99ster Feedback
Sold my TAB Funkenwerk V71DI to Jim. Immediate payment, godd communication. I hope to do business with Jim again!
Thanks Gilles - left some feedback for you as well.
  3. Hello folks, Just bought a lovely V71 DI from Gilles. It was EXACTLY as described. A completely hassle free international transaction - with perfect comms by email. Gilles is a splendid chap & an outstanding member of our basschat community. Highly recommended! Many thanks Jim
  4. Got a good friend in Sheffield who needs a studio monitor repaired - couldn't find anyone on 'the list' for Sheffield... Can anyone recommend a good amp tech in Sheffield please? Thanks!
  5.

That's my alternative logo sorted then!
  6.
Do you know Neil Perry? Let me know if not, and I'll send you details.....
Thanks for the reply! No I don't know Mr Perry. So please do PM his details if you think he can help. Much appreciated!
  7. Posting this more in hope than expectation... My Wallace head has no logo plaque/name plate (& never had one) - which is not unusual as Ted quite often built them without any markings at all (not even to say what the controls were!). I'm looking to get a logo plaque/name plate made up - but I need a good, big photo of the Wallace logo for this. And I can't find one on the interweb. So if anyone has one they've saved on their computer - or has a Wallace amp they could photograph then could they please send it to me? Many thanks!!!
  8.
My favourite Thunderbird Tone right here:
Thanks for posting that - great stuff!
  9.
Mine is the best one that money can't buy......
Yep. Has to be a Wal. I PX'd my fretless Wal in a moment of madness...& have been traumatised by the memory for the last 20 years.
  10. That's all spot-on for a '66 P Bass - and not a bad price for a custom colour one in what looks to be pretty good nick.
  11.
Hi Jim! Actually, I just played it the last couple of months. Hope to do the refinish next month, and have it back before the end of the year. Will keep you updated, when I have some pictures of the restoration.
Yes please do send the pics when it's all finished - VERY keen to see those! In the meantime have a little...bump!
  12. That is stunning. So funky! Wish I could justify buying this! How's the restoration going of the '60 Jazz Rory?
  13. BBC4 - Herb's bass player with THE black P Bass - matching headstock, black painted neck. There it is - mythical & legendary. Never seen such clear footage of it before. Wow. edit: found it on YouTube
  14.
Hi all Went to see Wilco t'other night... the Academy is sonically an awful room, but I sacrificed acoustics for atmosphere and I stood towards the front anyway. Bloody great... what a band. Tweedy is quite a happy chap these days. As ever, John Stirratt was excellent. He used pretty much his usual set-up: Lakland Glaub w/ Dark Star > Avalon DI > Schroeder (not that Schroeder!) tube head > into two silver-cloth Ampeg 4x10s, stood side-by-side. No mic on the cab, just DI, and it was PHAT AND GROWLEEEE. One of the best gigs ever. That is all.
Nice one. Wilco have to be THE best live band in the world at the moment. I didn't want to know that Schroeder had built Stirrat a bass head though - their guitar amps are legends. That must be incredible & will generate epic GAS!
  15. It's available on DVD ... What's tantalizing is...they must have filmed this complete gig!
  16. Nice old P Bass! Scroll through the slideshow...
  17.
This is totally awesome
+1 That is VERY cool! I'd be well proud of that if it was mine!
  18.
Me too. La Bellas on the fretted P and J, Thomastiks on the fretless P, and Pyramid Golds on my Decade.
I found LaBellas to be too high tension for me (the Jamerson ones I think they were) - are the Pyramid Golds lower tension??? Thanks.
  19.
matchless make bass amps to. Their amps really are the dogs bollocks though, i've done some clones that sound very nice.
Do you mean a 'Matchless Thunderchief' 200W head? Aren't they custom order only? Would love to try one of those out...! Goodness knows what one would cost to get made. And there was a flip-top B-15 copy called a Thunderman...? Also had an incredible reputation & huge price. Mmmmm...hand-made valve amps! And as for this little lot! I feel...dizzy!

I'm speechless. This is just wrong. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him - no doubt about that.
  21. I bought a used Peterson VS1 tuner from an eBay seller in NYC. Turned out to be Roger Sadowsky!
  22. Got an iPhone 4 now & I can't get either iStroboSoft or Polytune to work anymore (the signal just doesn't seem to be getting through to the apps)... Anybody else have problems? Thanks.
  23.
yeah i do agree with that, and he's got an obvious eye for quality. My main gripe with doing that though is that it all comes down to marketing hype and the bassman circuit while sounding good isn't the most flexible or well designed of circuits it's essentially the best they could do on a budget.
And a big budget at that - he charges £3.5K for one of those bass heads + 4x10.
