1. I've a funny feeling this may be their last major world tour. Not one to miss in that case and hang the expense
2. Y'see then I read other's list and how could I forget Bernard Edwards, Cliff Williams (I kid you not), Doug Wimbish, Colin Hodgkinson et al... It's completely impossible
3.
Broken into years to make easier reading... 1980 - 1985 - Me 1986 - 1990 - Me 1991 -1992 - Me 1993 - 1995 - Me 1996 - 1998 - Me 1999 - 2001 - Me 2002 - 2004 - Me 2005 - 2006 - Me 2007 - 2009 - Me 2009 - 2012 - Me I'm so good I scare myself sometimes...
Bugger - beat me to it Usual suspects for me I guess (in no particular order and not necessarily virtuoso): Chris Squire Geddy Lee Paul McCartney Billy Sheehan Dick Nolan Victor Wooton Stanley Clarke Jaco Pastorius Stu Hamm John Myung
4. Aside from the music I like the cd packaging but you need eyes like a shithouse rat to read the text
5. You have to remember a British festival is all about finding a big field and removing the punters from their money. They're not about providing a good musical experience.
6. I would LOVE!! this bass but there's no way I can get it past SWMBO Have another Bump
7. Second run through of Map of the Past. Brilliant album!
8. Really like the album, definitely the best for oooh at least 20yrs. Like the reworking of Caravan and BU2B.
9. Well it's gotta be Clockwork Angels
10. Mine has just landed . Spotted my name on the poster and now I'm off for a listen
11. Nah worse performances - Cheryl Bloody Cole and Wil.i.am. What possessed Gary Barlow to even agree to let her on the stage.
12. It Bites are effectively a 3 piece now with at least 2 bass players who swap in and out depending on the other's commitments. Saw LP for the first time at last year's show (Sale Waterside Arts Centre - double headliner with Mostly Autumn). Allegedly he is a long time It Bites fan and was thrilled to get the gig with them. But IB are never going to pay the bills long term and hence the session work.
13. Slash just bugs the tits off me.
14. Our first big gig - we hired a large concert hall in Widnes and put on our own show with us as headliners. The whole shebang was being videoed and I executed the stock rock bassist poses as we launched in to our first song. Took a step back and tripped over my chorus pedal. Didn't fall flat on my arse but managed to stagger back in to the bass stack which stopped me from falling over. Very embarrassing
15. Well it may be just me but I preferred that to FGTH's version. A great folky vibe to it. I remember seeing the Yes tour with Trevor Horn and Geoff Downs (Yeggles?).
16.
Yeah, I've got Heavy Weather. I just don't see what's not to like. It's different granted, but not in a bad way IMHO.
Yep, I'm with you Hiram. Sounds great to me. C'mon tell us what's wrong with it
17. Correct, not a lot for the bassist. There was one stand with S/H, Stingray, Marleaux and Rick but that was about it. Oh yes and Dupont had another good presence and along with all the Gypsy Jazz guitars was a rather nice acoustic bass http://www.acoustic-guitars.com/agrandir.php?titre=DR28&fichier=basse_acoust_pop.jpg. A few other Rics, Warwicks and a couple of custom jobs. Watched The ZZ Tops - very good tribute act. My mate bought a 1950 Gibson L5 (the one on the first stand as you walked through the door). All in all not a bad 4 hrs for £7 though.
18. I'm off to see them in Liverpool in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed for a couple of "special guest" appearances.
19.
I have no long term secure storage, so whichever instrument I took would have to come and go with me, as would the "amplification", but it'd all fit in a gig bag or case. I do have a regular lunch hour, though. My greatest concern would be the constant interruptions. Still, a little "education", and I reckon I'd be left in peace.
Kala U-Bass and a little Roland cube - job's a good un
20. Low B keeps the keyboard player from playing my bass lines
21. Nice surprise when I got home from work. BGM on the mat . Those Enfield Avenger bases look flippin' horrible. Then ~I noticed the plug for Stanley Clarke at Ronnie Scott's. Always wanted to see him but £80 - £100 for priority seating! Fewkin' 'ell is that normal for Ronnie Scott's?
22. Steve Davis also likes prog and classic rock. Go figure
23.
Why did the drummer have to put a bass part down
D'oh
24. discreet Nice one Centurion
25. Sounds great. Perfectly accompanies the bass tab.
Spotted a bass isolation one of the Ox doing Won't Get Fooled Again which is amazing... maybe stick it up in a new thread.
OOOh please do
