Gotta come clean. I put £900 on this auction on the last minute, but the app on my phone froze so it didn't go through. You got lucky indeed matey How does she sound?
very lucky she don't sound at all at the minute matey (except a horrible buzzing sound), needs new wiring and a new pup so when sorted (and inc shipping to me) will be around your bid anyway...she's so lovely and resonant (and lightweight) that I don't want to send her back, I want to fix 'er up and get her gigging again -
As a youth I lusted after a 2X15 Orange Reflex cab, but alas. Or maybe luckily... we'll never know.
oo nice oh ROOOOOAADDDDIIIIEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
My thoughts exactly. I`d love one, but only if it were someone elses job to carry it. Actually, if that were the case, I`d have two!
precisely this!! mine'd have to be Orange though, I like them Orange things

so, I've stripped it right down, cleaned everything, put it back together and acoustically it just sings now, such resonance and everything feels amazing! I've decided to fix the electrics by replacing them and storing the original bits for future consideration as that'll get the most reliable gigging solution I've gone for a seymour duncan spb-1 pickup for now and there'll be a kiogon wiring loom on its way soon too so all will be happy under the hood -

We're starting too look into band logo / artwork related merchandise and I was wondering where bc use for these things? We've had business cards from vistaprint and they were nice pin badges and stickers from 'awesome merchandise' and they were ok, printing not amazing a couple of trucker hats from a local place and they're bobbins! I've just sent a test order via zazzle for a trucker hat and a t-shirt as their hats are good (my mate uses them for his hat habit) and you can have your own 'store' where you can keep designs and folks can order them if they want to... preference would be for a uk based company but I haven't found anywhere that can do all the stuff we're after and is any good / reliable / reasonably priced etc...?

[s]For sale as I've downsized my pedal collection significantly and I'm also not playing particularly effected music anymore It's this one Flightcase Warehouse link ...the internal dimensions are listed as "Int Dims: w620mm x d370mm x h112mm" Essentially 'as new' condition, there are a couple of minor scuffs to the outside of the case (see pic).
Andy - it is sometimes called the 62 re-issue model. http://www.ebay.co.u...=p2054897.l4275 My latest Precision came with one fitted and, for the tone I am looking for, it is even better than my previous best and favourite, the Wizard Trad. I am wondering what my other P will be like with one in.
ah, apologies for any confusion matey I was asking what era p pickup the wizard one was aiming to sound like as I might be interested in buying it from you if that becomes an option...? -
You get quite a lot for your money - easily enough to do one bass Because the glue conducts you don't need to solder, just overlap the pieces slightly then wire to earth somehow . On mine I get zero measureable resistance from the shield to the jack earth And it looks shiny
I like shiny I did do this on a MIM 50's p that I had and it improved life considerably, just ordered some more tape as I gave the remainder of that roll to a mate to sort his gear out.
I would start by troubleshooting the electronics to see what could be wrong with it. Try hooking up the pickups directly to the jack and see if the output increases, if not the the pickups are knackered and you'll need to find someone to rewind them (i had Andy at wizard pu's do this job for a friend in an old Fender bass pickups and it was spot on, too bad he's retired now). If the pickups are fine then i would redo the solderings on the pots, old solder isn't as conductive as fresh one, you could start by trying it first with only the volume pot, then add the tone pot with a new cap you may have laying around and finally add the old cap. After all of this and if the problem with the output was found and solved just shield the cavities and enjoy your bass. Even if you decide to use a modern wiring loom/pickups you should solve the problem with this bass before it gets worse. If it's knackered it won't increase it's value over time.
Cheers for the advice matey, I think my first port of call is going to be to send the existing loom off to kiogon for him to check out as he's got all the kit for a proper diagnostic (and I've got no spare bits / wire etc)...he can test the pups to check for inconsistencies / shorts in the coils etc too -
How does that fingerboard wear affect the playability? I had a friend with a Strat with a maple board with similar wear and although he loved it I found the uneven surface caused by the wear to the finish made it really uncomfortable for me to play.
having had a play around on it last night they're not actually as deep as that pics suggests they might be, not noticeable at all when playing, pleasantly surprised -
Might be worth taking some pics for Klohon so he knows exactly what's in there now
this is the best pic I could get last night, the cap is soldered obscuring the numbers on the tone pot but the volume pot data is visible as is the value of the cap...
It's GOT to have conductive glue though I Had just this same bridge wire issue with a squier VMP - rock solid solution. Spray the copper wire out then stick it down with sticky foil
superb -
Regarding the bridge wire, I have some copper shielding foil with conductive glue - I just stuck The earth wire to the body with it and then screwed the bridge on tight Why don't you carefully remove the OE pots and put a Klogon loom on ?
that is superb, exactly the kind of idea I was after! I've got some self adhesive foil, spot on! When I've satisfied myself that all is as it should be I'll be fitting a kiogon loom to improve reliability (keeping all 'original' bits safe of course), shielding the cavities and underside of the scratchplate and making sure the bridge earth is well attached I'll then know whether the pups are working fine or not... -
The pickup could be on its way out, though this isn`t really my area of knowledge. Could also be one of the pots. I also had a lot of hum/buzz in my 78, so shielded the cavity and pickguard with tape. Took about an hour and now no buzz at all. Time well spent.

This first! I had the same trouble with a Squier P a while back and just shielding tape on the pickguard did the trick.
cheers guys, the tone pot feels a bit weird when turning it and isn't quite working right so I suspect it's a duff pot, there's a chance this might be causing the 'where's the bass' problem from the pup? ...at least it's an easy one (and relatively inexpensive) to try first shielding the cavity will be on my hit list of jobs once I'm satisfied that there's nothing dreadful or expensive wrong with the bass that would necessitate a return for a refund type thing... -

we also appear to have a rather hideous ground-type hum which gets much worse when touching the pole pieces I've had the bridge off and made sure the ground wire is touching the bridge and it certainly seems to be, any tricks forgetting the blighter to stay nicely attached? insulating tape the bigger to it perhaps? and the output is extremely weak (50% of my 2010 p bass) and containing no bottom end at all, pickup trouble perhaps what to do about the pickups though? is it a disastrous failure and should be returned to the seller with a slap or is there something I can try first?
