1.
Mine has turned me into a Jazz Bass man after decades of being a P Bass man. If that helps your GAS any..?
not in the least you sir are a bounder
2.
Just give in... it's inevitable...
I am weakening! trying Mart's limelight J has just about torn it for me if it had been a stack knob '60 remake in oly white I'd probably have torn it from his hands and legged it, so resonant and sweet to play, sounded way fatter than any j i've ever tried before!
3. Listen to the sound of the rest of the band and find your niche. pay especial attention to the drummer/percussionist and lock in.
4.
Like the idea - but the GK sounds great recorded DI and the Burman sounds superlative at gigs!!
you are in a pickle aren't you then! you just need to burMAN up and use your trolley
5. Burman for recording & GK for gigging, best of both worlds?
6. I've got a bass box that might fit if you want it? My '77 p arrived in it... Otherwise I'd try je james cycles cos music shops round here always try to sell me a box...
7. Great sounding amp, my p5000s is superb
8. here are a few pics I took when I first got it, Gareth kindly rehomed it for me, sorry to hear she's gotta go matey but that's just how these things are sometimes isn't it DPP_2702 DPP_2701 DPP_2700

11.
*THE THREAD FROM THE DEAD* Happy days... I've just found out I'm playing with Mr. Knopfler again, at a gig to celebrate the millionth entrant into the Great North Run in September. This time it's going to be live on BBC2. Yay
woohoo! should be able to catch you on iplayer too then...sweeeeeeet
12. comes to us all but always takes us by surprise
13. yes they are great basses, more versatile than you'd think with just the one pup, I have 2 at the moment and have had several in the past too. The USA Fender's are a cut above the other Fender offerings (MIM particularly) and there are probably several for sale on here just now that would be awesome and significantly cheaper than a new one. Whereabouts are you matey, if you're near Sheffield you're welcome to pop by and try mine out...
14. that looks very smart indeed, giving me headless gas thankfully I've no cash at the mo, glwts buddy
15. John has once again proved his awesomeness, getting a loom in the post at th elast minute for me and it arriving the morning after, effortless! just superb, cheers again matey my '77 p will live again mwahahahahahaha
16. that looks superb! you've given me a few handy tips there as to how to sort out attaching my diago to my mini
17. Can I join the list too please?
18.
Cheers Andy. Always nice to meet a fellow BCer, looking forward to catching you guys when yore playing locally.
absolutely mate, nice to have 'normal' conversation for a change you'd be most welcome at any of our gigs 24th August Cross Scythes Woodseats (3pm) The rest are evenings... 31st August the Hop (Shef) 19th September the Cremorne (Shef) 24th Septembr the Green Room (Shef) 1st November Shakespeares (Shef) we kinda need some October gigs...mebbe Rotherham or Barnsley...? Anyway...back on topic!! I reckon I'd go for a '60 stack knob j in medium relic, shame he doesn't do sunburst so either oly white or black with a black scratchplate. I was proper impressed with marts'!!
19.
Hi Andy, The bass looks tres cool mate, glad your happy with it. I'll have the rack sorted soon so will post some pics of the cab all set up. Cheers Gui.
cheers buddy, she's a beaut, well, she will be Enjoy the ead, pics woulde be fab of course
20.
Nah, that's horrible, feel free to send it to me when it arrives and I'll, um, think of some way of disposing of it.....
marts' '63 j is a magnificent sounding, looking and feeling bass, I met it last night and was totally impressed! ...even if it had been way more expensive than it was!!
21.
Good call Andy, the kiogon loom is easy to install - I managed so it has to be - and a good idea to keep the old stuff to the side just in case.
cheers bud, I've had kiogon loom's in a couple of basses now, the first time I did it I was somewhat nervy, the second time was a breeze though, this'll be my third (I think)...top quality piece of kit and such a simple upgrade but makes such a big difference
22. ...and there's only so much life left in the frets too they're ok for now, nice n even but very low so with flats she'll feel kinda fretless
