  1. Last night was a private party for insurance company Bought By Many down in Brighton; wasn't great - started badly as the singer got the address wrong, so a last minute re-direction and then stress about parking in a residents only bay at 19:15, when I shouldn't have parked there until 20:00 but parking near the venue otherwise was all but impossible - usual poor Brighton parking made worse by the Great Escape festival being on. The venue wasn't really right for a band, not a lot of space and a lot of hard surfaces, that, plus the good weather meant a lot of people were out in the garden and we got asked to turn down a few times. I think they'd have been better off with a DJ to be honest. Tonight we're playing a pub I don't expect to be a lot better - long drive, small space, sound limiter; but at least we'll be well prepared for a wedding on Saturday (sadly not at Windsor)
  2. At The Drive In's performance of One Armed Scissor on Jules seems to have disappeared off YouTube, which is a shame as its brilliant
  3. I had a rattle on one of Hartke's big Pro4200 cabs - 4x10 with a horn-like tweeter in the middle. I discovered, in the studio unfortunately, that when a loud note was played there was an audible rattle; we stripped the cab, tightened everything up but the rattle persisted. I ended up having to drive into London (from Kingston) to hire an Ampeg to record with. I later found out that the issue was a great big upholstery staple was on the tweeter magnet, so when I played a loud note it shook off, but was then immediately pulled back onto the magnet. Unfortunately, it was just the angle the tweeter was hanging that we missed it when trying to get rid of the noise in the studio, as it was a better cab than the Ampeg.
  4. It can go the other way as well, wasn't Nick Fyffe in a Jamiroquai tribute band before getting the call from JK?
  5. I'm all about subtitles these days, it means I actually understand the plot of what I'm watching rather missing something important because a character mumbled.
  6. That, is awesome
  7. Bump, I keep forgetting to bring it back into work to weigh it on the shipping scales; will try and remember tomorrow.
  8. I certainly see the appeal of tribute bands and done well can be great fun, I'm never going to see Metallica in a tiny venue, but I've seen tribute versions in small venues. I remember going to a tribute night in Camberly a few years ago - High On Maiden, Mentallica and a Rammstein tribute The Rammstein were awful but the other two were great, particularly the Maiden tribute who used wigs to great effect
  9. Now, that is a niche signature model Particularly as he was playing a Precision when I saw Abbath
  10. I think genre has a lot to do with it, ska bands for example, seem to be loved in WMCs
  11. I might have played with a their drummer at Christmas last year, he was in an Eagles tribute and that name sounds familiar, good player though.
  12. Also, Sadowsky are famous for Jazzes, I tend to think of Sei for their more Flamboyent range. I know they do Jazzes as well, but that's the brand recognition I at least have for them.
  13. Sounds like you're after a valve head from your description
  14. I'd learn as many as I could to the required standard. Be careful about the ones you already know, as the arrangements and keys may be different
  15. It's a shame they've not written a good album since this Just been listening to Dance Of Death by Iron Maiden, which is (at least for me) a neglected gem in their back-catalogue
  16. The new Sleep record - The Sciences, it's very good.
  17. Turned out well, it was a new venue for us in Burgess Hill and though the crowd seemed like hard work, they were enjoying it and dancing......just at the other end of the bar from where we were, so we couldn't see them. Still, venue were happy and wanted to give us more bookings, so worked out overall.
  18. No, as the vast majority of basses are 34" scale 😀
  19. 35", since getting my Lakland last year 34" 5 strings don't feel right, okay for four strings though.
  20. I've measured the neck dimensions with a vernier and the string spacing with a tape measure width at 1st fret 47.27mm depth at 1st fret 21.75mm width at 12th fret 63.58mm depth at 12th fret 26.99mm string spacing at 12th fret 19mm string spacing at 1st fret 10mm
  21. That'll be it then; it was a great gig - I'd driven up from Surrey as I wanted to see Dragged Into Sunlight and some of the Damnation organisers were down from Scotland for a production meeting as it was a month before the festival so they came along too - I got silly drunk drinking with those Scots......
  22. UPS should leave a collection note with you, so you should be okay
  23. Keep it, but get some black tuners on it
  24. EBS aren't far behind them https://www.gear4music.com/EBS-Bass-Amps/Cabinets £600 for a Neo 1x2 £1350 for a cermaic 4x10
