  1. I had the 4x12 and it was 27kgs so I think 25 will be on the heavy side. Bathroom scales?
  2. Think they're all guitar. Martin Simpson has one from 1958, a thing of rare beauty. At the start of this clip. Later on, he even uses the word 'heft' without trace of embarrassment!
  3. I had a Tech Soundsystems 4x12 cab, best sounding cab I've ever owned and only 27kg. Just a little bit to awkward for me to pick up and move through doorways.
  4. My 3/4 used to fit in the back of my Audi A6 Avant, entirely behind the passenger seats without the headstock poking between the seats.
  5. Not sure how much extra string length the through-body stringing adds. My Duesenberg short-scale needs medium-scale strings, but it has a tailpiece. I'm using Status half-rounds at the moment, which really seem to suit the instrument.
  6. Maybe you should have a chat with @wateroftyne about the various Handbox offerings? Mark Bass TTE501 / 801 might also be worth a look.
  7. Cycle shops are a good source for heavy-duty cardboard.
  8. It's so you can play the guitar and bass parts to Peaches at the same time. Bill Bailey has an entire routine about this.
  9. Proper mojo , that.
  10. If that's a 1st Gen Midget, it's a 1x12 . Not a 1x10.
  11. Lord of the Ringos?
  12. What a great project, and an excellent use for the 3d-print technology.
  13. I'll play. BB800 1977 9.2lbs BBNE2LTD 2011 10.4lbs Al Krow's is probably heavier with all that gold plate bling. Ha ha, predictive text changed Al Krow's to Al Knows - should probably keep that quiet. As far as the pick guards are concerned, no thanks. If you're rocking the BB1200 vibe, you need a clear one, but that won't play so well with the double-sided tape.
  14. Thanks Anzoid, nice review. That looks like good value for money to me. Think you are spot on with the EMGs, I reckon a set of Nordstrand Big Singles would also fit. Hmmm.
  15. Mine failed under its own weight, without a bass on it.
  16. Heavier (as in larger diameter?) or higher tension? Sometimes heavier means higher tension, but it isn't always the case.
  17. Looks not unlike the Ibanez, but much cheaper. Look forward to your comments anzoid.
  18. There is also the Palmer Trinity. Voorsprung Durch Technic with a price to match. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Palmer-Trinity-ABC-Pedal/dp/B00G2CK2XA
  19. Have a chat with Max at SFX Sound. http://sfxsound.com/home/.
  20. Oh Boo. I saw Ted with the 'Band of Friends' about 3 years ago in Ipswich and he was still on top top form. Got to shake his hand. Touching tribute from Gerry on the band's website. http://www.bandoffriends.eu/index.html
  21. There are a couple of threads in 'Amps and Cabs' about using small powered PA speakers with a battery and inverter. I think @mcnach had a set-up like this, you could ask him. The Phil Jones Bass Briefcase can also be fitted with a battery, which will power it for an hour on a full charge. Or you can connect a bigger battery like a leisure battery to it. This has plenty of clout to keep up with acoustic instruments. Expensive solution though.
  22. And, if it has a rosewood board you're going to have issues with CITES.
  23. Exactly like a Vox Wyman then!
  24. The Ritter one is pretty good.
  25. Using this theory - TI Flats. They never need to be changed.
