To me that's a thrash album, and probably the best thrash album going, but of course YMMV

Well, if you're going that far back: Death - Symbollic, Human, Spiritual Healing and The Sound Of Perseverence Morbid Angel - Altars Of Madness Entombed - Left Hand Path Cannibal Corpse - The Wretched Spawn, Tomb Of The Mutilated Suffocation - Effigy Of The Forgotten Start with these classics and you'll be well positioned for anything more modern
-
The most recent Dyscarnate record - With All Their Strength I keep coming back to this, it's a very good death metal album.

His heavy vocals were fantastic, Trepanning by Cave In and Gift by Old Man Gloom both immediately jump to mind as great examples. The funny thing is how much he sounded like Stephen Brodsky when he sang clean parts, I was talking to Brodsky on Twitter a couple of weeks ago as I was convinced he'd contributed vocals to Zozobra, but no - everything on those records is Scofield apart from the drums.

I'm still very taken with my Lakland DJ5 Though, I think you were saying before you prefer a 34" scale?
-
I've just seen the photos and video of the crash, it's horrific.

I love how the camera director is confused for a moment over who's singing when the song changes.

I woke up to the awful news that one of my all time favourite musicans, Caleb Scofield has died. Caleb was the bassist/vocalist for Cave In and Old Man Gloom and guitarist/bassist/vocalist for Zozobra. He has been a real influnce on my playing and I'm gutted I never got the chance to see him play live since I saw Cave In support the Foos 2002, when I wasn't that fussed about them. He's survived by his wife and two daughters, who must be going through the worst time.

What do you love about the Bass or Amp you choose to use ?

I love EBS tone, I either DI with a Microbass II or use a HD350 and NE0 2x12 The clarity of the sound from their kit is just superb, every note is crystal clear and the solid state, class A/B HD350 has got real power behind it, belying it's 350 watt rating. My Lakland jazz has a really comfortable neck and the tone matches up with the EBS really well. It looks a bit sexy too (natural/maple/black blocks and black pickguard) -

Ashdown Mibass 2.0. Big problem (Resolved)...
Graham replied to itsmedunc's topic in General Discussion
What I find baffling here is Ashdown think £25.13 + shipping and VAT is worth more to them than their reputation. The £30 of goods-will from sending one FOC to the OP would be worth far more than they'd get from £30 of marketing budget -
I used to have the come-down issue after a gig, so I'd run a bath to soak my joints and read a bit before heading to bed, scotch helped too. Now, I have typically a 45 to 80 minute drive home, so by that time the adrennalin has worn off and I'm usually quite happy to get straight into bed, I sometimes pick up a Big Mac on the way back if I'm particularly hungry. I do sometimes listen to ambient music in bed to help me drift off, there's an artist called ProtoU who's work I like for that

Travelling to gigs. How do you get there ?
Graham replied to dmccombe7's topic in General Discussion
We have a car each, singer who brings the PA has a trailer for that plus staging, lights etc. I was concerned my 3 door Yarris would be too small, but even when I bring an amp, which isn't often, I can fit it in fine with the back seat down. -
I really don't get the eye contact thing, the drummer we played with on Saturday said she really liked playing with us as we as a band, and I specifically, really communicate with her well on stage. It baffles me that you wouldn't want to, if the musicians aren't engaged with each other, is it not just like having a backing tape?

Interstella had a really good score, I loved the soundtrack to the Guardians Of The Galaxy films
-
Tomorrow's supposed to be our first gig of the year, but now the weather's put that at risk ☹
-
I take it this isn't helping

Just use it more? The more you listen to your preferred music, the more accurate the algorithm will get.

Yes, Deep Twilight Flat sounds more correct, I vaguely remember it being a BTB1605DTF I was lusting over online
-
I do have ongoing GAS for the previous generation of BTBs - Nordstrand pickups and Mahogony bodies, particularly in the finish I think was called Midnight Purple Flat? I think @Machines had one and it looked stunning from the photos.

I suspect a new set will feel much higher tension regardless of the gauge if the incumbent set is 7 years old

Female bass Players? How many do you know of in UK?
Graham replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Vicki Smith, pro bassist, plays in The Ramonas an all girl tribute to the Ramones and is in blues artist Will Wilde's band -
Does a BBNE2 have a 34" or 35" scale? I always thought they were 35, but saw one advertised on Bass Direct not long ago that said it was 34; that said, I've noticed mistakes in the specifications sections on their website before.
-
I saw that advertised on Facebook, it looks great - let us know what it was like
