1. I'm going to have to try and get down for next year's do, those pics and the general feedback make we wanna come and see!
2. Drop him a pm mate, he's very helpful and amenable
3. You could draw a picture of the neck and annotate it with the notes in your wierd tuning, that'll help you see how it all fits together if you can't visualise it and then you can colour in a major scale pattern which is then easy to mod with all the wacky bits for other chords... ...and use your ears absolutely!
4.
Found out again.
:-D She wouldn't regret it though, you make superb basses matey!
5. The theory doesn't change with different tunings but the note locations will...I'd suggest learning where the notes are in the tuning you use most (and standard tuning too) and then you'll know where your root should be... presumably your downtuning but still keeping the 4ths interval in between the strings so the shapes will be the same?
6. Lots of basses I've had have been a limiting factor in either sound or neck dimensions and while I could sound 'good' on them I couldn't sound my best on them...the lakland 55-02 I recently had and now the acg I've got are both seriously good basses and the acg is way better than I am so I don't expect to run out of room on it any time soon!
7. The sfx m:d2 is hugely impressive and is remarkably similar in sound to the avalon u5 but is way way cheaper at £160 ish!
8.
No longer available - trade agreed
Congrats mate!
9. Scott bought my fischer heaphone amp a while back, painless deal, nice and quick, thanks matey!
10. 5 is more versatile while maintaining a reasonable neck width, with a low b you've got all the notes you need.
11.
bump for a great guy to deal with. if the new fretless neck is as good as the fretted one andy sold to me, then this bass is a killer.
Thanks matey, it plays and sounds brilliantly!
12.
Would you not be willing to split?
Hi matey, I might split, I was looking to move the pair really but if you're interested drop me a pm and we can work details out?
13.
I saw Andy at the weekend with these cabs. They are indeed as new and weigh almost nothing and those covers are very nice too.
Thanks Tom matey
14. Not deal related but just to say that Tom is an excellent paragon of the spirit of basschat! knowing I was interested in trying out a piece of gear he offered for me to visit him so I could a/b it with my current kit, we filled his wee front room with bass gear and played/nattered away over an hour! Generous with his time, generous with his gear (he's offered to loan me it even though he's only just received it himself!) and makes a great coffee! thanks matey!
15. Awesome NOS beauty there and a price soooo tempting
16. Confused as the mobile version is currently ok
17.
Bump for an awesome set-up. Been swearing by mine for years now. One cab is perfect for upright bass gigs, clubs, rehearsals and two is way more than the sum of its parts. And the covers really do their job to the point of p!ss taking - a drummer mate keeps slagging me for taking the vacuum cleaner to my cabs. Have a bump!!!
Thanks matey, if I weren't craving some 2x12 action I'd be keeping these for their versatility
18. [s]For sale my pair of pristine epi ul112 series 2 cabs complete with epifani covers. Only selling these so I can switch to a 2x12. They're £475 each new from the gallery & the covers were an extra £50 each, these are pristine (the covers are superb!), gigged only a couple of times, £400 each or £750 for the pair (collected)...would prefer not to ship as they're quite large (I collected them in person from the Gallery in London when I bought them new) but I will if it helps facilitate a sale/deal.[/s]
19.
The only bass I have ever had that experience with is my Lakland 55-02. Basses typically don't live long with me before I get bored and move onto something else, but this bass has been a blessing to me since I bought it 9yrs ago. It was bought as a back up and quickly became my #1. I wasn't looking for my dream bass at the time as I thought I had already had it...an Overwater Progress III. When I played it at the shop I obviously liked how it sounded and played otherwise I wouldn't have bought it, but it wasn't until I spent plenty of time with it at home when I realised how dynamic and flexible it was. I have used it for funk, gospel, metal, folk, hip-hop...you name it! I can always find the answer I need. I had a collection of 6 basses when I bought the Lakland. All have gone except the 55-02, which speaks volume to me. At the risk of sounding corny, I have a strong bond with that bass.
I seriously loved my 55-02 and finances allowing I will have another one someday, it's the best mass market active type thing for versatility, playability and just plain awesomeness! Despite having my dream acg I still recall fondly my 55-02! I have recently been shocked and surprised as to how bloody good the g&l jb-2 tribute is! It's so much more gutsy sounding than any other passive j I've tried, with a change of strings and a setup it will be superb!
20.
Cheers Andy- think I might have got this from you?
Indeed you did matey
21. These are superb little 'secret weapons' for getting yourself a bit further forward in the mix without fundamentally altering your tone, simply brilliant!
22. Welcome (also from Sheffield!)! Check out the db forums on here, loads of advice, there's also a db for sale forum so you might pick up a bargain too... If cash is a problem then borrowing will be best but for consistency of practicing on a new instrument renting or buying will help you to get used to that particular instrument...I'm sure there'll be loads of folks more than happy to give you advice (I'm not much of a db player, I have an EUB which satisfies my upright itch when I get chance)
23. Liking that very much! Quite...Within Temptation / Lacuna Coil / Evanescense ish... Album?
