Spotify to the rescue! http://open.spotify.com/album/6S6k7jxZEZBwUs0NRMFKoi OK, probably won't sound as good as your vinyl copy. But Danny's playing still sounds very tasty, good call Clarky.
Thanks for that link - I used to play that album to death. Awesome, awesome bass playing. It don't get much better than Mr Thompson - the man is a national treasure! PS - and Steve Jansen's drumming is pretty good too!
Arrgh, of course I sort of knew that would be the case, but one never knows. That nut width is too wide for me. I suppose I need a P with a Jazz neck or a later P with a B width neck. I think my dream of owning a P born in the same year as me is now properly over Sorry to waste your time Matt, but sincere thanks for the info.
It's worth trying a pre-CBS 'C' width neck P Bass if you can though - as they are much slimmer/shallower in profile than the later 'B' necks (if that makes sense?) - nothing like the really fat 'B' necks that you'll find on some late 60's P basses... It really does make them play beautifully - even if you're used to a B or A neck...
You could - I used to use an old Yamaha NS10 woofer with an xlr cable soldered to it!! Gave pretty much the same sort of results as the Sub Kick (although I'm sure the Sub Kick is a little more refined!!!)
I'm pretty sure that's exactly where Yamaha got the idea for the Sub Kick - as folks were doing exactly that with NS10 woofers & they saw that & decided to make a posh version to sell...
I Recently aquired 2 old hardcases, one of which hadnt been opened in approx 15 years so both smell musty as hell, i"ve got em opened up in the spare room as we speak with the window open,is there anything i can use to spray in em, stuff like febreeze etc or will the stuff react with the paint on the basses when they go back in. There old cases and not worth a jot but there better than a gig bag. cheers mick
I've still got some spare bottles of the proper Fender Case Deodorizer by Maguires if you're interested...?
OK, I think I'm missing something, I have the license on my iLok, but not the plug-in, and I can;t seem to find where the download is, I just get shunted back to the iLok license generator. Any ideas? edit: Forget it, I found the DL link... Thanks for the heads up. :-)
I had the same problem with trying to find the DL link for the software - took me ages to work it out! Glad you got there in the end. There are some really nice bass amp modellers on the plugin - I think it might well turn out to be pretty useful...
-
If you have an iLok (required to activate the license) - you can get the Line 6 'Pod Farm' plugin for FREE I've just tried it out on ProTools 8 & it's pretty cool - especially for free!
anyways... Took a proper camera down today so thought I'd give you some better pics. In the first you can see that the booth still has a lot of work to be done. Windows need to arrive and be fitted (I have just cut some 4 inch blocks of rockwool and placed them in the aperture for the time being) as does the door. Inside the framing and trapping still need to be done. Electrics and lights also need to be finalised): On this next one you can see that the ceiling is painted, the fire alarm sounder and strobe has been fitted, and one of the cheap bulbs I put in has already blown: And finally, this one's just a slightly better quality version of a shot you've seen above (save the kit isn't mic'd etc this time). It does give you a pretty good perspective on the height of the room though:
That's a great space for sure!
thanks man. good eye. Yes it is!
Cool - I've bought a couple of them recently for my SE Gemini's - as I had one of those horrible moments watching helplessly as one toppled on to a floor on a standard mic stand that couldn't take the weight... Knew that the time had come to get at least one 'proper' mic stand! And the SE's are great stands - not done any drum recordings since I got them - but will certainly use them for over-heads next time I do... And what's the mic you have on the guitar stand in front of the kit? A ribbon?
-
Looking splendid! Is that a pair of SE Electronics 'Stand 1' microphone stands you're using for the overheads?
It's a fascinating list to look through. Not only to see some amazing guitars, basses and clothes, but also to see the pricing on some of the stuff sold. There are some wonderful basses and guitars in there and some of the vintage stuff went for what I would say is pretty low pricing. When you look at the sale price on some of the old P basses and also some of the lovely old Gibson guitars it really does make you realise how stupidly over priced some of the stuff on Ebay is. I think it would be good to forward details of specific units off the list to some of the fools asking ludicrous prices for some tatty old pieces of sh*te and point out that an Entwistle owned one went for sensible pricing and they should bloody wise up! (OK I doubt he ever touched the damn thing other than getting it out of the case for a pic or two, but whatever).
Yes - definitely some bargains were had... A Fender Precision slab-bodied bass guitar, 1966 A re-fin - but one of THE rarest/most prized types of Precision - for £3,840. Have you spotted any of his Jazz basses?
I'm afraid that I am not in a position to buy this lovely bass. However, I would just like to say that you have restored my faith in basschat. You are indeed a gentleman. All the very best for a successfull conclusion to your sale.
+1. Very well put Hutton... Best of luck to you with the sale.
I am selling my rather beautiful, original 1964 Fender Precision bass. Serial number L26409. This was made in the Fullerton factory when Leo Fender still owned the company. It is in great condition for its age and never gets used, hence the sale. The pick-ups and scratch plate (this has been replaced with a genuine Fender part) are not original as they were stolen about 10 years ago along with various other items during a house break in The pick ups in the bass are Seymour Duncan quarter pounders and sound wonderful Everything else on this bass is original. It comes with a hard case too. Let me know your thoughts and please PM with any offers. No trades please as I am not looking for another bass at this stage. Thanks and hopefully hear from you soon.
Can I ask has it been refinished? The body + the neck / headstock? Thanks.
