  1. Proper Eric Morecambe moment there! 🤣
  2. I do but I've only just bought it myself. Bought a used copy cheap. My teacher gave it the thumbs up as it uses the Rabbath method rather than Simandl approach which is good but very dry for a beginner (his words). Easier to read from the off too.
  3. Nick Oliveri (KYUSS/QOTSA) used/uses GHS Bass Boomers .115 and .095 for his C and F strings mixed with Ernie Ball Power Slinkys .075 and .055 for his Bb and Eb strings.
  4. Shark Ridden Waters - Gruff Rhys
  5. Rest in peace me hearty.
  6. Down In The Ground Where The Dead Men Go - The Pogues
  7. Wee update: I have a Lollar P pickup that I've been meaning to put in for ages but haven't got around to. However, after a recording session over the weekend I'm keeping it stock. It recorded so well with the T.I. flats, really pleased. A great match. If it ain't broke etc...
  8. I'm already a fortnight up on last year. I can do this... I can do this...
  9. Moove - Inspiral Carpets
  10. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana. Halloween 1991
  11. Or just use an appropriate size metal drill bit.
  12. Yup. It keeps the inner child present and the present Victor Meldrew quiet 😆
  13. I never think about replacing any gear until I suddenly do. Nothing is safe.
  14. Never played one but I've always thought that these have the best shade and sparkle of orange ever to grace a bass. Just right. (Orange is my favourite colour btw 😊)
  15. Yes it's all about the moisture content.
  16. I Am The Resurrection by The Stone Roses. It's definitely iconic for those, like me, who came of age during that time (especially the bass break which has been sampled a lot). Seeing the Roses was what inspired me to buy a bass in the first place so this one is kind of my ground zero. It's a perfect song (to me).
  17. Totally with you there, and been there too. Like the Beach Boys said, "I just wasn't made for these times". This made me laugh and sums up my own relationship with "Tech". *mucho swearing alert*... https://www.facebook.com/share/v/15RSjfTYm3/
  18. My kids love the soundtrack to this and I think I prefer this brass/wind low end version of Uptown Funk to the original. Apart from the chipmunks 😄
  19. Donna Lee? I kid! Sounds like a great idea, also interested in what other instruments you'll be playing with.
  20. Great vid here by Tony Franklin on why he plays unlined rather than lined. It's all good but go to 3.30 for his reasoning and demo...
  21. Yes, mute the strings with your fingerboard hand and spend some time focusing on just your picking hand, eyeballing it as you do. Alternate picking on each string, then when you can do that accurately, try going between B&A, E&D, A&G (like you would play octaves), again alternate picking as you go (1+2+3+4+ on each string at first). When you can do that accurately and consistently with minimum hand movement, mix it up how you feel like. This will help internalise the new string spacing which is what we all trip up on at first, picking especially. Won't take too long. Have fun, it's a good game!
