  1. The uprights like these and might be worth posting in ‘DB buy and sale’.
  2. Thanks for all your thoughts. I had band practice last night and started with the Terror eq and then onto effects whilst fiddling as much as I could. The effects are def cutting through more and I will get used to a new clean sound. Only one of the two guitarist made last night so next week will be the real test. Paddy.
  3. I briefly used a Little Bear BS1 and just bought a Cusack Screamer Fuzz.
  4. Stew - congrats on both counts. Treat yourself to a Shapla top of Norton high st!
  5. Thanks all - lots of good suggestions. I will apply some of these next week at band practice. I am very happy with how my tone without pedals but some of our songs would be enhanced by a bit of something different. Paddy.

  7. I’m fairly new to playing with pedals in a band setting. My pedals sound great when setting up solo but seem to get lost in the band. Any advice and tips for getting the fuzz and distortion to cut through the mix? Paddy.
  8. Just received effects pedal. Great comms and arrived super quick. Thanks.

  10. I bought this Ray24CA a couple of weeks ago on EBay and instantly loved it. It plays and sounds so good. It was a hit with band mates last week at practice. It came set up lovely and complete with new flatwounds and a great hard foam case. Anyway this is my way of saying go for it.
  11. We had our first last week. It was bloody brilliant. Have fun.
  12. Bought effects from sk8 today - couldn’t have been any easier as it turned out we share the same village, good old Basschat. Thanks.
  13. I use the iRig for at home quiet practice. Great for playing solo or with tracks. Cheap as well. IMO better than the Vox.

  15. Chris - go for it and like you said you have the time to practice. Don’t forget most of us probably found holding a new instrument slightly alien to start with. I would imagine you have had to learn to adapt anyway since your teens. I am a lefty but play right handed by some strange quirk as it feels more comfortable. Best of luck and get the basics right when you start. Paddy.
  16. I have been given a one bass only rule by my lovely wife, if I buy one I need to sell one. I now own 3 basses! P Squire Flea Jazz PJ Ibanez
  17. It might be too late but before moving I would sand any sharp edges of that new block where the tail gat touches.
  18. Registered Mental Health Nurse - currently working in a homeless hostel as part of their outreach team. I walk the streets looking for rough sleepers and try to help them. As you can imagine I have cursed the recent weather!
  19. John lent me his double bass. What a nice guy and a great ambassador for Basschat.

  21. I tried loads of different sets of strings on my previous bass and settled with Innovation Silver and Golden Slaps - I found them great for both pizz/slap.
  22. Bought DB strings from Normski - very smooth from start to finish. Thanks.
  23. Just looked again at the chart. My strings have a ball end not loops - so can’t be velvets.
