  1. +1 to this, I find the notch filter on my EDB-1 is an absolute godsend. I usually run it into a microthumpinator to take the low frequencies out too. I also have a Peavey feedback ferret in a rack somewhere, but havent got around to trying it on DB.
  2. You don't need to install Schaller strap locks on the strap. Just put the strap on the button , then click the lock in place on top of it.
  3. @BenHallBassin the Wanted section, you're going to struggle to beat this.
  4. My mind is currently being boggled by this. Especially the bit at 2.15 when he picks up the bow, and the C7 (?) chord at 5.50.
  5. Oops. Please make that AER, not sure what I was thinking there. Acoustic Image indeed.
  6. Acoustic Image gear seems to be very popular amongst the 'nice' set. I have an aging Tecamp Puma which works well with upright and bass guitar, so I think something more recent from Eich would be worth a look. No issues with support here, I've had one or two problems which were swiftly resolved by Thomas Eich himself.
  7. In this particular instance, if the OP is looking at a second-hand 410TVX, his budget is probably less than £100. Despite the theory, the 410TVX is a decent sounding cheap cab and would be a decent upgrade on a single BB115T.
  8. Buy the 410 and ditch the single 15!
  9. 8. Venue sound engineer has had a huge argument with the promoter, locked up the control room, taken half the PA equipment and disappeared.
  10. If this venue is run by Harrow Council, I can absolutely see why they are trying to think of every way possible to raise some more revenue, caught as they are between the rock of increasing costs for everything and the hard place of central government reductions in budgets and demands for savings. Would probably have been simpler to just put their charges up by 10% but hey.
  11. I think I just managed to download a copy from the Internet Archive, a.k.a. Wayback Machine. https://web.archive.org/web/20171225103850/http://markbass.it/media/filer_public/3b/4a/3b4ae3af-b374-48ba-b7a0-6058c308c97f/install_markbass_pedal_controller_mac_131mpkg.zip Be warned though it's a pretty unfriendly interface.
  12. The key to this is USB-C PD - the PD bit stands for Power Delivery, it's a fast-charging technology which requires a USB-C PD enabled device such as a recent iPhone, Pixel phone or Samsung S20. Fascinating stuff. https://www.belkin.com/uk/resource-center/power-delivery/ So can you get an effects pedal supply which supports USB-C PD, I hear you cry? Well apparently yes you can. https://www.thomann.de/gb/mission_engineering_529_m_usb_pd_converter.htm . If you can wait for it to come back into stock. Another option might be this powerbank https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_powerplant_powerbank.htm which has 2 9V DC -ve outputs, 1.2A which should be good for a handful of low-current pedals. Think I might go for one of those myself. Just realised this is one of the banks listed in the original post. The Harley Benton Powerbank Plus is now discontinued so the OP's solutions using that are no longer viable.
  13. Maybe if you had a digital octave down pedal that could happen. Not sure what other pedals might do that.
  14. Seems unlikely - i think it's depending on the device being charged having enough smarts to know what charging voltage it requires. Plus you have the challenge of finding a USB C to 2.1mm centre neg daisy chain.
  15. You might only need one channel, if you can daisy-chain the 2 passive monitors.
  16. Guidance from Max at SFX Sound (who makes the Thumpinator) was to put the HPF first in the chain. I've been following that advice and it seems to work well. I'd put the compressor next, then any other effects. The only exception to this would be if I were using an envelope filter, which I'd put upstream of the compressor.
  17. Great choice. I have one just like it, apart from a couple of modifications.
  18. Sorry to hear that, hope it heals up quickly. In the meantime, how about putting your bass on a performance stand that would allow you to play it without needing to hold it and take the weight? Commercial version: https://www.thomann.de/gb/km_14760.htm I built somethigng for a bouzouki (much lighter admittedly) out of perspex, some straps and some U-bolts to attach it to a microphone stand.
  19. Pretty please. It's been a few years since the original presentation, which opened my eyes. 51m0n's review of the Becos Stella is here:
  20. Valve trombones are availble for the short-armed, although you aren't allowed to use them in national brass band competitions. I really struggle with trombone - the air seems to go straight through them. I think there is more back pressure with a tuba or euphonium.
  21. What kind of Yamaha BB is a Peavey T40? Thought not. Please go and start another thread.
  22. Not trombone but tuba. How can you tell the trombone player's kids in the playground? They can't swing, and don't know how to use the slide!
  23. I have a Stentor Student Bass - is that a 1950? It also appears to have a D neck, unless I'm doing it wrong.
  24. I've been to Peach guitars several times, bought a couple of instruments and attended some of the 'evening with' sessions they run, including Matt Schofield. I've always had good service from them, and since I'm 30 miles away I'd ring them anyway to make sure they were open and had what I was interested in in stock before making the journey. I'd do the same with Bass Direct Although they are not a specialist bass shop, the website lists over 200 basses currently in stock, from Cort, Epiphone, Fender, Ibanez, Jackson, Martin, PRS, Rivolta, Schechter, Squier, Sterling by Musicman, Warwick and Yamaha. I'd be surprised if many local music shops, or indeed anyone outside the specialist bass shops, can match that. For guitars and guitar amplifiers, the stock they carry is huge, millions of pounds worth. I don't think there can be many actual shops in the UK who can offer similar levels of stock. They have suffered from opportunistic thefts, and I don't blame them for implementing decent security.
