1. I love Guy Pratt's tone on the Pink Floyd Pulse DVD, particularly when he's playing the precision. Also, Justin Chancellor's tone on 10000 Days especially on Jambi

Opeth

Off to see them on Sunday, did they do nothing with death metal vocals at all? I really like the new album and love the mellow stuff but think it would be a shame if they didn't do any growly vocals as the likes of Demon Of The Fall, When, The Night And The Silent Water, Deliverence, Masters Apprentices , Under The Weeping Moon, Blackwater Park, The Drapery Falls, The Moor, The Baying Of The Hounds, Heir Apparent etc are all clasic Opeth tracks and all have at least some heavy vocals on them
3. Funeralopolis by Electric Wizard is the first one that jumps to mind, Eyes Of The South by Down too
4. I used to really like Ibanez K5s and have had 2 (one with busted neck from a fall) managed to trade them with a couple of other bits for an EBS cab a while ago
5. I've not had a chance to try one, but I'm told the Ashdown James LoMenzo Hyperdrive is very good; as I understand it, it is designed to overdrive the mids whilst keeping the lows and highs clean so could be just what you're looking for
6. I thought he'd swapped over to an MXR El Grande for his fuzz?
7. Hi, sorry for the delay, there'll be a pm on it's way to you as soon as i can get on a computer that will let me send one - i hate technology, alternatively try sending me one as that might work better on my phone, cheers graham
8. If I can raise another £150.00 the Duck Dunn wil be mine and John can buy this, lets hope a couple of weddings come my way soon
9. In that price bracket I'd be looking at a Wal, don't know if that's your bag though. Amp wise, I struggle to fault my EBS so maybe one of the mk 2 Fafners?
10. Once upon a time this would've been my dream bass and whilst i'm more after something like a fender p i'd still love to own it so have a bump on me
11. I can't afford your svt-vr (as much as i'd love to) and listening to your band it might or might not be of interest but as you're from leeds anyway i thought i'd whore this: Damnation festival 2011 Leeds uni 05/11/11 Devin Townsend Project, Godflesh, Ulver, God Is An Astronaught, Grand Magus, Amplifier, Decapitated, Evile, Turisas, Astrohenge and more for less than 30 quid
12. As a metal fan I've never heard of Porksword or guru, out of morbid curiosity can you shed any light on these?
13. I play in Andy's old band he was telling me about you guys sounds like you've got some great oppertunities so best of luck with the search
14. I used to have 2 of these, a lot of bass for £300.00, good luck with the sale
15. I'm not 100% on this, but i think i remember a review from when the VR came out saying that the power amp on the CL had been updated while the VR was a pretty faithful replication of a 1970 SVT. I've never played through either but funilly enough, when watching bands, I've never heard a VR i've not liked whereas it's quite rare that i find a CL I like
16. The tone of Caleb Scofield's (Cave In) Ripper was one of things that pointed me towards G&L, I think you'd be pretty happy with a L2000
17. Wow, love the Bob Glaub, unfortunately never sold my Mayones though so can't afford it, i'm sure you'll find a very happy buyer
18.
Dont worry, you are not the only one ! I was in the same boat a few years ago, and was lucky enough to come across a Trib. l2000. I have never looked back. I have since bought a USA SB2, which hands down, beats the pants off any Fender precision I have tried. There is also the JB2 which completes the main array (there are other G&L basses) of the G&L tone. With the L2000, you almost have all these tones in one bass. I dont know why G&L's are generally over looked. They could be partly to blame themselves, as they dont market themselves well. That's a lovely bass you have there. Enjoy !
I'm seriously thinking about trading my jazz bass in for a sb2, how would you describe the neck and the tone?
19. That's exactly what i've got (though mine's tuned B-E-A-D) and it's the only bass i wouldn't part with
20. Is there any tonal benefit to the covers? I've never played a bass with them on and can't imagine it makes them more comfortable but with likes of jamerson and miller using them i can't help but think there's got to be some benefit beyond the aesthetic?
21. Love it, though sadly even if i do find a buyer for my Mayones it'd still be beyond my means, good luck with the sale someone's going to be very happy
22. Can't get it up to the shop this weekend, so one more week before it goes - last chance!
23.
Tim Commerford of Rage against the machine has at least 1 Jazz with a lefty neck. Don't know about tunings - At least drop "D" judging by "Evil Empire" He cites string tension as the reason. Apparently he (over)winds his own pick-ups, too.
In Audioslave he played B-E-A-D, might be why
24. Are you just after a sale, or would you be interested in a trade?
