used to do. String busters have got some Supersteps on offer at the moment in a couple of different guages - if you look at the list on the website they are marked as "Overstocked" and are about £7.00 a set cheaper than normal.
Brilliant. Thanks Rhys.
16.
Might be La Bella supersteps if they have exposed cores. If it's a REALLY old set they might be Superwounds, if that's the case you're out of luck beause they don't make them anymore.
Thanks for the information, Rhys. I think they may be Superwounds. And if they are its a shame they don't make them anymore cause they still sound good and they've been played a lot. Any experience with the Supersteps?
17. I need help identifying a set of strings;

Round wound
Black silks
Exposed core at the bridge
Its an old set I've got that I love the sound of and would like to buy a new set of; its just that I can't for the life of me remember who made them. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
18.
Another Stingray fancier here. Even though the sound is not what I want I'm after, I still love the look of them. I went out and got a lovely black and maple SUB to quench my urge but that still sits in its gig bag.
Me too. I've had a 78 and an 04; both amazing instruments and I wish I still had them. Currently considering getting a SUB myself.
19. Well you could start with Freak Out! and work your way through! If there's a particular song/piece of his you've heard then you could seek out albums from that era. I started by seeing a video of a performance of King Kong which I incorrectly guessed as being from the mid 70s (there was no caption on the video tape I'd borrowed). So I bought a mid 70s LP and worked backwards until I hit 1968 and there it was! By that time I'd got fully into his early 70s. After that I just carried on from 1975 and worked forward. The You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore series are a good mix of songs from different albums/eras. You might want to give them a listen. There's a load of material and plenty I didn't get into straight away and now love. So be bold! What have you heard so far?
20. Ooh I like that. Vocals remind me of For You.
21. George Harrison - Stuck Inside A Cloud
22. Freiheit - Keeping the Dream Alive
23. Gary Byrd and the GB Experience - The Crown Flash and the Pan - Waiting for a Train These two immediately came to mind. Then it struck me that they were released within weeks of each other in 1983. How's that for laughs?
24. The Rollins Band supporting the Chili Peppers at The Brixton Academy in 1992. Great gig all the same. Motorhead didn't strike me as being too loud; just good n loud, if you know what I mean? AC/DC at Download were possibly the loudest band I've heard at an outdoor gig.
