  1. These generally sell quite well on the double bass forum. Mine was invaluable when playing upright.
  2. That’s a great price for some lucky person especially with the 24hr courier included! GLWTS.
  3. I had to google it - Wiki so must be true; Nasal sebum, also known as nose grease/oil, is grease removed from the surface of the human nose. The pores of the lateral creases (where the nose joins the face) of the exterior of the nose create and store more oil and grease than pores elsewhere on the human body, forming a readily available source of small quantities of grease or oil. The grease is a particularly oily form of sebum, thought to contain more squalene (C30H50) than the secretions from other parts of the skin.[citation needed] It is notable because nose grease is a convenient durable lubricant.
  4. I was told by an upright player years ago that the grease from the nose is unique and a fantastic lubricant when playing! Could be a load of rubbish but he said it with conviction 😎🤔
  5. This could be a long shot but I am looking to trade my Barefaced Super Midget Gen 3 for a Big Baby 2 or Super Compact. The price is there as I had to put something in to advertise. The Midget is in fantastic condition. Just for transparency Barefaced replaced the driver approx 1 ago when the original stopped working as it should during practice in a studio. All up and running exactly as new. Should anyone wish to trade, discuss money and how to proceed further then please PM me. I am based just outside of Bristol - BS397ND and could be happy to courier.
  6. Huge thanks to stewblack for the loan of his Barefaced cabs this week!
  7. I don’t get out much but went to see The Melvins in Bristol last week. Great show and heavy with 2 bassists. Made me want to get out to more gigs!
  8. garyt - great advice thank you. I’m in no real hurry if I’m honest with myself! For now Stew has very kindly offered me a loan for a practice/gig and at least at that point I will know the way forward. Thanks to all that have answered my post. Paddy.
  9. That’s amazingly cool of you and I am only up the road from you in Paulton.
  10. I saw this but don’t know much about them. What ever cab I expected to buy I knew I would have to increase the weight.
  11. Lack of funds currently but I may hang fire for another Barefaced to appear in the classifieds. Its probably more of a want than a necessity at present 🤔
  12. Frank, this could be the solution and was throwing it out there for other suggestions. Paddy.
  13. Lack of ££££ - if I had the funds I would add a 2nd 12’ Barefaced.
  14. Thanks, I had looked at these. Price is right but would the pair give me more presence compared to my Midget. I will struggle and need to be convinced to move the Midget on as it’s been a super cab 😎 - I had a wobble just putting the topic on the forum!
  15. I am thinking of changing my cab which is a Barefaced Midget Gen 3 for something else and looking for recommendations in the £500 range. I have recently joined a rock band and use a Orange Terror 500, Fender Flea Jazz and no current effects. I originally bought the Midget when playing upright in a folk rock band. I love the weight of the Midget but it just doesn’t seem to have the oomph when playing in my current line up which is considerably louder than my previous band. I would preferrably like something relatively lightweight. I don’t have the cash to add a second cab and will need to sale the Midget to buy the next cab. Suggestions greatly received. Paddy.
  16. I would ask what gigs they wanted me to take part in over the next 6 months including fees and then make my mind up from this.
  17. Thanks
  18. Thanks, Ive mailed Guy.
  19. Nothing from https://www.basschat.co.uk/profile/11294-ashdown-engineering/ Has any one else got any advice or is the amp destined for the skip ☹️
  20. Thanks, just messaged them.
  21. Dear Basschatters, I have a used Ashdown Toneman 600 that has been sat around not being used for about 1 year. Plugged it in yesterday and no sound, it was running fine last time I used. The amp lights up and and fans working but the VU needle is not moving unless I put the compression on then the needle moves to about midpoint and just stays there. I know all my cables are fine as I ran them through my Terror. I have had the amp out of its housing and no fuses are blown including the ones in front panel and nothing else obvious. Any ideas for a fix before I give up on this amp? Paddy
  22. Mine could actually talk to me/smile at me and make me feel more welcome. I’ve had 2 negative experiences and I won’t give them the chance for a third.
  23. Recieved Barefaced email today showing new ranged of colourful ONE 10 I think these look stunning and want one now! DON'T BE DULL, GET COLOURFUL
  24. I used a TB500 and Super Midget Gen 3 for my first gig last night - alternative rock band, bass, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, loud drummer, vocals. My set up appeared to have room to spare and complements where made by the bassist from the band we sharing the bill with.
  25. Just bought a pedal off Timo - smooth transaction, great comms and item as described.
