  1. I think there's probably more happening in Peterborough than in Cambridge.
  2. How about an adaptor which has a 9v battery clip on one end and a 2.1mm plug on the other?
  3. I wouldn't be at all surprised if these boxes were administered by WiFi, and I'd also expect a sizeable percentage to be installed with the default admin password.
  4. Absolutely this. Great minds and all that.
  5. A Bass Collection SB301 would probably be close, or a 310 with the pre-amp removed.
  6. It's not 1956. The Dagger design on the headstock dates from 1964. 1963 and earlier had a treble clef motif.
  7. I had one of these. It was my first bass guitar, second hand in 1972 or thereabouts. I think I sold it a couple of years later for £15, should have hung onto it with hindsight. Quite unusual to see one in this condition without a heel repair or re-glueing. Very nice, good luck with the sale.
  8. Reading this, I'm so grateful that I no longer have to have any involvement with playing for weddings.
  9. You're welcome. Hope you find something. I also have a 3/4 Double Bass gig bag that it will definitely fit inside but it won't be a very snug fit 🙂 . Silly question - don't Conklin make a gig bag for thier own basses?
  10. No good I'm afraid. It's a big case but it tapers too much to fit the top horn.
  11. I have a Tribal Planet gig bag (not made any more) which seems to be larger than average - my Precision disappears into it. I'm not using it so maybe if the bass fits we can work something out. What's the overall length of the Conklin, the width at the bottom, the length of the body including the top horn and the width at the top?
  12. I agree the demand to show up in office hours during the week is pretty unreasonable. Worst case is that you all take a day off for the event and show up for an early sound check on the day. I think it's also a good idea to have UPS on your PA, amplification and any equipment such as keyboards and e-drums which require mains power. Sudden loss of power can sometimes damage equipment and even if you escape unscathed it can be a vibe killer. We had a mighty Korg keyboard which took 2 1/2 minutes to re-boot.
  13. Oi, do you mind? My Fylde acoustic has a zero fret.
  14. Pretty sure yours is a TRB 5. TRB 5P is something else altogether.
  15. The Duesenberg Star or Starplayer was available in a single pickup version. Not sure if it still is.
  16. https://www.ft.com/content/2bd5d78c-7520-4c3e-a77b-bc477d1f18dd 75% of the UK parcel delivery business and a minority stake in the German business were acquired by US private equity firm Advent International in 2020. Definitely nothing to do with Amazon.

  18. It's against the law to charge a fee for a card or a different method of payment.
  19. Sadly the Big Guy didn't make it. It doesn't make economic sense to repair. Once we got it apart, it became obvious that the neck had come unglued once before and been repaired by someone using PVA and the wrong clamps. This was probably either my old man or his bass-playing mate, neither of whom are around to ask any more. This failure caused a lot of damage to both the neck and the socket, with bits of one ripped off and stuck to the other. The cost of what I would call a bodge repair, to clean off the worst of the glue and shove it back together with a couple of large screws, was more than the value of the bass. And there would still be the question of the dodgy peg box repair. An almost identical bass with a similar ghastly repair and a non-dodgy pegbox sold on Ebay a couple of weeks ago for £125 quid. So I've obtained a second-hand Stentor student bass as a replacement, which is being set up instead. The strings, tailpiece and endpin are being transferred across, Peter is going to use the fingerboard to make violin bits out of and I have the body which I am contemplating turning into a bookshelf or cocktail cabinet.
  20. Truly jaw-dropping? Only this really - the first time I heard what could be done other than root-fifth on a bass guitar.
  21. Rally instruments, the high-end range such as this one, were made through a combination of Dae Won Instruments from Korea and Dalian Da Yuan in China. The same factory in China also made high end instruments for Ozark, Ashbury, Kentucky, Morgan Monroe and Pilgrim amongst others. Dae Won has now closed down and their website, www.straus.co.kr has disappaeared, since some time in 2017 according to the wayback machine. It seems that no-one else has taken over from Dae Won so most of the brands have lost their high-end signature product lines. I have a Rally DFM90 which is similar to this but with F-holes and an ebony fingerboard. It's a really great instrument. I'm sure this one is too.
  22. Crazy idea, never catch on. What is this, a vinyl wrap?
