whats the point..who you gonna sell em to?
No big problem for people like this - who have also specialised in faking vintage amps & instruments for many years - to alter serial numbers & other details... And when you are well established international vintage guitar dealers - there's all sorts of people on the other side of the world you can sell them to...
Can someone tell me if I have the basic jist right. Someone goes to somebodies house who owns a collection of Vintage guitars. Somebodies house gets broken into and guitars nicked. The nicked guitars turn up in someones shop for sale.
Not so much all turned up in one guitar shop...the 'characters' we're talking about owned a whole chain of (in-famous) guitar shops in the UK (& still do own shops - together with a very famous amp brand) & were (in fact still are!) very big players in the global vintage instrument trade & therefore perfectly positioned to make a large number of expensive vintage guitars 'disappear' into the market place...

Words fail me on this one...! It's so bad you could almost be forgiven for thinking it was a spoof! -

I've played bass in a band with Chris Leslie - one of the nicest & most talented musicians you could ever hope to meet...and he even makes his own violins!
I went to college in Newark with Chris Leslie. Heck of a fiddle player even then. The folk sessions we had in the pubs were amazing... I was playing guitar in DADGAD in those days, don't any more... I've got several of the classic Fairport LPs but have never seen them live! Really must put that right.
