2.
Wow, that is in rediculous condition isn't it! Worth a bum-load! Si
Oh yeah - that's virtually 'as new'. If you zoom in you can even see the original receipt together with all the un-touched 'case candy'. Amazing. Worth quite a few bum-loads I would think! And a perfect example of how the burst finishes are very distinctive on these earl Jazz basses - with loads of black in them. I would think it must have been the same guy that shot them in that particular way for the first couple of years... PS - and apparently that's the Fender amp that the original owner bought at the same time in 1960...
 3. 6.
I now need new ears.
+1000 that is the work of the devil. All this pointless 'look at me i can play 100 notes a second aren't I clever' fiddly diddly nonsense. Jamerson must be doing 10,000 rpm in his grave.
 7.
Awesome drummer. Massively spoiled by everything else!
+1000 the 'bass playing' is hideous.
 8.
I'm throwing around ideas and may take on a new project soon. I would fancy a nitro finish, just a standard colour, black probably. Not wanting to do this myself i.e. reranch, and I want a pro job doing. What are my options in the UK? I've read SIMS do it, but saw on here I was getting up to £300. Anyone?
Andy Viccars always gets a good mention here...
 9.
I bought my dad an Acepro guitar the Christmas before the one just gone. I think it cost me £130 and I wasn't really expecting much, but the quality is fantastic for the money and it sounds pretty good too. It's a thin bodied semi, with a piezo pickup - a rip off of a Chet Atkins Gibson basically - so it doesn't get played unplugged very often, but sounds good plugged in. The acoustic instruments may be a different story.
Many thanks for the mini-review of the guitar - that's promising & the pictures of it do actually look quite good. But even at £109 I'm very hesitant without being able to play it...
 10. Anyone got one of these or tried one - AcePro ADB-100CE Natural Acoustic Bass? Are they worth a punt for £109? Or more useful as firewood?
 11. I've tried LaBella's & found the string tension to be too high for me...& the Thomastiks are too skinny for me (use 110 rounds on P Basses). Interested in trying Pyramid Gold flats - are they lower tension compared to the LaBella's??? Thanks!
 12.
Fabulous bass tone, love it.
Wal fretless - you just can beat 'em... Why oh why did I sell mine!
 13. London Calling by The Clash - with the bass played by the coolest dude on the planet: Paul Simonon. How could you not want to be a bass player after hearing that?
 14.
My recommendation would be to get in touch with Andy Viccars - http://www.andyviccarscustom.co.uk/ Absolute Top geezer IMO - has done some great work for me.
+100 Andy is a legend. And he has loads of experience with repairing headstock/neck breaks. Based in Milton Keynes - so not too far away from you as well.

 16. What about Woodworm (Dave Pegg's old studio)?
 17.
Does anyone know what bass Robbie is playing here ? You need to freeze the video at 7.53, (if you can be bothered).
Thanks for posting that! IMHO there's just not enough mention of the Robbie on basschat - he is a GOD of bass playing!

 19. Every now & then a 'big' rig like this goes for silly money on eBay (I recall a gorgeous mint 70's SVT + 8x10 went for £1K some months back) and I'm sure it's simply because of the size/weight issue. Many of us would love something like this or an Ampeg 8x10 - but can't because the majority of bass players have no practical way of moving it around regularly or the space to store it...leaving the field wide open for someone who can - & little or no competition in the bids results in bargain prices! There's a similar situation with big mixing desks - you can pick up some ridiculous bargains - not because they are undesirable items, but because so few potential buyers have space for them.
 20. Nice one Chris - that is one of my favourite Fender custom colours...looks to be be in great condition. An absolute beauty! I know it will give you many years of pleasure. Welcome to the pre-CBS club!
 21.
Sorry if it's been posted before but if you're a Pino fan you have to see this:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pm7l7XfV_Pg
Brilliant - thanks for posting that! Pino - what a legend. And, by all accounts, a thoroughly nice chap as well.
 22. IMHO that's one of the best 'relics' he's done - would be very interested in that if I had the funds...(or could think of how to smuggle it into the house!)
