  1. £27 quid? Last time I bought a 5 string set (normal strings plus an extra .125) it was £49 quid. That was at least 2 years ago.
  2. Tecamp and Eich 1x12 cabs (and also the Puma combos) have an effective tilt up - they come with a rod which you stick into a socket on the bottom, which allows it to tilt a lot further than an amp stand. Another option might be to put a PA socket in the bottom and stick it on a pole next to your ear. Some small combos come with this fitted as standard.
  3. Power supply for the Dunlop brick is 18VDC centre negative, 3A, part number is ECB004UK . I got one from www.fxpedal.co.uk .
  4. Cool, might pop over if I can persuade one of the offspring to give me a lift.
  5. I've got one of these. Its briliant and it's going nowhere. So if you want one, you'll have to buy this one. Have a free bump on me, nice vid by the way.
  6. This. The only exception I've found so far was with an MXR Envelope Filter, that really didn't appreciate a Thumpinator upstream of it.
  7. Max at SFX Sound recommended it should be the first thing in the chain. If the effects loop is parallel, as many are, some LF will still get through, so caveat emptor.
  8. Can't fault the BDI21 for the price.

  10. Tuba. Failing that, the Phil Jones Bass Briefcase can be fitted with a battery and will run for about 60 minutes before it keels over.

  13. This is the problem. I love playing the double bass, but if I take time out to play lap steel, or mandolin, or guitar, or well you get the idea, who is playing the bass? Any double bass players in Essex or Suffolk who'd like to join a first rate old-time band and let me play with my special toys, please get in touch.
  14. Well, there's no doubt that the best bass gear puchase of 2021 for me was the Becos Stella compressor that I got from none other than the man himself @Al Krow. And since it's the only piece of bass gear I've bought this year, it's also the worst. Note to self: Need to get out more.
  15. Sold a pedal to Pete, excellent transaction, good communications, lovely chap too. Recommended.
  16. Interesting thatt, I'm sure when we've talked about this in the past a figure of 24dB/oct has been bandied about. I don't recall whether there was any evidence to back this up. Maybe someone on Talkbass tested it?
  17. Fabulous player. I'm looking forward to @Bart Funk Bass knocking out 'Until You Come Back To Me', the bassline is really challenging unlike all that RHCP stinky poo which can be figured out by anyone with half a brain in 10 minutes.
  18. THe LMII which I think was the original combo head had two jumpers, one for DI pre/post and the other for loop series / parallel. Never owned an LMIII, but I think that had an external pre/post DI switch and a blend control.
  19. Nope, it works all the way up the neck. If he plays a G shape, and the capo is on the second fret, you get an A . And yes I'd say that being able to read up-side down chords with or without capo has got me through a few tricky moments and is a useful skill, more so for depping than being a band member.
  20. Yeah, it's a complete vibe-killer and dance-floor emptier par excellence.
  21. As I said before, put the strap on the pin and then clip the straplock over the top, don't attach it to the strap. This way you can use a schaller with any strap, however new or otherwise.
  22. Thanks Mark for an excellent and very detailed review.
  23. The lithium batteries in the standard WL20 can't be replaced, and limit the lifetime of the unit. I wonder whether it will be possible to buy another transmitter for these. If not, it seems that the life of your expensive headphones is also limited by the inability to replace the batteries when they expire.
  24. I went from Line6 G30 to SmoothHound because of the battery door falling to bits. I've used the SmoothHound for several years probably a hundred or more gigs and the only time I've had problems was when the batteries were getting low. You should talk to Smoothhound Chris, he's a member on here and the customer service is really good.
