  1. I bought this Ray24CA a couple of weeks ago on EBay and instantly loved it. It plays and sounds so good. It was a hit with band mates last week at practice. It came set up lovely and complete with new flatwounds and a great hard foam case. Anyway this is my way of saying go for it.
  2. We had our first last week. It was bloody brilliant. Have fun.
  3. Bought effects from sk8 today - couldn’t have been any easier as it turned out we share the same village, good old Basschat. Thanks.
  4. I use the iRig for at home quiet practice. Great for playing solo or with tracks. Cheap as well. IMO better than the Vox.
  5. Chris - go for it and like you said you have the time to practice. Don’t forget most of us probably found holding a new instrument slightly alien to start with. I would imagine you have had to learn to adapt anyway since your teens. I am a lefty but play right handed by some strange quirk as it feels more comfortable. Best of luck and get the basics right when you start. Paddy.
  6. I have been given a one bass only rule by my lovely wife, if I buy one I need to sell one. I now own 3 basses! P Squire Flea Jazz PJ Ibanez
  7. It might be too late but before moving I would sand any sharp edges of that new block where the tail gat touches.
  8. Top man. Thanks!
  9. Registered Mental Health Nurse - currently working in a homeless hostel as part of their outreach team. I walk the streets looking for rough sleepers and try to help them. As you can imagine I have cursed the recent weather!
  10. John lent me his double bass. What a nice guy and a great ambassador for Basschat.
  11. I tried loads of different sets of strings on my previous bass and settled with Innovation Silver and Golden Slaps - I found them great for both pizz/slap.
  12. Bought DB strings from Normski - very smooth from start to finish. Thanks.
  13. Just looked again at the chart. My strings have a ball end not loops - so can’t be velvets.
  14. I looked at this chart and completely missed those. Thanks.
  15. Dear all, I have just bought a double bass that came with a spare set of strings. I have searched but unable to find what the make the strings are. Can someone help identify? E, black A, blue D, green G, red Paddy.
  16. +1 for Alan Wilson’s Western Star - it’s got to be worth the trip for anything Rockabilly. Paddy.
  17. Sure did. The nice guys from Orange were amazing. Send them an email and explain the problem - Orange knew straight away with mine what the issue was. Paddy.

Bought a pedal from Will. Arrived super speedy and in pristine condition. Absolutely recommend.
  19. Mojo Mojo Overdrive in mint condition. Price includes UK postage. Paddy.
  20. Definitely give a 3/4 DB a go. There’s no alternative if you want to play authentic Bluegrass IMO. I made a fairly easy transition from DB to bass guitar so going the other way way will be fine. Have fun if you get one and DB Bluegrass is a blast.
  21. Advice needed. Last night at band practice my Terror (old model) stopped working. Initially I briefly lost sound for a brief period and then it came back but the main light was fading and then getting brighter until it went out. Luckily we had TE that I could use. I tried the Terror again later and it briefly worked before stopping again. The amp was not overly hot and the fan was working. Does this sound familiar to anyone and any advice to get it working again would be appreciated. I have emailed Orange this morning but I’m an inpatient sod. Paddy.
  22. EBay have made it difficult to put an advert on without ‘best offer’ automatically being included! I got a motorcycle part at a great price last week - my first cheeky offer was accepted 😎
  23. Or this.
  24. Why not buy quality used flats from Basschat?
