1. Absolutely stunning. There really are just TOO many very desirable basses for sale on here at the moment...it's quite disturbing!
2.
Yes I first spotted her on the later show too, as said before she does have the Karen Carpenter sound (maybe a bit of Dusty in there too?) as she sings in quite a low register for a woman. Also heard a bit of her on Wogan's R2 Sunday afternoon show yesterday. And a bit of a babe which does no harm... Slow's a good song but I prefer this one:
Great bass player on the Jools Holland clip - with a lovely vintage P Bass tone.
3.
Isn't this the Dreaded Music Ground?????
Oh yes indeed - that's the 're-branded' infamous Music Ground.
4.
Another pricedrop! Need to sell this bass, car needs fixing!
Can I ask where you're based? Thanks.
5.
Guess I should post this here too, even though I still only have this one poop photo. It's my GT200 with it's new 6x10 friend. Having the white matching cab makes the head look 'complete' now I think, and I feel totally vindicated for my choice of bright white with the whole ensemble Oh yeah, the 6x10 owns pretty hard. I'll admit I've never been a fan of any 4x10 I've tried, so I was sceptical. It also definitely has taken me a few weeks to get used to how it sounds. It has so much low end, I'm struggling to roll enough off with the amp's tone controls to get it sounding how I like! Paired with my Precision, this amp just sounds how a rock bass really should IMHO Ace cabs - definitely worth a shout if you're in the market for a new one! Heavy, but ace.
That is one of the coolest looking bass rigs I've ever seen. I salute you!
6.
Check this one out, this ad has it all. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FENDER-SQUIRE-PRECIS...=item19c184a3d5
"The only minor fault is that it sometimes crackles when adjusting the volume control. This has never bothered me but I think more regular use & some contact cleaner spray would sort this." Well why couldn't you be bothered to clean the pots then if it's that easy? FFS.
7.
£2000 to £2500
Yep - for a really nice example with OHSC - that would be about right.
8. Sold Rick a Hiscox case. Smooth, easy transaction with great comms. Rick is a fine fellow & highly recommended!
9. Posted on: May 26 2007, 10:36 PM " +1 on that! I recently imported a 1965 Ampeg B-15N from the US - & paid the 17.5% VAT on top of the duty. I would LOVE to know how you claimed back some of the tax!! " Golden days - when you got more than $2 to £1. Ahhhhh....
10. Sold for £1K - which is a lot of money - but compared to others amps of that price... The buyer will be a very happy camper for snagging that for what is a bargain price.
11. And the black & white photo here actually shows a stack-knob Jazz bass... [link fixed]
12. There's a thread here about Audio Kitchen...
13. Rare than the rarest thing in rare town - the mythical Matchless Thunderchief...
14. If the pickups, electrics & pickguard have had to be replaced then you can pretty much guarantee that sometime in the past somebody stuck in an extra pickup or two - which involved machining out big chunks of wood that have been now been filled & painted over... So IMHO way over-priced for a (very) incomplete re-fin - as a genuine 60's pickguard (with aluminium shielding plate that this bass is missing) + original pickups will cost a lot of money to source. The neck? May very well have had an nitro overspray - which would make it look 'new' & shiny.
15. There's no way the moulded custom fit earplugs can just fall out - I would say it's not far from impossible. If your head is being shaken that violently then the last thing you should be worrying about is your ear plugs as your neck will have just snapped! Grumbling about paying £165 to SAVE your hearing is just crazy - I struggle to understand how anyone can't see how that is THE best £165 you could spend on any bit of kit.
16.
im going to see avenged sevenfold and stone sour at the plymoth pavilion. ive heard that they play trememdously load. will musicians earplugs reduce the sound quality?
Quite the opposite in my experience - for me it improves the sound quality at gigs (that's using ACS ER-15 customs).
17. Harvey Brooks video Interview.... you might find interesting...
18. Looks like the full story is here On a Talkbass thread
19.
You sir, have made my evening wonderful, thankyou for posting that clip.
My pleasure! I've actually got that clip on DVD...I'll see if I can find it on Amazon for you if you want?
20. Great link here - with more photos from the same session at TDPRI Dylan Jazz
21. Oh yes indeed - an iconic Jazz image... Here's a truly wondrous clip of Danko playing his Jazz Band in Woodstock As for this Jazz - the picture was actually a Fender publicity photo - I'm certain it was used in Fender ads in the 60's - so I would think it could well be a Jazz that was given to Dylan by Fender...? Or maybe it was Danko's - that's a cool idea for sure! Would love to hear any more about it!
22. Thank f**k I didn't see this earlier!
23.
Well, you had to be there, man. Or something like that. I'm more surprised that V&R seem to have missed the fact that their Bath closed a few weeks ago......thought that would be worth a mention on the website?
Their Bath shop has closed?
24.
Would actually love to work on that bass. The headstock finish nearly brought me to tears! What's going on with the neck colour? Is that dark shade just aging???
That's not natural - the back of the neck's had some hideous varnish applied to it when the rest of it was painted. It will need everything stripped back to the bare wood to start again... If it's done right it should make a fabulous bass after it's restored. Though the pickguard will be the hardest thing to locate - & then it's big bucks for an original early 60's pickguard in good condition. The repro ones never look right.
