1. Cheers for all the input guys, i ordered a Hiscox case yesterday, sorry cyber didn't see your post until too late
2. I love the Lindy Fralins in my Lakland, they just sound like a precision should, however i can't say if they're any better than any others so not a lot of help there i know. I'm also very keen to try Bare Knuckle's '58 and '65 P pickups
3. I'm after a hardcase for my Lakland Duck Dunn or G&L L2000 depending on which I'm using - so simple traditional shapes - I've been looking at Hiscox's STD EBS or Gator's GPE-Bass-TSA is either particularly better than the other? Or is there not much between them? Or, is there another I've not considered? Hiscox http://www.gak.co.uk/en/hiscox-std-ebs/3087 Gator http://www.thomann.de/gb/gator_gpe_bass_tsa.htm Cheers, Graham
4. I don't know why I torture myself by looking in threads like this one, but I keep doing it. Gorgeous bass, good luck with the sale and sorry to hear why you're selling it

6. I love this, do you think i'd get away with putting it in the wedding budget as it's the same colour as our bridemaids dresses?
7. I have a de-fretted jazz copy from the 70s by Avon which you can have for £100.00 that has the 'lines' where the frets have been filled in PM me if you're interested
8. Lovely, i sadly need to downsize my collection after moving to a flat so i'm thinking about selling all my basses apart from the Lakland and using the money to buy a good 5-string - does anyone know ballpark prices for new and second hand USA L2500s?
9. The metal band I'm in play in drop B but as I'm awkward I play in B standard and just shuffle everything that isn't on the bottom string up two frets - has made for some tricky fingering occasionally when open strings have been involved but it's never caused a major problem

NAMM 2012

That's the first Parker bass I've ever liked the shape of
11. Any interest in a trade for an upgraded Mexican jazz - I've swapped the pickups out for Fender 'originals' which are apparently the same pups as in their Geddy Lee sig and the 61 re-issue, and put on a tiger-eye pickguard. I can also throw in my de-fretted Japanese made Avon jazz copy from the 70s to up the trade value?
12. Do you have to make any mods to it to make it run on UK power or can you just use one of those adaptors that sit on the plug you can get at the airport?

Aamazing, exactly what i'd want - curse my lack of money. The market seems dead at the moment so good luck with the sale; i'm sure you'll get what you want for it if you hang on though
14. Cheers guys, i would like to own a bass with a non-lacquered maple board one day, presumably there's a way to get them clean
15. My G&L has a lacquered maple fretboard and it occoured to me the other day that I haven't a clue why - is there some tonal or playability advantage or is it just aesthetic? If it is just aesthetic it's a shame as I prefer the look of maple necks without the lacquer and it must cost more to make a guitar with it
16.
ah yes, I'm actually not that bothered about the Q, so anything with a semi-parametric EQ that goes down to the bass frequencies would do.
In that case the EBS Fafner has a semi-parametric mid which I love - I tend to leave the bass and treble more or less flat, boost the mids and use the frequency control to tune it to the room. I think fully parametric eqs are less popular as a lot of people don't really know what the Q control does and so ignore it or mis-use it, both of which will make it sound a bit sh*t. Like you say it's not that complicated but it's not something a lot of people are familiar with
17. I assume you're after heads with fully parametric EQs with the Q control?
18. Can't persuade you to move to Sussex can I? Good luck sounds like a blast
19. Tuning to B would probably sound great on this - will you really need the top string? I used to play covers sets on a 4 string tuned BEAD aand only had to swap to a standard tuning bass for the intro of sweet child o mine. Gorgeous though, i used to crave one of these
20. I've got a rosewood necked jazz - any interest in a trade there? It's a Mexican made but I've upgraded the pickups
21. I found that when I was playing an Ibanez K5 - two active humbuckers with a 3 band eq which had a semi-parametric mid so buckets of tonal control but really only a few usable tones and tbh by the time I finished with it and swapped to a jazz I only really found 1 tone on it that I really liked.
22. Gorgeous, nicer than mine infact, at that price I hope you find a buyer soon as they're just amazing basses - want the sound of a Wal at a 10th of the price? One of these is best thing you can buy IMO

24. I played oned of the J-type Lodestones at the Birmingham guitar show a copule of years ago on the Ashdown stand, I really liked it - the neck was very comfortable and while the EMGs aren't everyone's cup of tea seemed to work really well in that bass
